my dad and i would work on different "pioneers" vehicles in our kingdumb hell.
and to nuts and bolts they where real "hoopties" anytime ready for the crusher.
both my dad and i would work with our skills to keep their cars running since they don't have a real job to get a real working car.
That's true overrated. Most or all of the people I helped out were appreciative and I wouldn't feel bad helping them out even now. I remember getting called arrogant because I said I could use my car in field service but I needed gas money because I was broke. The best part is the man that said it never offered to use his car.
social isolation.
unloving shunning..
I got lucky when I was a JW, there were loads of young people in my hall so that I could pick and choose who to be friends with, and my dad was an elder so I was automatically on the nice list.
I can't imagine how it would be for someone with limit choices.
Someone once said, (it might have even been on this site), the best way to get the JWs to stop contacting you is to get baptized then become discouraged or depressed.
i know what you’re gonna say---------everyone has a right to believe whatever they want.. but the question above is not about everyone’s right to believe whatever.. the question is very specific------will the world be a better place----without religion.
think for a while what the world would be like without any religion.. no conflicts between islam and christianity.. no conflicts between different sects of christianity.
(example; jehovah’s witnesses vs catholics).
Hard to say, we would likely have advanced technologically at a faster pace but that might just mean we destroyed the earth because of it. For all we know the dark ages bought us a couple thousand years of existence.
There would still be be crappy people so if it wasn't religion they would have found another way to control the masses.
Not trying to turn this political but there are people out there still waiting for Trump to rise again, and not by winning the next election. So it seems people need someone to follow as their savior religious or not.
i was just reading how a guy on the net was saying he was attracted to some black women like halle berry but serena or gayle king not at all.
he was expressing his opinion.
anyway, he quickly got fired and he profusely apologized for what he said and has asked for help from the naacp and the mayor’s office to learn to do better.
Yea pretty much keep your mouth shut on anything controversial when in earshot of anyone you don't know intimately.
On that note, I'd have no problem with any of the women from Girlfriends but the ladies of Living Single not so much. Although Queen Latifa seems pretty cool (I miss UPN)

I don't know, I don't regret any of the things I did as JW to help out other needy JWs. Admittedly these days I'm rather skeptical of most charities.
since covid, our lives have all been affected.
do you think people will ever get back to normal, pre-covid?
are masks, vaccinations and social distancing the “new normal “?.
I read a newspaper article years ago with the headline "The act of vandalism that saved my life". (Yes an actual newspaper. That's how long ago it was)
Turns out the guy threw out his television set and was never happier.
And this was long before there were only two opinions (yours and the right one)
(not sure what I was replying too here)
i remember that jehovah's witnesses used to have a 2-hour, 2-part mid-week meeting which included a 1-hour "ministry school" followed by a 1-hour "service meeting".
please correct me if i am wrong in any respect but to the best of my memory the ministry school was composed of 4 parts, as follows:.
part 1: an "instruction talk".
At one time there was an actual attempt to train speakers
I wish I had known at the time that was an opportunity. That is actually something you could use in the real world.
And I think the Go bag is the replacement for the bookstudy. If I remember correctly the idea behind having the smaller meetings at various locations was so you would have a place to meet when the persecution started.
well i did it.. i attended the zoom memorial ( in respect for my mum).
it was very strange to say the least.
everyone had bread and wine at their houses.
I thought it was tonight? Or are you in one of those future time zones where it is already tomorrow?
I also liked the idea of having instant friends anyplace I went. Looking back I also liked the diversity. I had friends of every race and several levels of income. I even had non-practicing gay friends.
But there's stuff I don't miss too. Having to pick friends based on how well they towed the company line instead of what kind of person they were. I realize now that many of the people I considered close friends were in fact toxic. I probably was too because that is what being a good JW requires. Not having any true friends, because you know, even if it is just in the back of your mind, that you may have to disown them without so much as a goodbye. Every DF\DA announcement reinforces that. Knowing that having legitimate doubts or questions is enough to instantly end a friendship even if you have everything else in common.
Hang in there, you'll slowly realize that the people you considered your spiritual family were more than a few clicks away from healthy.
i will stick with great value.
if some kid has gender dysphoria its not normal its a defect.
