As a JW Were You or Someone you Knew Falsely Accused by Elders ?
by flipper inthought i'd put this out there to see if you knew of people in the jehovah's witnesses who were falsely accused or mistreated by the " police " or elders in the congregation.
many times it's been by experiencing injustices that get us to get shaken out of our cult thinking mode and reality kicks in and the scales fall from our eyes that the wt society is just a man made organization whose leaders are no better than us - actually in many cases more unscrupulous and conniving than any of us would have ever been to each other !
i was falsely accused 2 times .

JW's and deciding which PAGAN traditions to follow or not to follow. Merry Christmas all!!
by goingthruthemotions in* first i would like to say.....i apologize to my son's everyday for getting them involved in this cult because i took so much from them as far as celebrating holidays go.
they are now 22 and 17 great kids.
they want nothing to do with the cult.

JWs seem to keep enough trivial stuff around so they can claim to be normal when necessary.
And if they are supposed to be no part of the world why do they try so hard to look like worldly corporations and politicians? And now we are seeing even those folks wearing beards and dressing more casually will JWs follow suit? Pun intended.

Are You Satisfied To Let The Government Take Care of You?
by minimus insome people want limited government involvement in their lives.
the less government, the happier they are.
others feel there’s not enough government intervention.

Problem is it sounds good on paper.
What I'd like to know is why the government thinks it is a good idea

Adultery, Divorce, Remarry
by azl0058 inmy brother (who is a witness) has been married for 8 years.
he and his wife (also a witness) got married young, but he never really tried in the marriage, but she also lost his trust early on.
he says that it was his fault though because he pushed her away.. anyways, he met this new girl (not a witness) and told his wife that he wanted to separate.

First thanks for illustrating the folly of claiming to speak for God. But why are you asking here?
I believe the literature says if someone commits adultery to get out of a marriage they should remain disfellowshipped for a very long time. My opinion is that they if they do get reinstated, they should not have any privileges for a much longer time if ever.
But of course it is all baloney so he should just figure out what the right thing is to do and do that.

Can I take it or does have any non-approved blood fractions that were removed from the blood in a centrifuge before it was poured out on the ground?
JWs don't put the past and the future together. They've been conditioned to think of the past as old light and move on to the next thing.

Time, times and half a time - nerd time
by Anony Mous inso, the famous 607 calculation to 1914 involves the above prophecy.
the common explanation is that time is one unit, times is an unsubstantiated number of units.. to prove you can make it say any date, we must write it as a formula:.
date = t + nt + 0.5t where n >= 2. so simplified:.

I gave a talk once where I pointed out, based on my research in the literature, how nonsensical Nostradamus' predictions were. Nothing like the time, times half a time, a day for a year timeline from the bible.

Dumb Elders
by minimus ini knew a few pretty intelligent elders .
sometimes i would wonder why they remained as elders or even witnesses because they were successful men who made a good living and were highly respected because of their qualities.. that is a rather small group.
most elders that i know of aren’t the brightest bulbs in the sky.
-
mynameislame
I'm going to say not to my recollection.
The intelligence level seemed to be commensurate with the area they were in. Low income areas had less educated elders than the elders from educated areas.
I do wonder about one elder that i knew that was literally a rocket scientist. I suspect he just liked the culture but didn't necessarily believe it. And he seemed like the type that could entertain himself during the meetings while still looking like he was paying attention. In reality if you are married how hard is it to stay out of trouble as a JW.

Do Jehovah`s Witnesses believe the 1,000 reign of Christ Jesus began in 1914 ?
by smiddy3 inif not ,why do they claim he took up his power to reign as king in 1914 ?
do they claim that ?
or is it that he has only returned awaiting for god to give the throne to him.?.
-
mynameislame
AFAIK the 1k reign is the 1k yrs after the big A
Why the big gap in years
Well because that's what happens when you try to predict the future

Jehovah`s witnesses not the only religion GOD is using now ?
by smiddy3 inwhen confronted with angus stewart’s blunt question “do you see yourselves as jehovah god’s spokespeople on earth?” the answer that came from jackson’s lips was astounding.. “that i think would seem to be quite presumptuous to say that we are the only spokesperson that god is using.
the scriptures clearly show that someone can act in harmony with god’s spirit in giving comfort and help in the congregations, but if i could just clarify a little, going back to matthew 24, clearly, jesus said that in the last days ‐ and jehovah’s witnesses believe these are the last days ‐ there would be a slave, a group of persons who would have responsibility to care for the spiritual food.
so inthat respect, we view ourselves as trying to fulfill that role.”.

It seems to me that he is saying yes in a round about way.
He ends by saying "we view ourselves as trying to fulfill that role."
I see it more of a "I know it must sound crazy but...."

We Knew Many JWs That Weren’t Right....what about xjws??
by minimus indo you think that when people leave the religion that they are basically now, “normal”?
or do you think it’s more a work in progress?.
-
mynameislame
What makes it hard to say is that most people don't become JWs because life is great. So how many of them were normal when they joined or had normal parents if they were born in.
