Apart from the classics of The Sound of Music, Caberet, My Fair Lady,, Singing in the Rain - I also like the more naturalistic variety of John Carney music based movies of Once and Sing Street. The Commitments was also fun too.

What is the name of this specific book?
by QuestionAskerPersonMan ini'm taking a class, and we are learning about jws.
my teacher is talking about a "big brown book" that is used for any questions or scriptures quoted by the person who jws are talking to.
he used it in the context that if they don't know the answer off the top of their head, they look for the verse in this book.. what is the name of this book?.

Obviously we can't know the details. It'd be nice to know is she was pleased though - whether it went well or badly from her standpoint.

I would like to rant about how I get really upset when I get some weak invitation back to the cult.
by schnell inmy mother wanted me to know that the co gave a talk that kinda-sorta reprimanded an elder in her hall.
he is not the reason i left at all, and this does not address anything to do with me or our family.. my mother-in-law sent me texts which i ignored and now she has sent a picture to my wife on facebook just for me, and it's a prodigal son meme that says, "you see the signs, come back it's not too late".. yeah, it's not too late to accept a global flood in 2370 bce, or that man was created in 4026 bce from a golem spell, or that an us-and-them cult mentality is at all healthy or loving, or that religion is going to be banned by the un, or that i should expect anyone else at the door to accept these stupid ideas in the information age.. what am i supposed to say?
i usually just ignore them, but before i do that, i see that shit and i storm into this weird internalized rage where i start writing a response and deleting it.

You did the right thing. Writing the text got it out of your system. Sending it could of only had a negative outcome.
I think particularly after the last assembly there is a danger witness family will independently shun you for being critical.
You have maintained mastery over yourself and can take pride in that.

Audio Of JW News Report On Radio - Child Abuse

It says this recording is from December 2016 which surprises me as I heard about this document destruction at least a year ago. I don't think its even called the Goddard inquiry anymore after she resigned. God knows if or when this ever comes to any kind of resolution.

Yeah I'm a fan of the Detectorists. Its warm, gentle and funny.
Going through my server to recall what I have enjoyed lately. I like a Netflix superhero series so Jessica Jones, Daredevil etc. Looking forward to Iron Fist. Agents of Shield, The Flash etc - I do like escapism. Stranger things was very enjoyable. I enjoyed The Crown very much. Mr Robot is good, Veep of course. Transparent is so excellent, I love that. I really enjoyed Better Things about a single parent raising her kids. An Australian show called Cleverman is unusual and enjoyable. I love Girls and looking forward to the last season of that. Westworld was excellent. I love Jane the Virgin. I'm a fan of Longmire. I'm sure I am too old for it but I really enjoyed Trollhunters which I watched recently. Also Heartland is a guilty pleasure and I am completely the wrong sex and age to be watching it. I can't recommend it exacly, but I find it highly comforting. The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt has a quirky humour I enjoy. Silicon Valley is okay. Leah Remini: Scientology and the aftermath of course. As far as British shows, I am currently watching No Offence on channel 4 which is great. I loved Pete Kay's Car Share and I'm hoping there will be a second series soon.
I am just about to watch the last episode of the OA which I have read is supposed to be a let down but I'll watch it anyway.
There are way more and I could include ones others have mentioned but I think its enough lol.

Orwell's 1984. Turned into a theatre stage play performance!
by stuckinarut2 inhttps://www.sydneytheatre.com.au/whats-on/productions/2017/1984.
this looks interesting!!
a modern take on orwell's classic 1984.. we all have found the comparison of orwell's book to witness life to be fascinating, so this could be a great play to see!.

1984 jumped to number 1 on Amazon's bestseller list as of last week. Its not hard to guess why.

How much money people usually donate to WT ?
by Bardamu ini grew up in the org and never got baptised, however i was wondering recently about how much money my family and old friends are wasting in all that.
.
i remember of course never talking in amounts, that it was important to give from what you can not what you have etc but i admit i have no clue how much the average witness gives (say in % of their income).. i'm sure it varies greatly, i'd love to hear what you guys have to say..

Left at the age of 26. I can't remember ever donating once. Maybe a few food tokens at an assembly back in the day as a child even that is optimistic. I probably spent them on those syrupy chocolate bars they used to have lol. I'm a bit shocked by the amounts being talked about. I don't think that was normal in my neck of the woods. As a kid I used to have the group in my house and my job was to count the box. There was one elder who used to put in a fiver every week and he was the main contributor by a wide margin. -

There IS no John Redwood reporting. Are you getting it? YET?
Yes I get it, its a pseudonym. No doubt he is worried about getting disfellowshipped. He wrote the entire post that Barbara put up in her OP and he states that he will be covering the developments each day.

If John Redwood wants to report on the case every day surely that is a good thing. Better than not. I don't see where shes not been transparent.
