Trinity, Immortality of the soul, Hell fire... Homosexuality
by irondork inmost people here who have spent any amount of time studying the bible will agree that the bible allows for more than one interpretation of these topics.
well, the first three topics, anyways.. reading the gay marriage discussions on this board i see a common thread weaving its way through: no acknowledgement whatsoever that there is an equally valid interpretation of the bible that does not condemn homosexuality.. once in a while i will see the word trinity mentioned on this forum and no big deal is made of it (for the most part).
trinitarian and non-trinitarian teachings are accepted as variations of the christian understanding of the bible without any judgment being made regarding the genuineness of that person's christian identity or relationship with god.. mention the word homosexuality, and there is a huge difference in attitude.

So it is written from a scientific standpoint. I've given away a few copies, and passed my own along to close friends. We enjoy discussing it. I feel his story is credible.
No it isn't and why?
Cofty, sounds like you are still letting others do your thinking for you.
Why don't you simply answer his question rather than attack him personally (and ignorantly)?
So true that one can't prove such a journey to be true.
Doesn't make sense.

Congregation had to relocate Memorial...thanks to me
by Shepherd Book inso, the two local congregations were planning to hold their memorial together at 7:30 at the local community center, but they had to make a last-minute change to their own hall, and i'm pretty sure it was because of me.. let me explain.... at work on monday afternoon, a co-worker returned from her lunchbreak and showed me the memorial invitation that was waiitng in her door when she went home for lunch.
i noticed the sticker on the back indicated the memorial was being held, not at the local hall, but at the community center.
from a past (non-jw) event i attended there, i knew they didn't allow alcohol (unless you pay for security guards), so i wrote to the center's coordinator:.

If that was an example of the most intelligent thing you managed to do, I see no limits as to how childish people can behave.
This false dichotomy with an added strawman and ad hominem was an even better example.

The FIRST Memorial Ive missed in 41 years
by Londo111 inlast year, my last jw memorial, i listened to the talk as an outsider would.
the speaker strung unrelated texts together and for the first time, i saw that the interpretations made no sense.
afterward, i had a private memorial with homemade unleavened bread and wine with four people--three of whom partook.

Interesting Findings from the ESA Plank Satellite
by cantleave inthe european space agency has produced a fascinating map of the universe using the super dooper plank satelite.. by stripping out dust emissions and radio frequencies from the milky way galaxy and more distant objects to leave just the afterglow of the big bang, an image of the microwave radiation (measured over a 15 month period) has been obtained that gives an extremely precise picture of the universe just 380,000 years after the big bang.. what we have learned from this data is the universe is some 80 million years older than we thought, the universe is made up of slightly more ordinary matter than was previously thought - 4.9% of all matter, up from 4.5% - and that there is less dark energy (which cosmologists don't understand) than previously thought and also it has an axis of evil (it appears the early universe was assymetrical) and a cold spot!!.
so we need to go back to the drawing board with regard to inflation theory to account for the asymmetry and cold spot.. this is why i love science, the more we learn, the more we have to learn.
btw, god sisn't show herself!.

But we do know there was a BEGINNING, a situation before when nothing material exists, including time. Hmmm.....
How do you know this?

How long did you keep rooting for Walter White?
by slimboyfat inisn't this guy like the greatest anti-hero of all time?.
as the series wears on it is getting more and more difficult to sympathise with the guy.
but i must admit i stuck with him pretty far.

Walter has lost his way. Unless the show completely wimps out, the end of this show will be brutal time infinity. So far, Walter has always come out on top. Will he this time? What does on top mean? Will he sacrifice Hank? His family? Jesse?
Oh the suspense!

Thinking of having revenge on the jw girl
by spirituk inhello again, following my story with this girl , and after she blocked me on fb and not answering my phone calls since december , i am now thinking of taking revenge.my feelings of pain are starting to become hate ,and pain always is accompanied by the feeling of revenge to satisfy this bad feeling.i just cant simply forget what shes done to me.
the reasons of my revenge :.
1.she played with my feelings when she knew from the start that she would leave me one day.

Of course he should wait and think things through, but why is his desire for justice, revenge, vindication any different than ours.
Justice? What is that in this case? Hurting her back? Revenge? Revenge and justice are two different things. Vindication? Being told he was right? We have one side of a story from someone that sounds unstable and clearly isn't acting like an adult and accepting his part of what happened.
So tell me, what is justice in this case? Revenge? Vindication?

I need some options of what should i do. How can i revenge her? i was thinking sending by fax our conversations and photos which she begged me not to show them to anyone . What other punishments do you recommend? Also ,what consequences will that have on her and on me?
You could grow a set, act like a man and not an emotionally unstable psycho stalker for starters.

Entirely possible, what is,wrong with my statement? Please tell me. If I am clueless, rather than using such epithets, tell me where I am wrong
Well, for one, I didn't use an epithet....
Cofty already covered it. It's NOT random. It's chemistry and physics. When people start using the "chances of this happening randomly" comment it's a clear sign that they are repeating a bad claim without understanding WHY it's bad. For example....
It's like trying to say it's a miracle that snow from the top of a mountain ended up in the river in the valley because of all the possible directions it otherwise could have gone. Well, no, because if you take into account gravity and the shape of the terrain there were actually very few directions. Same things with chemicals combining. If you understand chemistry and physics on that level, no, the chances AREN'T astronomically high that you would get certain combinations, it's actually pretty likely that at some point you would.
As they, in a universe sufficiently large and on a time scale long enough, the odds of ANY given thing happening approaches 1 as long as it isn't explicitely forbidden by physics.
