  i gave him a half hour lesson about the cross and how long it took jesus to die.

  and how the torture stake would only keep you alive for about less than 30 minutes if that.

  If that's truly the case for JYD . . . I just can't see what the point is in beating a dead horse and publicly bragging about it.

  Without the aid of a crystal ball, I can't understand how all hope is lost . . . and if there is a tiny glimmer of hope . . . then there are better ways to go about it. Just my opinion.

  After Exiting the Witnesses - Are you O.K. Not Knowing about the Future ?

  it seems that religion has always been considered the opium of the people.

  or at least many tend to gravitate towards religion to have or solidify some sort of future with a supreme being overlooking them hoping to have a reward either in heaven or in the jehovah's witnesses case - living forever in a " paradise earth ".

  it seems that people can't just live day to day and let each day come to them with whatever happens.

  When I first "woke up" . . . I felt the 'spiritual void' of being without belief very keenly (as most do no doubt). I found much substance and solace in the philosophies of A Einstein . . . a great humanitarian.

  The most beautiful thing we can experience is the mysterious. It is the source of all true art and science. The distinction between the past, present and future is only an illusion, albeit a stubbornly persistent one.

  What's the most dumbest/petty thing you've heard of someone being "stumbled" over?

  - some loser once took offense that i hugged a sister goodbye at a leaving do and ran back to the elders like a little child telling on me.

  i was 15, this sister was in her 40s at the time.. - this elder said someone told him they saw me with a copy of the sun newspaper.

  yes, this paper is known for its 'page 3' topless girls but far from pornagraphic and i wasn't even thinking along those lines.. - one brother who had a good job was 'counselled' because he was actually able to buy himself nice things including a new car (shock, horror!!

  Brothers were counseled for wearing colored shirts

  Reminds me . . . in the first congregation I was in around early 80's . . . there was one brother who was so anal about this . . . in the back room there were three hangers with three white shirts on them . . . small, medium and large. These were for the visiting speakers who dared to wear anything other than a white shirt. A sister was even assigned to wash and iron them each time they were used. No kidding.

  Lets assume that the Bible is accurate - odd about Adam having sex with his wife?

  i was reading the book of jashar and it talks about how adam "knew" his wife after they were kicked out from the garden.

  does this mean that they did not have sex prior to this incident?

  also in jashar, chapter two it says adam once again knew his wife in the 130th year.

  My take opinion on what's transpired here . . .

  A strong "us and them" approach to JW's is one that ex-JW's should consider carefully. We used to be one after all. Some of us bothered householders for many years.

  If indeed it was Laverite's intention to "plant a seed of doubt" by his approach, and that was how he felt he could best do it in the circumstances . . . I have no issue with that AT ALL

  If it is our intention to "give them a slap" . . . then that is short sighted IMO . . . and will likely achieve nothing good.

  I guess it all comes down to motive . . . what we are trying to achieve . . . and we all have a different take on how best to achieve it.

  Only Laverite knows his true motive . . . but I give the benefit of the doubt and say . . . well done! . . . I hope something good comes of it.

  Please note . . . I am not attacking anyone . . . this is just my opinion.

  We live in CHCH (you lived here so you know where that is right?) . . . fields we go to are Mt Hutt and Porter Heights

  Mt Hutt has good snowfall and is usually first to open . . . good facilities and plenty of runs for boards . . . all NZ fields have no trees.

  a man i knew in england.his wife was a jw he wasnt.... i knew she had ran off with the elder..1999..was df so was the elder.. they were then reinstated -she divorced alan #1 !!!!
