My son was murdered today
by truman ini have been on this site daily, almost from its beginning, since i left the jws in 2001, but i have been more of a reader than a poster, as you can see from my post count.
i know few here know me, although i know many of you through reading your posts.
maybe it is not right to ask for support, when i generally stay quietly in the background of this forum, but i want only to speak a human misery of the deepest kind.

Feeling a little weird today
by Bucholz inhello everybody, so i've been out of the wt for almost a year now.
i did go to the memorial last year, but that was pretty much the last meeting i attended.
thing is, as a born-in, i have never missed one, this will be the first.. don't get me wrong, i have absolutely no desire to go back, but after all these years there's a weird feeling about it.

Hello everybody, so I've been out of the WT for almost a year now. I did go to the Memorial last year, but that was pretty much the last meeting I attended. Thing is, as a born-in, I have never missed one, this will be the first.
Don't get me wrong, I have absolutely NO desire to go back, but after all these years there's a weird feeling about it. Also I have run into 2 JW's I hadn't seen in a long time and know I'm out but still speak to me, and both of them invited me to the Memorial. Just 2 minutes ago my grandfather, who had never called me on the phone (but still speaks to me) invited me to attend his.
Even though I would hate the idea of even coming close to a KH, I'm starting to think about whether I should go or not. What would you do guys?

Independent verification of Mexico Vs. Malawi
by Knowsnothing ini posted on manki's crisis of conscience thread the following, and decided it deserves a thread of it's own (giving it was completely ignored, lol).
i'll give you a head start, manky.. http://tearsofoberon.blogspot.com/2009/10/mexico-military-and-jwsthe-truth.html.
under the subheading 6.0 lies and exaggerations, he goes on to say this:.

All right, I used to be a 4th Generation Mexican Witness. The policy regarding military service changed recently, around 2004. Now there is a provision for "conscientious objection". Also, the law was modified that same year so that the 'cartilla' is no longer necessary to obtain a passport or other such important documents as it was in the past.
Fortunately I was 17 years old at the time, so I didn't have to go through the process of bribing somebody to get it (obviously I have since left the Jw's). I wanted to add that not all JW Mexican males bribed an official, though it was acceptable. My father for example, back in the early 80's gave a fake address so that if he got the 'black ball', he wouldn't have to do any military service. Many did the same, if they got the 'black ball' sometimes they would just forget about it.
All that said, the 'cartilla' is now irrelevant here and it's only needed if you want to work in any law-enforcement agency.

My Father passed away during the night
by jwfacts indad was a great man, great, despite the religion.
he was powerful, tall and intelligent, yet humble and kind.
he was an introvert, and a circuit overseer.

Soldiers of Jah
by cofty ini would like to propose an ethical dilemma for those who believe in the divine inspiration of the bible.. in the following scenarios i am not asking you what you would have done but rather, what you hope you would have had the courage to do.. scenario 1. you are camped on the east side of the jordan waiting for orders to cross into the promised land.
moses is nearing the end of his life but he has some unfinished business to take care of before he hands over to joshua.
he announces that he has had an instruction from god to take revenge on the midianites before he dies.

Went to my first meeting today anonymously!
by TimothyT inhi everyone.. jack and i decided we would go to his local kingdom hall this morning.
although i have no interest anymore in being a jw, i think its still nice to have regular bible discussions, etc, which can give you something spiritual to think about each week.
i love it and i think its damn good for you.. today, jack and i walked in, a little nervous, but were greeted and welcomed like friends.

I would say you're suffering from a nasty case of Stockholm Syndrome.
