Pledge of Allegiance

a bill by sen. william ``pete'' knight would require that all california schoolchildren say the pledge of allegiance daily.

under sb 1248, public school teachers would have to lead students in saying the pledge at the beginning of each school day.

this is very interesting, although i seriously doubt it would pass.

Giantjason, Back in the mid seventies, the JW's tried to open a series of schools in the Southern California area. I remember this cause I was going to go to one of these " havens from the worldleys". Guess what happened? The Jw's who were in charge of the money and finance decided to take money and split. This was kept very hush hush as you never hear of it now.. Trust me it did happen..

Name some must have rock records

i've spent a lot of time on allmusic.com and it amazes me how much nirvana is mentioned when the reviewers rate other albums.

so its a no brainer that nirvana's work should probably have a place in every rock collection, but what are some other albums every rock fan should listen to if not own.

Candles and JWs

i wonder how many jws r aware that candles have pagan origins as admitted by bishop newman(sp?

) in the 19th century?

should a faithfull jw have anything to do with candles therefore?

Actually, my dad ( an elder) has always hated incense. Looked very perturbed when he would visit and smell it in my home. Then again, one time he thought brothers who bought life insurance had no faith that the end was near..lmao

having spoken to many of my still jw relatives, they seem horrified by the new found patriotism in this or should i say our country!

they speak of it as something disgusting!

they preach neutrality, but if they are against a country's patriotism, are they being neutral?
