i have been on this site daily, almost from its beginning, since i left the jws in 2001, but i have been more of a reader than a poster, as you can see from my post count.
i know few here know me, although i know many of you through reading your posts.
maybe it is not right to ask for support, when i generally stay quietly in the background of this forum, but i want only to speak a human misery of the deepest kind.
Suddenly she was not just an employee in a store handling routine matters, and I was not just another anonymous customer. Everyone in town knows about what happened. She hugged me and there was real human contact.
I just loved reading this . . . I'm sure everyone here would just love to do the same thing. As often as I see my sons I'm reminded of you.
Hang in there.
the victorian premier, ted baillieu and attorney-general robert clark made the announcement at parliament house at 1.15pm yesterday.. some would prefer a royal inquiry (see article), but either way, things could get uncomfortable in wt world down the track.. an inquiry was one of the key recommendations of an earlier inquiry into child protection by retired judge phillip cummins.. this was the same inquiry steven unthank made submission to in person, which was fairly well received.
the efforts many others have gone to in order to add weight will surely have also contributed.
a number here have made a contribution in various ways and can feel gratified by this progress.. the full herald sun article is here.. .

fyi.
steven hassan will be releasing a new book, soon.
freedom of mind: helping loved ones leave controlling people, cults and beliefs.
We're all learning . . . including Steve Hassan I don't doubt.
Based on past experience, I'm interested in anything he has to say.
Thanks for the post.
on 4/6, the poster orphan annie posted about her experiences with jw's and her ill husband.
unfortunately, her husband died monday, and she is feeling very sad.
i just wanted to make others aware of it, so that we can encourage her and give her some much needed support during this rough time.. her original thread is here.
Sorry to hear of your tragic loss Orphan Annie. Strength to you and your son.
i was a third generation born-in with no alternative reality, reference points or framework.. for more than forty years i was taught that the highest stakes (eternal life) main game is played on the doctrine playing field (supremacist ethnocentrism).
my eternal future apparently depended on which side of the trinity, hellfire and immortal soul doctrines i played.. apparently if i believed the watchtower way, even if it changed, i was in "the faith" and "the truth".
the same for legalism (supremacist self-righteousness attained by following the supposedly "right" but ever changing and inconsistent rules).. around 6 years ago, and for the first time in my life, one person asked me to explain what "the gospel" is in one word.
Just getting off the roundabout helps . . .
There's just too much that's irreconcilable in the evolution of religion. A more dispassionate (otherwise known as secular), examination of religious history will give you a full frontal of the complete animal . . . a ravenous pest that sustains itself on the doctrinal roundabout.
What you might find from within is simple and reliable . . . and not dependent on the lives of historical (or not) humans and their constructs. Pure human morality is the natural inheritance of every human born and is not complicated. The religious doctrinal roundabout only confounds and complicates, producing hate and conflict by distorting the natural inheritance.
Think of it as the analogous "tablet on the heart". Everybody has one. It's only by removing this distorting human construct that it can be found and read in it's simplicity . . . and it has nothing to do with religious belief or doctrine.

truman . . . heartfelt sympathies to you. I can't imagine your trauma. As a father with grown sons myself, this remains among my greatest fears. It's just terrible. With you in spirit . . .
so i was outside today cleaning the inside of my car and up stroll two jw's.
they have been around here a lot the past couple of weeks.
lol anyways i don't know either of these two clowns and they ask how i am and i said not to ask.
LOL . . . I guess day cant argew wiff dat.
i had to sit though the the special talk yesterday "is it later than you think", the brother a good deal of time making the case that major earthquakes are on the rise, and how i should believe it is "later than i think" based on that fact.
i took a bit of time to research this today, and sure enough they are not.
the link below has a chart of major earthquakes since the mid nineties, and it clearly shows they are random and all over the place.
BOTR . . . good points ^^
Earthquakes are part of how the earth works . . . like lightning, volcanoes, ice-ages, blah blah . . . it's a hostile place, always has been. All life runs risks just by being here. Anyone claiming it's God's doing, is painting him a right asshole.
It's been that way for billions of years . . . and we've been here 5 minutes. It's all so much crap . . .
@tootired2care . . . Poke it in front of him (nicely of course) . . . it's facts v bullshit. One day he might be grateful.
