  What is the societies motivation?

  i hear and read and form my thoughts about the insanity that was my life and those of others who experienced being a jw.

  i am still stumped.

  as much as i disagree with jw, have strong opinions about it, and feel it is very unhealthy, what is "their" motivation?

  a good question.

  I do agree with Bigboi :

  "I think a great many of them really do believe they are a part of God's organization. If they don't, they either keep quiet or speak out and lose everything they know and love. That's a powerful motivation to turn a blind eye to wrongdoing. You know us humans, often times that's all we need."

  New Book, a Powerhouse

  i've received numerous questions asking for documentation of issues raised on this board.

  some threads have gems that get developed, then buried, and someone raises the same question.

  cd roms whirr.. for some ray franz is more than sufficient, others also enjoy the perspective of "apocalypse delayed" by trained historian james penton, which was vital to me personally.

  Accuracy of Bible Translation

  i am trying to find out more on the translators of the jw's bible.

  they claim and so it claims in the front of their bible that it was translated by experts in greek and hebrew.

  what training if any did these people actually have in these ancient languages.

  Hello Ruffiani,

  a good question.
  In mho, the best way to approach the true meaning of
  a Bible's verse or entire part is to consult a number
  of different translations and possibly using a good
  Hebrew/Aramaic/ and greek dictionary.

  why are there so many star trek refferences among x-jw's?

  like the borg getting assimilated, etc.

  i heard before that star trek was very popular in bethel despite warnings not to watch it.

  a lot of publicity, particularly in Europe, where many
  things are unknown.

  Btw, can you tell me, if BoozeRunner comment is correct, :

  Hello Malk and the others,

  quite a controversial subject. But as most
  of us are aware this firl of " STEM CELLS" to be used also
  for grafting are already advanced in many countries. Many
  lives have been saved by useign stem cells from the "newborn
  omb. cord". This kind of grafting, as written in many medical
  journals, are considered and termed as " cells transplants "
  and therefore...you've guessed ..."a matter of conscience".

  So why all this contrary opinions?? Do we care about life?

  Finally I do agree with Thirdson:

  "I'm in favor of the research particularly as has recently been reported embryo stem cells can be made from an ovum with the genetic material from any cell of a potential patient. It is like setting the clock back on the cell's biochemistry and fooling the cell into rapid replication and behaving as a non-specialized embriotic cell.."

  watchtower since 1969. it still is available in it's second editon.. but how many really use this book?

  a good topic indeed.
  Btw i do also have the KIT, (2 different versions)
  and I have used sometimes for the greek words.
  I do find very interesting Thirdson answer and the
  research from Gsark. Thanks for the information.

  doing research about children slaves i remembered a watchtower article from the early sixties.

  it had the title:.

  in this article the watchtower society really take the gloves off and give us a glimpse of its real personality, an excellent reflection of the very god they worship.

  all the thinking behind the scene. How different from
  the "wording " used now from the P.R. and the various
  "Press Release". Clearly, twisted tongue, deceit and
  false information, but as you mentioned at the time of
  the quotes...ARMAGHEDON was AGAIN around the corner!!
