  we do not teach critical thinking skills in the education system as well. . . . garyneal

  Critical thinking is often the enemy of conformity . . . it can recognise logical flaws and reject them. The upside is that new and better ways of viewing and doing things can also emerge. I wonder if society balks at doing this because of the fear of non-conformity. Those in power do not want critical thinkers . . . they prefer conformity. I also wonder if the "dumbing down" of the sheep we recognise so readily in WT world, isn't in fact a more general problem . . . because it's preferable for those who desire to control. Most education systems simply prepare young people to maintain the status quo . . . and to adopt the same faulty thinking of the past. It's one of the greatest disservices we can do to emerging generations I believe.

  if you were sexually abused by someone never leave a child alone with them or in the home where they are.

  Lady Lee . . . It's impossible to imagine your feelings as a child . . . that basic vital unqualified trust a child depends on so completely . . . is totally destroyed leaving you nowhere to go.

  I agree unreservedly . . . and it's usually permanent. I wonder if abusive parents, or those that allow it, have lost (or never had) an appreciation for how profoundly damaging this behaviour is. Not trying to make excuses for them . . . but if they too have come from a hidden abusive background, then a normal reaction to it is probably not possible. Of course, the WTS has no such excuse . . . and are constantly guilty of aiding and abetting this practice . . . when they DO in fact know better.

  Another reason why a general ignorance of how damaging it is prevails . . . is the understandable reluctance (even inability) of victims to reveal themselves fully and speak openly about it. The memories, the stigma etc., . . . it takes a very brave soul to emerge and speak out.

  That is why people such as yourself are so valuable L Lee. You're a champion. All the best to you.

  i hate doing this type of thread.

  none of us are perfect, least of all myself, and i would rather focus any criticism on the watch tower society for damaging people's lives.

  however, in the short period since i've been a member of this forum i've noticed one member in particular deteriorate in his behaviour into the type of individual who threatens to undermine the credibility of the entire website.

  now is a good time to start making preparations for the memorial night demonstration at your kingdom hall thursday, april 5, 2012, after sundown.. close to 20 million people will attend this annual global witness event including active witnesses, relatives and friends of witnesses, bible studies,return visits and still attached former witnesses.

  the evils of the watchtower org.have to be exposed and this is an ideal time to do it.. many around the world have been adversely affected by their association with jehovah's witnesses and you can be an instrumental force by standing tall and courageously exposing the watchtower organization.. there is no better way to let the watchtower know your revulsion than to broadcast and present your view by standing fearlessly, demonstrating in front of a kingdom hall.. i am fully aware that a handful of the internet therapists who post on this forum will not agree with this method of unmasking the watchtower.. those intolerant, contemptuous critics who will comment on this thread making harsh judgements and finding fault with those who protest are perhaps deep-down wishing they had the backbone to stop hiding in cyber-space, step away from their computer and "get out of the bleachers and into the game" .
