"it's the truth, it's the truth, it's the truth" Said to me by an elder and my re-instatement hearing.
It was weird because I really couldn't tell who he was trying to convince me or himself.
i was about 8-10 years old and twice i had people tell me that i should not pioneer but to go to bethel because i "was governing body material".. one was a co and another a do.. i didn't even believe in god, never have so that makes it weird!.
what wierd things were told?.

i am - every hour or so - but last night i slept for 5 hours uninterrupted, and this despite 4 cups of coffee late afternoon.
still can't account for what was for me tantamount to a full-night's sleep .... .
do you sleep well most nights?.
I fall asleep with no problem but wake up at between 3 and 4 am regularly. I think it is a blood sugar thing. If I get up for a bit and have some tea or just move around for a while I can usually fall back asleep in an hour or so. I think I suffer from Somali effect or Dawn Phenomenon. Although I don't take insulin I have always felt like I have blood sugar issues in the morning even more so when I sleep for a full 8 hours. If I get 8+ hours of sleep I feel depressed all day. Dr. Wayne W. Dyer says that 3am is a very spiritual time to wake up and you should take that time to discover your spiritual side. (it just makes me tired and grouchy :-) Maybe that is why we all figured out how to leave the Jdubs....
i work at a very recognizable company (hint they are the father (mother?
) of the tla).
as one of the rank and file at that company i can say even my direct manager has no clue what my job is like on a day to day basis.
I work at a very recognizable company (Hint they are the father (mother?) of the TLA). As one of the Rank and File at that company I can say even my direct manager has no clue what my job is like on a day to day basis. Forget about the next manager up the chain they are utterly clueless to what is really going on around them. The things that come out of their mouths amaze me.
I can't imagine how that happens but it obviously does. You will never convince me that the same thing isn't going on inside the Borg. The minute you become a servant you forget where you came from and the same thing goes for the next step when moving to elder-hood. I had a good friend that was a servant who became an elder and the instant he became an elder he went from being encouraging to being judgmental.
There must be some sort of psychological study on it, if not there should be, maybe that will be my claim to fame.
i have a lifelong buddy (g) who is now df'd ....doing great and happy.
he has a nice boat.
a while back he gets a call from a very well known elder who, of course, shuns him.. elder: "hi g. i know this is a little strange, but i don't know who else to call".
A true example of turning the other cheek. Not much of a believer but still think that advice is good advice. He should pat himself on the back for doing the right thing.
Don't forget the Elders are under the same spell as the rank and file JWs
I can understand wanting to get the people you care about out but honestly most of the JWs I knew deserved to be there.
How do you know that being a JW isn't God's punishment for something?
Maybe the Hindus are right and the children of JWs are bing punished for sins in their previous life.
ok, am i correct in saying that the fds never stated armegedon was coming in 75'?
however, they led everyone to believe it was coming in 75'?.
if the latter question is true, can you provide links to talks or articles that point to this?
http://www.jwfacts.com/watchtower/1975.php
And search google for jehovah and 1975 that should keep you quite busy.
i don't and am very unlikely to after seeing my father dying of a smoking related lung disease (even though i would like to try a high quality cigar).. but i am curious to see how many people take up smoking after leaving the org.. .
I started smoking when I drank with friends worked up to a pack a week for about a year. Now I'm back to very occasionally when I'm out with friends that smoke.
hello.. here is some thought provoking debate that may help people investigate the true nature of the watch tower society.. this surely should be something that everyone who belongs to the society and any one who plans to convert should do.. i did this myself, after getting involved with a girl who was a fanatical jw and by doing so, i believe that i discovered the true nature of the wt.. but please, do not take my word for it, please do your own research and reading.. this is really important as by signing up or getting baptised as a jw, you are basically surendering your own personal rights to an unknown authority who proclaims to speak for god.
and by doing so you will suffer major negative socio-economic implications on a daily basis due to the restrictions and demands enforced by those involved and in control of the ws.. personally, learning how the watch tower society got started was enough to convince me that the watch tower society is not what it proclaims to be.
my suspicions were compounded after learning more about nathan knors (past president of the watch tower society) involvement with the nazi's in the second world war.. for those out there who do not know how the watch tower society got started, i recommend that you research the main man behind it joseph franklin rutherford, as it was not as many jw's believe, charles taze russel who started the society but russel's lawyer joseph franklin rutherford, a man whom in my opinion was of questionable character, who underhandedly seized power over russel's followers after russel's death.. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/watch_tower_society_presidency_dispute_(1917).
Well it isn't a Pyramid Scheme. But it seems a bit like you are preaching to the choir
i've only very recently discovered this site and have been reading many compelling personal accounts and testimonials.
i'd like to share my own as well.. i was born into 'the truth' in the early 1970s.
along with my several (fleshly) brothers and sisters, i went through the usual travails of a witness boy - not celebrating birthdays, not pledging allegiance to the flag, not singing christmas carols in the class chorus.
Cheers and welcome.
it happens without warning.
you have a stroke.
you get ms. you are in a car accident.. they put you in the hospital.
This post reminded me of the one person I respect as a JW. He truly dedicated his live to living by the principles he believed in.
Every person in our territory knew who he was because he was out there every day going door to door.
And when he got old, senile and was acting a bit crazy I remember one of the elders showing no sympathy for him and even made some derisive comment to the tune of since he didn't have an actual medical condition there was no excuse for his behavior.
Interestingly searching or his name on google I found this link:
