Why do you on the one hand claim not to be prophets but on the other claim to represent the will and word of God himself?

they also didnot accept the idea of angels, demons, and miraculous healings among other things.

lo and behold, i find a cd from 1994: elastica's cd (uk).. man, i don't know what the hell they're up to, but man i loved this chick-lead band.. of course, their hit: connection .
....still makes my nipples hard when i hear it.

I absolutely loved Elastica's first album too. What a shame they fizzled away into the file named "where are they now?" . Thanks to Trigger Happy TV I guess Connection has become an internationally recognised track, but I guess few people know who the theme music's by.

Thank you for breaking my duck on this one Spicey - I wrote this well over a year ago and got no replies!
My argument was always the fact that Jehovah supposedly cannot, and does not have the ability to lie in any way, but created creatures with at least the potential to lie, so it must have been a potential concept even when he created a "perfect" world.
It just doesn't make any sense to me in the same way that Satan supposedly cannot read your mind but can see your expressions on your face and stuff. At the same time he can still send his demons to invade your body if he deems fit. It's just all so nonsensical to me now.

Most Popular Belief? Well, I personally think they manage to sell the uniqueness of their product particularly well. Generations of Witnesses like to believe that they are the happiest, most successful, most blessed people on planet Earth and that the Witness teachings, Bible chronology & interpretation of scripture right through to their style of ministry is particularly distinctive and unique from all the other thousands of religions in this world.

I remember some Twickenham (London) assemblies where the sound was so poor you couldn't really hear anything at all unless you were in certain parts of certain stands, and yet you still had to respectfully sit down during the sessions. The sound department used to go in panic mode and you would find brothers rushing around franticly moving speakers around and rewiring them. Then you'd hear massive feedback and then clipping, and then silence! I remember poor old Peter Ellis droning on for hours, and not one bloody person anywhere could hear him in the whole stadium. On reflection I guess it was just as well!
…Then they thought it was a good idea to put the French and the Spanish brothers in the same stadium, but use supposedly special "directional" speakers so that each language group would hear the sessions adequately in their own language. What really happened is that depending on how close you were to the other language group, you would actually hear all three at the same time, and the different language groups would clap at different times, interrupting the other speakers!
Needless to say the French and Spanish Assemblies are now generally at Bowes Road or Edgware circuit halls.

Goodbye London Arena!

Next Sunday, on the 15th June 2003, the last day of the Witness convention there will be the very last event at the London Arena ever. What a strange old swan song!
The London Arena's fate was sealed when the Government decided to hand the Millennium Dome to a consortium that was also joint owner and operator of the Arena. The consortium wants to relocate the Arena's activities to the new redeveloped Dome. The restored Millennium Dome is expected to reopen by about the end of 2005 – this will leave poor old London without a major venue for more than two years. -
