Let's Decorate the Kingdom Hall!

one thing that always sucked about the kingdom hall was it's blandness.

bland wallpaper, bland paint, no pictures, no windows, maybe a fake plant or fake flowers, the big sign with the years text, the cork board, and contribution boxes.

boring.. what would you put into a kingdom hall to make it look more interesting?

First I would get rid of the 80's pink and blue that is still in exsistance at our old hall. Also the backdrop thing handing behind the speakers stand,,,,,,looks like a woman's room window covering at a brothel.

I would install movie theater quality seats , you just have to learn how to sleep with you eyes open. I am sure my son mastered this one.

I would make a wonderful mother and baby room. This one I am serious about. We had a make shift one in the library , it only had a rocker in it because my FIL insisted that his premature grandson would be soothed while away from home , he was so sick. When we left the hall we took the rocker. A playpen would have been nice for the toddlers, with a few...........*gasps* toys in the pen for them to play with.

Hot water would have been nice to warn the baby bottles with.

Sad huh, little country congregation, the ons in the city were not so cruel.

they have finally published what many of us here have known for a long time.

the july 15, 2006 watchtower has three study articles, the second one will be of intense interest.

Really, the society is openly shooting itself in the foot. First they give a demo at last week's DC on a brother searching the web for JW relief efforts in Louisiana, who stumbles on "negative talk about the Governing Body" and then they openly admit there are dissenters within their ranks.

In the demo,,,,,,,,how did they end that? Did the Brother, unplug his computer, exit the site right away, go talk to the elders? Really how did they end that demo?

Cannabis vs Alchohol and Other Man Made Pharmacuticals

well for starters i do have a prescription for cannabis (insomnia / depression).... why would i want to take pharmacuticals for insomnia/depression?

i mean, what if i get prescribed/addicted to a pill, that one day i might not be able to afford?

(if you/i grow cannabis it's more/less free)... now the moral issue... who is more likely to beat the shit out of their kids?

Didn't one of the great Queens, Elizabeth or Anne, put the weed in her bon bons? I could eat a couple of bon bons right now, solely for medical reasons I can assure you...lol.

Darcy blab all you want here , no one is telling the elders here a thang! It is a good thing to talk about what you are feeling , you get good feedback and you can make your own choices on what you do with your life. I do know some people who totally do not believe in any of the JW stuff anymore , yet they are still elders, active etc, because of work issues, and many for family reasons and I can totally understand that. Each to his own, and in a year you may be in a totally different place than you are now, I know that is how it happened for me when I first came here.

Take your time and blab about whatever you want , you seem to have a good head on your shoulders and will make the best choices for the good of yourself. In the end,,,,,,,,"to thine own self be true". You don't answer to anyone.

Has it ever just hit you that......

has it ever just hit you that you need to crawl out of the hole you have been in and that you didnt even notice it?

just a couple of days ago, i awoke to the feeling of needing to change some things.

most of you know that i lost my sister right before xmas and that hit me hard, knocked me to my knees and i honestly think that is where i have been for awhile.

That is sweet of you Arthur, thanks,,,,,did you see in another thread that I commented on my love for "Arthur", one of my favorite movies. I watched it the other day, I still love Hobson as well. That is one of my top 20 favorite all time movies.

Darcy I only wish I had taken my time on my own way out, not saying that is your intention , but that's your choice. When I was found out, I didnt get to play by my own rules, I thought I had to be honest and be so true to myself. Well I still believe that, but I would have done things in my own time instead of theirs, I would have not played by their rules at all.

When I disassociated myself, I was not completly sure of myself or my resolve as I wish I would have been. It was so hard to lose my religion and if I had been able to give myself more time it would have saved me some pain.

So you do agree with most of the JW teachings? Even disagreeing or not beleiving even one of the main teachings of JW is enough to get you booted out and called an apostate. That's all it took for me.

Bascially that is why I am not a JW today, because at first it was just a couple of things I found true fault with. I found out more with time and my conscience would not allow me to be part of that religion anymore. I literally could not keep quite or keep my feelings to myself and say to myself, well I have my own viewpoint and try to go on to each and every meeting and be what they wanted me to be.

If you ever tell your elders what you are saying , or thinking , your doubts they will mark you , with apostasy in mind.

keep trying to get to your meetings remember the sister who walked 2 hours one way to feast at the spiritual banquet , or the bro who crossed crocodile infested waters to get to his meeting.. anyone remember any other guilt trip inducing illustrations?

There is no way. If only that poor woman or man ,, only knew those seven miles would get him no where in the end.

Honestly I knew a sister , who was this way,,,,,,,,she was always suffering in one way or another to make meetings, or make ends meet to service Jah. It was hard to see her daughter suffer .

WHAT DOES THE WORD...."SOON"....MEAN???

the watchtower magazine has used the word "soon" on many an occasion to point out to its readership how near armageddon really is.. a word that can mean anything, in effect, actually means nothing.

consequently, let's examine what "soon" actually means by definition and use.. there can only be three stages of time:.
