Chaz spends a lot of time going into Temples & Mosques and stuff these days. When he's king he will be the leader of the Church of England - but clearly he is not happy with this title. He has previously said that he wants to be a "defender of all faiths". How genuine is he? Is he just fearful of how divisive religion is, rather than celebrating the diversity of religion?

Norwegians: Stick With What You Are Good At.
by Englishman inim totally bewildered that norm, kent and jan appear to have distanced themselves from this site, particularly in view of the many excellent articles that have been written by this trio.. this was norms latest post on kents discussion forum, it sat on site for almost a day before anyone responded:.
the us whore .
these days bush is visited in texas by one of the worlds most oppressive and despotic rulers in history, the saudi-arabian ruler.

One thing the Norwegians are definitely good at - they make the best internet browser in the world - OPERA!
Sorry about the plug, but I just had to.

LOL!
So true Bendrr.I'm looking forward to wandering around the concourse during lunch break, round and round in circles, trying to find all my friends – but never finding any of them. There are 25,000 people there but you keep bumping into the same people all the time. And it’s always those nutty brothers you end up talking to - the ones that spit while they talk and have bad hygiene – the ones you normally want to avoid!

Why do Jehovah's Witnesses lie to recruits?
by jerome infirst let me say this.. i have constantly been hearing of the legendary honesty/intergity of the jehovah's witness for some time now.
i have also been informed that they are the happiest people on the entire earth.. my problem is this:.
when a jehovah's witness comes to your door and you actually decide to give them a few moments of your time they never give the whole story as to what you would be getting involved with when you join the watchtower.. case in point.

Nita that is just so true. Its a bit like the 'Emperor’s new clothes' story. If you don't understand then you can't be spiritual enough!

Spot on r51785. Thats the one thing that worries me greatly. I am so conditioned into thinking this that I worry that I might upset people. But I'm sure if I come across patronising in any of my posts I will rightly be flamed to death!

Political Compass Test
by Spartacus inthis is a neat little test, there aren't any wrong answers, only what you think, after answering the questionaire it tells you approximately where you stand on political and economic policy.
(numbers below 0 are to the left, numbers above 0 are to the right).

Economic Left/Right -6.25
Authoritarian/Libertarian -6.15That was brilliant Sparky, thank you for the link!
I can't wait to test it on my family. JWs pretend to be neutral, although when you talk to them you often hear very political views. As you can see, it's no wonder I don't fit in!

David Algar is one of the nicest, most loving brothers I have ever met in my life. I think this rumour needs to be 100% confirmed please.

gsx1138, this is such an interesting point - because I don't think this generation of JW women are putting up with the crap that their mothers put up with. I don't think the men have changed, but the women have. Many JW men are autocratic and abusive, but fortunately JW women have the means to get out now, when they didn't before. I think the JW view of headship is garbage - I always have done.

What do you fear most?
by sleepy inwhat do you fear most?.
when a witness i was afraid of dying at the big a. now i just fear dying.
-
Matty
How true out4good3, that's a bit like the Woody Allen quote "It's not that I'm afraid to die, I just don't want to be there when it happens."
I think my realisation that this life indeed is all there is, well that's scary to me. I don't have much religious faith anymore, and the secular world is fightening.
I'm one of those "throwing the baby out with the bathwater" types that was spoken about on another thread somewhere!

I think it is the "righteous indignation", that turns them nasty. I've called it an "elder's hat" in another thread. A lot of JWs are like Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde, lovely normally, then they realise that a point of principle has to be exercised and there is a visible change in their character. There is a lot of fear involved too.
Don't expect me to explain it because I don't understand it.
You say "Are they ever wrong and are we ex's ever right????" Well, "they" i.e. your brothers, have the spirit directing them - and you don't. It gives them carte blanche to insult you. When I am given counsel by the elders I just smile and accept it, it's more than my life's worth to argue with them. They are spirit appointed, and I aint!!
Mad isn't it? Wouldn't it be wonderful if we could be so cock sure of ourselves? Or would it? I can tell you are not that kind of person, and for goodness sake stay that way!Lots of Love
