I would advice you to hand over your letter of resignation. Or send it to them by mail. I did so in 2001 when my wife was visiting family far away. It felt very good, I felt free . Your wife will get over it.

Good memories of full-time service?
by fulano inperhaps not a topic for everybody... mine.. in both sp service in a foreign field in europe , the freedom and helping people to read and write in spanish .
doing a lot of work in the congregations.. in missionary-service.. helping congregations in a third-world country and see good results in family relations.
and the siestas from 13:00 to 15:00..... who has good memories of bethel?

I understand your situation when you are saying you were forced to go out in field service. I graduated from high school in June 1976. My parents didn’t give me a brake. I had to do aux.p. , I think it was 75 hours a month. 16 Years old ...a hot summer and nobody to go with me. Parents? They may burn in hell...

What happens to Bethelites?
by rickroll inso if someone puts their life into serving the cult for free at bethel, then say after 25 or 30 years they are not able to for one reason or another such as illness, or family issue or old age, does the cult have any safety net for these people or is it you serve until you can't and when you can't you just go away?

I dont know the current rules of course, as my main concerns are not jw related after 20 years. But I remember that our missionary guide, which one had to sign annually, stated that a missionary could consider his home as permanent after 15 years of service. As our bethel service always had been temporary others might fill me in on this. Co’s and SP’s are disposable stuff, that is what I remember.

elders wont pray for someone?

After a committee Made the decision to disfellowship someone and told it to the person during the meeting, they just split up and leave. No prayer. I always found it a very odd moment.

How Long Did It Take To Finally Leave The Organization Once You Realized It Was Really Not The Truth?
by minimus init actually took me a few years to finally leave the organization so i was mentally out for a while before i simply stopped all meetings altogether.. how long did it take you to finally make the break?

We divorced in 2004. At that time she attended the meetings and was active. Since that moment I have never seen her again..So I dont know.

We are in Crete right now, in an appartement looking at the island Dia. I was thinking of Paul citing Epemenides in Titus 1:12 :” Cretens are liars, evil brutes, lazy gluttons”. In fact most men are fat but kind, always offering you an ouzo or raki. Great climate here and good food and wine. Now my last cigar and raki and tomorrow flying back.
