Question for all Jw.com
by haujobbz ini dont know if you been asked this before but what made you give up your religious beliefs,i assume that not all on here were jehovahs witnesses so if you were not please say.well i will telll you why i left, i got baptised as a jw 2 yrs ago and then started to notice say 6 months after baptism that the followers didnt really heed the what they were being taught it didnt seem to motivate them in their hearts, to say display genuine love it was more like a routine to them to be at meetings, talk to same ones, read watchtowers,it seemed so mechanical like robots,im not saying this is what caused me leave because i was serving genuinely i was really interested in practising what i preached, but i found it hard because everyone wasnt trying to do the samething.so then gradually i started to question things and then i got the internet last year and was itching to look on these so called apostate sites, you see i wanted to prove these sites wrong but in the end i was proved wrong with things like prophecies, jws past history, etc.
so thats my story

What kind of Apostate are YOU?
by SYN inthat's right, what class of apostate do you fit into?
personally, i'm of the faithless (i'm close to being an athiest) and indiscreet (no explanation needed) class.. are you of the enviable smurf apostate class?
or perhaps even the haunted second-hand furniture apostate class?

I am of the "out-and-wish-my-family-was-too" class. However I don't want to come over too overtly apostate and scare them.
I am also of the "have-heard-of-some-old-friends-who-are-out-and-trying-to-contact-them" class. If there are any lurking around here please e-mail me, I would love to hear from you.

Mackin's Stress-Busting bath recipe:
- Buy a selection of 'bath bombs' and some candles and your favourite incense.
- As soon as you get home strip off the clothes you've been wearing all day and put on something loose and comfortable. Baggy T-shirts and track pants are great. Get rid of underwear.
- Run a hot bath. Don't use cold water.
- Go make dinner while the bath cools. Don't rush dinner, eat it unhurriedly and enjoy the meal.
- After dinner go into the bathroom and light several candles and a stick of incense. Turn off the light and fan so that the room is quiet and the only light is from the candles.
- Place a 'bath bomb' in the water and let it dissolve.
- Slide into the bath and just r-e-l-a-x. Let the stress, strains and cares of the day evaporate with the steam. Visualise all the pressures of the day disappearing into the mist.
- Make this as quiet a time as possible. Relaxing music is OK but try to avoid loud music or a lot of noise.
- This is a great time to meditate.
- If you have someone special in your life this is an ab fab way for the two of you to relax together.
- When you feel it's time to get out, dry yourself off and get straight into bed. Sleep naked. If you have trouble sleeping burn some lavender oil in the room before retiring.

Who are the Zone and Branch Overseers?
by Reborn2002 inevery congregation is visited twice a year by the circuit overseer and reamed a new asshole for not placing enough magazines.. every year all jehovah's witnesses in good standing attend the district convention, where they hear at least one talk from the circuit overseer's boss, the much heralded district overseer.. if you are a fortunate (in their eyes) jehovah's witness (or a bethelite), you are privy to the opportunity to hear a "special" talk at a convention from a member of the governing body.. what about the upper management in between the ceo's and the middle management?.
how come one never hears of a talk given by a zone overseer or a branch overseer?.
i was always curious about that, but never bothered to learn enough about jw hierarchy that late in my term with the cult to find out.. any one have an answer?

The Zone Overseer is not a permanent position. Every year or two someone is appointed to visit the branches in a specific region and check up on them. Down here in the Asia Pacific region it was sometimes a Branch Committee member from one of the big branches (Japan, Aussie), sometimes one of the non-GB high flyers from Brooklyn, sometimes a GB member. There is usually a special talk arranged when the Zone Overseer visits. While I was in NZ Bethel Lloyd Barry came to visit twice as Zone Overseer, he used it as a free trip to visit his relatives who live here (Barry was himself a New Zealander).
The branches are run by a Branch Committee and there is no Branch Overseer pre se, he's called the Branch Coordinator (a technicality I know). All the Branch Committee members give convention talks unless they're too senile to do so.
I've been out of Bethel for about 6 years and out of the Borg for about 4, so things may have changed slightly since then.

Would/Do you wear a Cross around your neck ??
by Prisca inafter all that we had drummed into us about not the cross, and particularly about not venerating the symbol itself, i have been wondering about this issue.. so, what are your views about wearing a cross around your neck ?
is it just a fashion accessory, or does it mean something to you ?.

Am I the only one here from Perth WA?
by Cath ini am just getting the courage to post again after being offline for some time.
since i last posted there has been a lot of activity with newbies joining at quite an astounding pace so i find it amazing that there seems to be no newbies from western australia.
perth is said to be the most isolated capital city in the world and it sure feels like it at the moment.

Hey Cath, good to meet you.
I'm one of the NZ apostates that Beck didn't want to mention. I'll be at the apopstofest in Canberra in September. Don't believe everything Beck says, we are all really wonderful people.
I hope you become a regular in our little Anzac Apostate group.
