i didnt know what other word to use but nerdy,, but you will get the picture when i tell you a couple of my favorites.
or maybe they are not so much "nerdy" as they are just off the beaten path singers,,maybe even a bit odd.

I wasnt much for Donnie Osmond, but Leif Garrett was hot. I hide a picture of him ,I pulled out of Tiger Beat and hung it in my bathroom closet..............IDOL Worship ewwwwwwwww,,,I should have confessed huh??
.
when you are stressed out of your brains or bored, what sort of activities do you do to make yourself feel better?
gbl
If I am so stressed , I will headaches ,so a good nap, in a dark room works. I like to just shut off , like a robot sometimes.
If I am stressed and mad,,,,,, I clean.
Sometimes I go down to our little home town bar and order my first beer,,,,,,it doesnt take long taking to friends and hearing their crappy day events before I put my own into perspective.
ok 20 years out only 10 years free (cuz sometimes i'm a slow learner).
yup may makes 20 years since i officially got the boot.
20 years since i lost my entire way of life and had to start all over - no money, no home, no education, no job.. there's a sad kind of irony here in that except for the education i'm sort of in the same boat.
Lady Lee,,,,,,,,,,girl hugs to you!!
You know reading this board the last few days and hearing so many declaring their independence from the borg, their sheer happiness in the little things in life and just living,,,,,,,has made me feel so good.
Lady Lee you have always been one of the most inspirational poster on this board to me. All that you have been thru, and still keep on going , shining thru. You help sooooooo many people here, and I know you sure helped me.
Thanks for all of what you have done and will do, and for being such a wonderful Lady.
Hugsssssss Dede
what is the saddest song that brings tears to your eyes just about every time you hear it?
mine is harry chapin's cats in the cradle
Avishai.....omg!!
How about "Who want's to live forever", "Love kills" And "The show must go on" the last one is just sad 'cus he knew he was gonna die soon when he was singin it. .
You are so right. I love that song in the Highlander movie when Heather dies..that was her name right? Man, I love Freddie Mercury.
Thanks Bem for what you said......sometimes I just write what is exactly on my mind, hoping it doesnt offend anyone....lol.
I love Pearl Jam's version of Last Kiss,,,,,,,,excellent, talk about some drums in that !!

Bem that does make me cry, I love the Dance by Garth.
Looking back on the memory of
The dance we shared 'neath the stars alone
For a moment all the world was right
How could I have known that you'd ever say goodbye
I just change a lyric or two everytime I hear that song..........." For a moment all the world was right.........How could I have know that you'd ever take your life"........Morbid maybe.......but it was my reality with my Mother's suicide.
There was another song that reminded me of my Mom, I can't think who sang it , an R & B group back in the 80's or early 90's,,,,," I miss you".

Oh yeah I forgot " Bohemiem Raphsody " ( did I slaughter that spelling) by Queen. Freddie had the best voice ever.
i think most of us here agree that our past belief in the jw organization as being god's sole chosen people was delusional on our part.
for myself, when i lost that delusion (fairly abruptly too), i came out of a long period of depression immediately.
while i was incredibly angry at having been decieved, i can't say that that anger translated into any other negatives, in fact, overall, i think my general level of anger, even at elders/the gb/etc subsided, as i now understood why they do what they do even better than they themselves understand it.
((((((((((((Sixy, how are you?))))))))) Great topic.
Oh yeah,,,,, I went off the deep end, I dropped my basket, I lost it, I was a mess.
I too drank too much, which let all the pain come out, but not in a healthy way, it was so self destructive.
I mourned as if it were a death of a beloved family member. In fact it was comparable to grieving over my Mom's death.
But you know I had to grieve , I had to go through ,,,,it to get through it. It was so painful, but I am happy now and I understand all those crazy feelings I felt .
To tell ya the truth it is good to hear that others did the same thing,,,,,,,I don't feel like the only one who lost it when we lost our religion.

Prophecor ,,,,,,,,,,,Thank you so much for this:
The above portion in lyric makes me realize that the song was probably written with regard to ones losing their parent in death. Strange too, I wonder about our dear brother, Prince Nelson Rogers, as he was the writer of that tune, what effect it may've had on him upon his mother dying, it being an impetus for his getting baptized as a witness.
OMG,,,,,,, I never knew that song was about Prince's Mother who passed!! It makes sense now.
When I heard that song, I feel apart because it hadnt been that long since my Mother passed and I identified with that song so much.
I never knew if the song was about someones Mom's passing but that is how it sounded to me. But I am always good at changing lyrics in my head to make them fit my situation.
I love Prince, JW and all.....lol. Just hope he leaves the borg, and gets back to making more of what he is best known for. Wont it be something when he gets out of the borg and writes anti cult songs............OMG!! And we know he can.......hope it is soon.
I love Purple Rain and When doves cry,,,,,,the man has a tortured soul but what an artist .
i didnt know what other word to use but nerdy,, but you will get the picture when i tell you a couple of my favorites.

barry mannilow,.
Ya'll picked some of my favorites, I LOVE the Carpenter's , what a loss of Karen . Glen Campbell was a favorite back in the day.
Air Supply was pretty hot for a teenage girl back in the 80's but all the guys thought they were nerds.
I was a weird kid because I loved rock , country and R& B as a kid. I mean I am sure there were others like me but none of my friends would have been caught dead listening to Barbara Mandrell, or Percy Sledge. Hey I still love 'em.
