in 1976 when i was a young lad of 6, fred franz came to glasgow and gave a talk in govan a suburb on the south side of the city (for those of you who dont know).
our congregation hired a bus to ferry us all to the hall and it was standing room only.
being only 6, i have only the vaguest of memories other than an old man shouting and bawling from the stage.
I worked for a while at the Netherlands branch and we had Schroeder for a zone-visit. His wife who likes to speak Spanish had a long conversation with my than wife.
He had a problem I think. In his meeting with us he kept talking and talking about his visit to Thailand and how grateful they were and how they grabbed his hand with two hands etc. The sad thing is we went into missionary-service because of his direct recommendation to the branch-committee that week.
for many years since the witness organization, after i have told people that i'm no longer a jehovah's witness, people would say "oh the religion were people are not allowed to drink!".
"no they drink alright.....they can't do much of anything else but they do drink!".
in fact the first place i ever got drunk was bethel.
You shouldnât get drunk, thatâs all.

Well this continent has lived thousands of years this way. And we like it that way. We donât like hamburgers, hotdogs eaten on the street, bad pizzas and donkeypi** Budweiser.

I have to tell you that by our European standards I donât think at neither Bethels I served nor missionary-homes drinking was that of a big thing. At most of the misshomes I lived (with germans and danish) at noon we had a bottle of wine at the noon-table. Most of the time I had a âaperitiefâ before that at one of the return-visits. And at night a couple of wines. So I canât agree with the opinions to be frankly.
so i am trying to understand if i am the only pomo that experiences the situation where the pimi spouse comes back from a meeting a different personanlity.
it may not be obivious to the untrained eye, but i notice it and i know my sons notice it.
this last round after all the loyalty bs and armagedon bs it's like she has stayed stuck in it.
I have read that the same happens to people whose partners are Rosicrucian . The return from their gettogethers as different persons. Demons??
i received a call from a friend in new york city that don adams passed away late last evening (30 dec 2019).
many of you bethelites know him and he was the president of the society for a number of years after the gb got out of the corporate structure business.
from what i understand, he was generally liked by many there.. some in my family knew him.
If I may ask. When did you do your Patterson time?

The few times I met him at Patterson, he seemed to be a very soft and kind person, R.I.P.
my very much in wife commented with no prompting that they have a hierarchy in prayers.
bless the gb, co, elders, pioneers.
if the ill or shutins are mentioned that is all, not so much as a phone call let alone a visit.
Take her to a psychologist ASAP .
yesterday i noticed on four trolleys i passed (and had a long useful conversation at one but more on that later) they had added a label identifying themselves as jehovah's witnesses.
it was just a simple printed piece of white card stuck on next the logo.. is this a new requirement?
was it a directive from hq or i wonder if the local council require it..
I have seen it while being in a bank. Weird.
