38Englishman's absence
by Englishman inmike sends his regards and apoligies for his absence for a few days.
he is in hospital having a few tests done and doesn't have access to computer facilities at the moment.. his 'ticker' is misbehaving - i think it must be short of beer!
everything else about him is working perfectly normal - so he has all the nurses running around and is thoroughly enjoying all the attention!

Liberal Equals Ex-JW

what do you think of my following theories?
in the 70s, many converts to jw-dom were influenced by the anti-establishment philosophy and anti-viet nam war.

One thing that I find annoying and frankly confusing is the American meaning of the word "liberal" differs from the use of the word "liberal" in the rest of the world. In fact if you look at any good English dictionary you'll find that "liberal" is generally defined as, (1) Not limited to or by established, traditional, orthodox, or authoritarian attitudes, views, or dogmas; free from bigotry. (2) Favoring proposals for reform, open to new ideas for progress, and tolerant of the ideas and behavior of others; broad-minded. It doesn?t say anything about high or low taxation, or gay marriage, or asylum seekers. It doesn?t say anything about the right to keep and bear arms. It doesn?t mention the rights or wrongs of abortion. There?s no mention of militant feminism there - at least not in my dictionary. In fact nor does it say whether you vote Democratic or Labour or Republican or Conservative or Green or if you don?t vote at all.

It's possible that the JWs may have had some influence on Morrissey and his lyrics. For a while he was good friends with Viv Nicholson (of Spend, Spend, Spend fame), who is a JW. I even remember a clip from a South Bank Show Special about the Smiths where she was talking about her faith to the band.

Crossing-over with John Edwards
by Waygooder64 ini`m not sure if any on this board has seen the show " crossing-over with john edwards" but for some strange reason the show fascinates me.
if you have not seen the show its basically a guy who does readings for people in a studio audience who have had loved ones die, 'crossing-over' to the next realm.
he then connects with these dead people offering up clues to their passing and only personal things that close family would know about .

Definitely having to go on the door to door work. I absolutely hated doing it, but I knew I had to, as I was commanded to do so. I didn't want to be "bloodguilty" in front of Jehovah and then die at Aramgeddon.

he was a huge patriot and apparently had no love whatsoever for jw's.
apparently as the story goes, john gets up to sing a patriotic song and before he begins tells the audience "if there are any jehovah witnesses in the audience, you may want to leave right now.

this lady was one of jehovah's witnesses: "acceptance by them is conditional upon you remaining a jehovah's witness.
i don't have any friends who are witnesses now because i left.".
