For mother's out there...cleaning a son's bedroom!
by restrangled inmy son is twenty years old, a good kid, is doing great in college so i usually keep the door closed to his bedroom so i don't have to look.
today he took out a huge batch of laundry for me to do and the odor from that bedroom had me reeling.. here is my humorous but deadly serious post on the matter:!!!!!.
after vacuuming, enough dust to fill the entire dust bin in the vacuum.. enough change on the floor to keep him in fast food for a week.....(don't ask me for money).

Why do people go to church. What is the purpose? You don't have to go to a certain place to worship God. You can do that anywhere, anyhow you want to. I was just wondering, actually I mentioned that I might go to church this evening and my daughter asked me why. I go every now and then. I don't know it is uplifting to me some how. I was wondering what others think?

by proplog2 ini think this is a good thread to post feelings about the various evolution/creation and atheism/theism disputes on this discussion board.. i don't really care whether most people believe in god or not.
all i care about is that science keeps doing its job.
most theists are going to contribute almost nothing to the next stage of scientific progress.

You don't believe in God.... so Who cares. Honestly, you are entitle to your own opinion. However, Science has never been able to prove how life began. All they have is theories. Theories are educated guesses at best. Evolution is a theory and I don't care if it is taught in school as long as it is taught as a THEORY because that is what it is. I hate it when then present it as if it is a fact. As long as they are teaching the THEORY of Evolution they can also teach the THEORY of Creation. That way kids can be presented with all the facts and make an informed decision.

Elders on my tail
by FourMs inas mentioned before, i have not been to a mtg since january.
i have not spoken to anyone in the congregation about my decisions as of late and i dont plan on informing anyone either.
i have had the elders at my door at least once a week for the last few months and every car group out in service that needs to fill in some time are stocking me here too.

Gary1914 That cracks me up. I use to make up hour the last year or so. I remember I would turn my time in for myself and have my kids and husband turn theirs in. Every now and then the elder who was in charge of keeping track would call me in like say September and say I am missing your hours for May and June I was wondering if you could tell me what they were. Like I remember what the heck I did 3 or 4 months ago. I got irritated because this would frequently happen. Towards the end, this brother came up to me at the meeting and asked me. I told him you've got to be kidding me. Do you think I remember what I did then. Why don't you just pick a number. Look at the time I turned in over the last 6 months and average it that sounds like a good number to me. He looked at me like I had told him to take a flying leap. Which in a sense what I told him to do.

My husband and I read both books. They are both great reads. I really like his humility and his loving way, after all the crap they put him through. I was amazed he could be so nice and not really say anything mean his books.

What does it mean to be saved?

i was told that salvation was believing in christ, but shouldn't there be something else to do?

Thats it!!! Amazing isn't it? Yes God loved the world so much that he gave his son in order that everyone having faith in him should be saved. No minimum hours you have to put it. No prerequisites. Just faith in his son. Now if that amazing love should move you to clean up your act and love others that is your choice. But all you have to do is believe and put faith in Jesus Christ! It isn't as easy as one would think.
