What is Faith?
by Mackin inwhen i was a 'dub, i beleived that faith was the hebrews 11 thing, but since i have put aside that way of thinking and no longer believe god or believe the bible to be anything more than a collection of human history and philosophy, i tend to think in terms of faith being no more than the dictionary definition: .
1 a : allegiance to duty or a person : loyalty b (1) : fidelity to one's promises (2) : sincerity of intentions.
2 a (1) : belief and trust in and loyalty to god (2) : belief in the traditional doctrines of a religion b (1) : firm belief in something for which there is no proof (2) : complete trust.

I Just Can't Do It!
by Sentinel ini was rather surprised to see this subject in the forum, and so it peeked my curiousity.. when i was floundering in the borg, i really slowed down to a snails pace as far as reading any of the wt literature.. when i decided to walk away, (at the time with guilt and self doubt), i got rid of all the literature.
i had not renewed my wt subscribtion, and was not getting any other literature in the mail.
so, there was nothing coming in.

About a year ago I went through a kind of "cleansing" that involved removing every trace of dub-dom from my life. I took all my old WT literature, bibles and all, to the dump (and I had a substantial library) as well as got rid of all the little things, old lapel badges, assembly programs you name it. You will not find any vestige of my former life as a 'dub' in my house.
Recently my sister-in-law gave me a Watchtower magazine which I politely accepted so as not to hurt her feelings (she was REALLY nervous about giving it to me) but after she left I used it to light the fire.
Now I feel free from the borg.

Mrs Warburton...
by refiners fire inim working in an electrical store , a one man operation, and everything goes thru a computer system called "myob", all purchases and sales.
anyway, i wouldnt have a clue how to operate this myob program except for selling company registered parts.
some salesman from the parent company told me to obtain a rubber seal for a vegetable steamer the other day, it was for a little old lady called "mrs warburton".

JW Rules That Are Just "Too Much"!
by Ephanyminitas ini'm curious: what rules have you dealt with that were just "too much" -- whether they were "official" (i.e.
in print) or not?.
i think a good, general one is r-rated movies.

There are links to the document on Watchtower Observer. Follow the blood links.
It was implemented about 1999/2000 or thereabouts.
The legal form will probably differ slightly from country to country but the one I saw said that once you gave Power of Attorney to someone, to have them uphold your stand on blood, you could not verbally revoke it in an emergency. So if you were in the ER screaming "I've changed my mind, Give me Blood" the person with power of attorney could overrule you and prevent blood being given.
How controlling is that!

I agree with everything that has been said so far, the list of excessive rules is soooooo long.
The thing that tipped me over the edge however was the "Medical Directive" that gives another person Enduring Power of Attorney over you for the rest of your life! And it can't be orally revoked by you even if you want to.
I saw this as the Borg removing every last vestige of personal freedom from me. I refused to sign it or use it. Not long after I stopped attending meetings.

How do YOU deal with it??
by bad_associashun inhello all- recently joined, had some probs getting logged in, but here at last.... anyway, the question is: for those that can relate, when your heart feels heavy from the hurt, pain, regret, sorrow, bitterness, anger... and the lost years, stolen time, forsaken friends, broken relationships, wasted energies, abandonment, and lost love weighs on you --> caused by wt org.
stress.... how do you get past it?
what heals you, brings you relief, rescues you from total worthless feelings of inadequacy, comforts your wounds, keeps you from jumping on the train tracks?.

Watchtower Support Blood Machine
by Spotlight inhot off the press!
it seems that the wt have been responsible for contributing towards a 'blood machine'.
if this story is true, its explosive!
-
Mackin
This "Blood Machine" you refer to is a Cell Saver, it reduces the need for blood transfusions.
Actually the 'dubs have done this several times before in several countries. I remeber years ago they made a similar donation here in NZ.
Not that I'm in any way trying to defend the 'dubs but I don't think this is quite the scandal you are tryiing to make it into.
