  What's your dirtiest habit??

  i don't have any but i am going to tell on my lady boss, who is a 26 yr old lawyer of the hoity toity breed who was incidently born with golden slippers.

  this morning as i walked into the ladies room we passed each other as she was on her way out.

  we smiled and said hi, then next thing i see her pass her hand under a drip from the tap...and then hastily wipe her hand on the towel before rushing out.

  have you heard the song "stuck in a moment you cant get out of" by u2 ?

  i was listening to this today and it got me thinking........... i have decided that i will no longer be contributing to this forum.... at least for the meantime.

  this forum has helped me in every way that i need to be helped, and for that i thank everyone who played a part in this.. i guess i have achieved my goal now.

  IBD - I hear ya! I hopped into the exjw internet discussion forums about 6 yrs ago. I've been "out" for over 20 yrs. I think there will always be a need in us to visit places like this - even if it's just periodic. BUT they are of limited help, I know. They just help a little. I steer my way around all the crazy, mean, negative stuff and with sparodic attendence I get the comfort I need. I'm dealing with a dying jw mother who is sweet and appreciative of my help. BUT the dub siblings are uncomfortable in my presence - even though I'm tolerated for the much needed help I can bring to my parents. The whole thing is weird beyond description. I just cleaned out my mothers personal cupboard and she's saved birthday cards and newspaper cuttings and mementos from before our family became dubs (over 30 yrs ago). It just breaks my heart to think what might have been. The WTS has destroyed my loved ones and turned them into robots for an evil cause. I want to shake them and slap them and knock some sense into them. Part of me thinks all I need to do is tell them they are in a high control cult and they will see it for themselves.............. but reality sets in and I say nothing. What's worse is that my siblings truly dislike me - and they don't even know me. The WTS is thorough, if nothing else.

  This is why you are sorry to be leaving here. Because there are many like me, who have enormous pain and sorry over this futile religion. Have a rest, but come back when you feel the frustration building. I don't need places like this all the time, but I'm always grateful they are here for me. I would never leave for good. But maybe when my parents are gone and I no longer have any contact with my family, I will heal. Although I doubt it.

  DISPROVE THE FAITHFUL AND DISCREET SLAVE

  one of the most ingrained things for long time witnesses to change their viewpoint on is the fds.

  i believe that due to the constant information at the meetings, conventions, publications and elder's talks, the doctrine of the faithful slave is pounded into everyone's heads.once a person sees the misunderstanding of this teaching, it's easier to critically see the wrongness of the watchtower.

  can you suggest easier, less complicated rebuttals to this doctrine?

  paragraph 5. Maybe this proof is just a tad too obvious. When I read it yesterday, I wondered whether the wt should have a brother specifically employed (I use that term in a physical sense) to cut out the really obvious manipulative material. There must be a limit to how far you can go with giving yourself the wrap. Yet I know that recent km article about disfellowshipping was largely a serious of quotes from old wts, which I thought might alarm anyone inclined towards critical thinking. I realise I'm foolish to think like this, coz I know the saying "you can fool some of the people some of the time"......................

  Francois, if you are going to go down that path, I prefer the scripture which tells us that God likes the smell of burnt fat, and also to keep couple of dead pigeons or was it doves, outside the front door to get rid of a mould problem. And this is the same God who says don't eat blood???? Right. I don't know about you but I'd let my child die, from such a God.

  DA letter supplementary - will this finally do it?

  i da'd back in february and have been receiving fortnightly attempts to visit me ever since - two weeks ago i received a note through my door with a copy of a letter stating the "truth" from the bethel ... i can't leave it at that, so this is what i mailed today ... i hope i haven't made any big mistakes in it - my thanks to www.randytv.com for helping me with the sources i used

  I have no doubt that Jan is a wonderful person. However I do not wish to receive her emails and I find it annoying that she sends them to me. I thought you had to apply to be sent information - no one should automatically assume that what interests you, interests everyone.

  I'll add: being disfellowshipped and shunned for leaving quietly. Marking people who won't shun their close relatives. The door to door work. Predicting dates for Armeggedon. Not being allowed to use chicken stock cubes in cooking. obsessive concern about aluminium pots. belting kids for not sitting quiet in meetings. Anyone else?
