What night and channel does Dateline air? Time? I'm obviously not a big TV watcher. I don't want to miss this.

Dateline Update
by silentlambs inon sunday night i wrote the dateline update, since that time several questions have been raised regarding the dateline story.
i will not be able to answer all questions raised or try to defend the basis of the statements made in the dateline update.
i can say that we are getting very close to an airdate, so close i can taste it.

Funny Shunning....
by Scully inwe were shopping yesterday when i noticed a jw woman from our old congregation in one of the aisles.
normally i would go up and say hello, because i'm neither dfd or dad, but we were in a bit of a hurry, and i didn't want to spend much time in frivolous small talk.
a little background on her: when we knew her she was a pioneer, and could very well still be one; her mother is a pioneer; her twin sister is a pioneer, etc.... you get the idea.

I am still a JW. I took my kids bowling last night with about 40 others from our congregation. There was probably 20 adults there. I was pretty much ignored by every sister there unless I said something directly to them and they would answer and walk away. I barely got a hello from most of them. Just the one sister whom I've always been close with talked with me. Her daughter and mine are best friends. She gave me a hug when I was leaving, which was awkward but I think she saw the coldness towards me too.
My daugthers friend told her that this brother (ministerial servant), told her dad (elder) that my son was at the store with his worldly friends and that her aunt saw my daughter walking down the street with her wordly friend. My kids thought it was like weird, don't they have more interesting topics of conversation. My daughters friend is like telling my daughter you know better than to go over to a wordly persons house. It's not like my kids were doing anything wrong. And they are talking about us. We must be sooo evil.

More about me - my favorite subject
by Aunty insince everyone gave me a warm welcome i'll go ahead and tell you my whole story.
as i said before, i was raised in the truth in central ohio.
regular pioneered starting in senior year of high school (should have studied more instead...)for about 3 years, then decided to quit because i had a falling out with my best friend at the time and she and half her family were pioneering.

You know I thought the same way about my dad. But talked to him a few weeks ago about some of the things I read in COC and it sparked some interest in him. He asked if he could read it. I dropped it off to him yesterday. My dad is 78 and lives by himself. He still works and goes to meetings and service etc. I just couldn't stand him telling me how Jehovah directs this and that and blah blah blah. I'm not sure what he is going to do when and if he reads that book. But I know you can only be happier when the loads of the Borg are lifted off you.

Has Anyone Invited You to the Memorial?

I agree with you mama, I would probably like to go to another church service. There is a couple of problems, my kids aren't ready to leave the borg, (I've trained them all too well ages 17 and 13). I don't know of any churches that commemorate the memorial on the proper night. Most do the Easter thing. I am currently still a witness (from all appearances) again for my kids sake. I am un-brainwashing them slowly.

I'm going to attend and then partake at home. I would just not go, I hate the idea that they will COUNT me in their numbers of memorial attendance, but I feel it is so important to remember what Jesus did for us and my kids wouldn't understand. So I guess I must go!

Thank you all for your replys. Why do I feel as though I'm not worshipping God, if I don't go somewhere? What about the scripture not to forsake the gathering? I guess I've always been apart of some religious org. I was brought up Episcopalian, and then became JW. I enjoy hearing bible discussions (in person) and I would miss not having that. I also like hearing talks, maybe I don't agree with everything said but I'd like to go somewhere I can discuss what I do and don't agree with. Of course you can't do that as a Witness, but is there somewhere?

When you leave the borg. Where do most of you go? To any other church? Start your own? Not to anywhere? Do you miss getting together with other christians?

Raymond Franz's Betrayal
by IslandWoman inthanks for calling this to my attention.
my reason for not wanting book material to be run on certain web sites is purely because of finding their approach out of harmony with my own principles and standards, so many are engaged in watch tower trashing and extremely negative.
some sites present material that promotes agnosticism and distrust of the scriptures, even atheism (one such site being in scandanavia).

You can copy your post below to make sure it is not lost:
I can understand Ray's feelings. This is a great forum, but there is a lot of stuff said here that is so unscriptural and crude. I am sometimes shocked at what people say here quite often, however there are alot of people here that are going through a difficult time in their life and it's a place to help you get through it and realize there are others going through the same thing.
I am grateful that Ray wrote his books in the manner he did, and that he approached things in the classy manner in which he does. If he had written with the tone in which alot of people here do I would have thrown the book away after 1 or 2 chapters. People here need to realize when you get crude and mean you are really doing this forum a diservice because someone who is in the truth who may stumble upon it when they see some of these things it will be a big turn off and they won't continue to read.
