  know that evolution thread?

  it's buried now somewhere around page 8 or 9 and still getting posts.

  Francios, I've just read your post on page 8. It's a good question. Seems the obvious way out for Christians to me. However, I'm now really curious about you. I admire almost all of what you write. You seem very with it. What I don't get is how you have come out of this whole thing with a belief in God. How have you managed that? When I stopped believing in dubdom in 1977 I stopped believing in God. I wasn't trying to be clever or intellectual - I just couldn't see it any other way. So what is your secret to believing in God?

  F, it's 10.45 now in Melbourne and I'm about to walk down the street to buy a muffin (Beck's probably chowing down on morining tea already!). When I get back I'll go looking for the evolution thread - as I missed it. I was watching something on cable last nite about evolution and my jw dad phoned in the middle of it. Dad came back with, but how could the eye have evoloved? I told him it was the same way that bacteria evolve to outwit antibiotics. Not much of an answer I eh? I look forward to reading the thread.

  Annalice, I think I'd be having anger issues with your husband! Why is he subjecting himself to a weekend of mindless drivel? When he told you you have anger issues I would have asked him if he was prepared to investigate why you have them? God knows you have plenty of reasons for them. So what is wrong with him for creating more issues to make your blood boil!!!

  Marilyn ps Give hubby a chore for the weekend - ask him to count how many times they are told to be loyal to the Organisation.

  actually thats not what its about.. i felt like saying....nowhere because its all garbage but for people who want to believe in something that would not do.

  I believe that a large part of the problem is that JWs are institutionalised. People who have been in jail for many years also feel vulnerable and helpless when they are set free. It takes time to adjust to freedom. There are many types of insitutionalised behavior but JWs are classics. They have forgotten how to live on their own. It's sad. They don't have a clue that they fit this catagory, but it doesn't take too long to see it when it's pointed out.

  Yes it does bother me if I offend them. It bothers me that it bothers me, because it doesn't bother them that they offend me and I wish I could be like them in that regard.

  It's interesting that more sexual diseases are spread when the foreskin remains. Us gals would like to think our guys are keeping their dongers squeaky clean - but apparently 'hovah knows that guys are prone to slacking in the hygiene department. Must be a side effect of testosterone. There is recent evidence that aids is transmitted more readily by uncircumcised men, along with genital warts and the whole gamut of goodies that come with unpretected sex.

  Marilyn PS I thought 'hovah specifically liked the smell of burning fat - is this the same God who doesn't approve of blood transfusions?

  i may be alone here, but are you more interested in jw docrines, change of docrines, watchtowers, km's and othe jw publications now that you are an ex member as opposed to when you were a witness?.

  i realised this the other day, when i was cleaning out a wardrobe and there was a "knowledge" book, i got so excited and read the whole thing, looking up scriptures as i went when they were quoted.

  (this was accompanied by a soundtrack of consistant scoffs, snorts and "what the hells".?").

  There is a Knowledge book in my drawer but I've never been tempted to read it. But yes i do spend more time reading exjw stuff than I ever did reading dub stuff when I was in. I can't read their stuff now - it's mindless, manipulative drivel. Maybe that's why I never read it much when I was in.

  Good point though. I think I'm just a good exjw because I'm angry at being disfed for doing nothing!

  I was pondering...again.....

  i have another question re a bible topic.

  i know some of you don't believe what it says, but just to get your opinion would be helpful.. ok, so in genisis.....the angels see the beautiful women of earth and get hot under the collar and proceed to come down and have sexual relations with these women.. now, some time before this happened, two silly individuals in their naivity, listen to a dumbarse snake and to tell you the truth if i was a new human and a snake spoke to me, i'd take pretty much what he says as gospel....cos that just doesn't happen.....or i'd be having a psychotic episode.

  so they go and disobey god and what do they get for punishment....kicked out of home and left to fend for themselves without food, shelter, health, happiness or they father's love...all for disobeying him over a silly apple (i know this is to do with the 'sovereignty' issue, why he needs to prove himself i'll never know).

  Hi Vi, Basically you seem to be seeing the whole stupid silliness for what it is. One thing - Adam and Eve were newbies right? No life experiences to call upon, no books or teachers or friends to give them advice - they were completely new human beings and very naive. They are hardly going to be surprised that a snake speaks to them. What do they know of the world? But also how can brand new people be expected to make good decisions when they know so little about anything? And what kind of amazing, all powerful God, puts his much loved creation in such a position? And then punishes all of mankind for the rest of time (until he feels ready to step in) because they fail his silly little test? This whole thing of soverenty is demented. Unless God is an escaped lunatic or meglamanic!!! Now that might make sense of it...............

  Does being called an 'apostate' upset you?

  do all of you ex-jehovah's witnesses get upset when you are called an apostate?

  you all call each other apostates, so why should you all get upset if i call you apostates?

  if you don't like being called 'apostate', what title would you prefer?

  I don't mind, especially as I am apostate - I turned away from God. However I don't like the way JWs use labels for people. They don't just shun people they've slapped a label on, they actually hate them. Previously much loved family members are treated with fear and loathing, just because they don't believe in an Organisation any more. I've been disfellowshipped for apostasy for over 20 yrs and now I'm getting older - soon to turn 50, I am just so saddened that I will never be accepted or welcomed at a family gathering. I think I miss my loved ones more now than I ever did - but sadly I cannot convince myself that God exists, just so my family will accept me.
