elder body removed watchtower letter.
an elder body was removed last year in california.
most folks have never seen a watchtower letter breaking this news.
Good summary shepherd . . . pretty much started out as a pissing contest between two individuals wrestling for the executive power over a petty squabble. The BOE and Society then formed the subsequent battle lines. It appears however that control of funds and assests is also a less visible factor with illegal bank accounts being set up etc.
It becomes quite sickening when such transparently political squabbles are all presented in a "serving Jehovah" context . . . sickening and laughable at the same time.
i swear my money comes and goes.
last month i sign contracts that cost me one thousand bucks and today i have a thounsand dollar car repair.
its summer time and i know how imporant it is for my signifcant other to go to theme park, but i'm hurting.
Could I recommend a Ferrari? They are extremely economical to repair, even when 25 years old like mine.
Shit yeeah! . . . I would just love to turn up to the FS group in one!
the watchtower society hedge fundseveral weeks ago it came to my attention via the e-jehovahs-witnesses discussion board that the watchtower society had devised a new money raising scheme.
the scheme is to beg and borrow money from each individual congregation account, which they deem to be in excess of the congregation's actual expenses.
i half jokingly responded to the topic then that the watchtower has become a hedge fund.
If the WTS are selling property to invest, and gearing their investment with borrowings . . . then their exposing themselves to risk. Perhaps they'll yet be among the merchants who weep and howl?
What the Bible teaches: “Continue
putting up with one another and forgiving
one another freely if anyone has a cause for
complaint against another. Even as Jehovah
freely forgave you, so do you also.”—Colossians
3:13.
Lesson: Other people, including our family
members, will disappoint us at times. But if
we want God to forgive us, we must learn to
forgive others.—Matthew 6:14, 15.
Jesus said his disciples would be recognized for the love they had amongst one another, and it really doesn't get much simpler than that. Its hard to say this organization is loving when they have to throw a smokescreen over their unscrupulous behind the scene doctrines and policies.
Jesus also said . . .
You are searching the Scriptures because you think that by means of them you will have everlasting life . . . And yet you do not want to come to me that you may have life . . . I well know that you do not have the love of God in you. JOHN 5; 39, 40, 42 (NWT)
The Society KNOWS these things because they print them . . . however they DO NOT PERFORM . . . remind you of anybody?
dear friends,.
as you may know, the watchtower society takes great pride in its district conventions.
please contact me if you can attend any of these protests.. there is no reason why every district convention in the world could not have a protest and receive media coverage to expose the watchtower society.
most people posting as you already know are moral cowards, they are hiding behind there cartoon avatars still scared to death of the Watchtower Org.
You are not some anonymous fictitious bufoon sitting behind a computer screen pretending to be some internet therapist helping Jehovah's Witnesses.
Rick . . . why do you come on JWN with such hostility . . . insulting and denigrating the people here and stirring up hatred and division.
I really don't understand what motivates you to do that . . . could you explain this?
so, adam sinned, was unplugged from whatever, and slowly wound down and died.. satan sinned too.
so why wasnt he unplugged, and slowly wound down, to an eventual death as well?.
it seems that, left to nature, he will never die, as eventually god is going to have to destroy him..
Good point JLP . . . no consistent application of the law there.
According to God's standards . . . Satan should have been "disfellowshipped" the moment he tempted Eve with a lie . . . so as not to stumble the rest of the "congregation". Where would man be if justice had been administered swiftly and fairly eh?
this question has been bugging me for a while now .
since the last thread on the biblical flood.. it's like this .
.. immediately prior to the flood, jehovah had deemed the earth full of badness, totally wicked and "ruined" .
Thanks for your input everyone . . .
There have been some very good arguments and comments expressed here. Some have expressed similar bewilderment as to why the "issues" were not settled by the deluge . . . others have presented views which they feel accounts for that.
A previous post asked this question . . .
Tell me, assuming you were in a position of hiring and firing, what would you do if someone challenged your position?
In order to relate this to the topic, I can tell you what I wouldn't do . . .
1. I wouldn't take a years leave of absence and leave him to run the Company just to prove he couldn't do it.
2. I wouldn't let him continue to work according to his own ideas only to sack him a month later.
3. I wouldn't deliberately change his working conditions to make his job intolerable.
4. I wouldn't delay responding to his challenge just for the sake of his unborn children.
5. I wouldn't sack the whole work force on account of his challenge.
6. I wouldn't take the most obscure, cryptic and long-winded way possible to sort the matter while everybody suffered.
Not only would I do none of these things once . . . I certainly would not do them several times. And if I did do any of the above . . . I would expect to be challenged about my behaviour.
Without debating the validity or origin of the Bible, or dismissing the issue with excuses like "God is so much wiser than us etc etc" . . . I just want a credible explanation as to why all "issues" could not have been settled at that time . . . specifically, the following issues . . .
1. God allowing man self-determination to prove he was not capable of autonomy. (Sovereignty)
2. That men would not remain faithful under test. (Faithfulness based on love of God)
3. That sin be made manifest. (Man recognising the need for a savior)
These are not complicated issues.
can those prominent in the "apostate" world be criticized?
we expect that jws be willing to read and swallow what is written here about their leaders and i agree with this.
but...do we also allow criticism of those taking the lead among us?
Yeah . . . I've seen certain ones trot out their "credentials" as if it has anything to do with the subject being discussed. I've also experienced a certain hostility at times . . . posters taking exception to an opinion and then stalking you around the board for the sole purpose of disagreeing. As a newbie I've felt unaccepted at times. I've seen long time posters reel of a string of blue as if deliberately flouting the posting rules with impunity.
Having said all that . . . I think the drawing of paralells with the WTBS is totally invalid. This is purely human nature. It always takes a while to become "known" when joining a new group. It takes time for others to feel you out. There will always be some who express themselves more forcefully or vividly than others. Some discussions will become heated and emotional if they are important to the individual posters.
I've seen a few bannings . . . and "ticking offs" by mods . . . and in each instance there has been justification, inspite of the sadness at seeing it happen. Often . . . it can be sorted out behind the scenes . . . proved by the fact that some come back if they wish to. If someone "ticks me off" without justification I'm unlikely to take it lying down . . . long time poster or newbie, it doesn't matter with me. That's simply a case of who got here first . . . but if I violate the rules I've got no argument.
It's all just human nature on display. All in all, the owners and mods do a damn fine job . . . proved by the fact that this is a great place.
"some times the lord has let his people look for the right thing as the wrong time, and more frequently they have looked for the wrong thing at the right time.
" and "...it will be the other fellow that will have to do the explaining, and not we.".
1. germs don't cause disease.. 2. aluminum cookware will poison you.
The way to God/Spiritual truth is not in any earthly organization, but is an internal realization.
How many times does the truth of this statement need to be proved?
@Maze
Information published by Jehovah's Witnesses has a consistent pattern of corresponding to universal truth.
Since you're demanding proof that requires several volumes of information from others . . . how about some "proof" of this statement. The points raised in the OP just for starters . . . you haven't done that yet.
