CC reminded us . . .
I believe it was Hayden Covington who stated that the ban on blood was a means to get publicity and give JWs the sense that they were being persecuted for righteousness' sake.
Typical cult behavior . . . the same tactic was used by Rutherford in attacking mainstream Christianity. It has the overall effect of establishing demarcation between them and "Satans world" . . . thereby encouraging adherents to cleave closer to the 'group'.
This tactic is all but reinforced in misery's post on the latest talk . . .
People may not agree with us, but they will nonetheless admire our faithfulness.
Personally, I feel that very few (if any) at the top in WT, are fully convinced by the scriptural backing for this stand. More and more the onus of responsibility is being fostered on parents and individuals. As time goes by the WT Society is 'loosening' the reins and making it more of a 'conscience matter'.
Call me cynical, but I believe this is a carefully timed and graduated 'backing away' from an indefensible position in order to avoid legal ramifications . . . hence the need to give 'the flock' the impression that nothing has changed, ie; "WE don't accept blood" is gradually becoming "YOU shouldn't accept blood" . . . unless . . .
It's all about keeping the money and keeping the numbers . . . too bad if you die in the meantime because of it . . . but "well done good and faithful slave" . . . "your everlasting future is assured"
I don't know how they live with themselves
