she told her mother, who told the elders.
the elders and mother immediately informed the police, despite the fact that there was only one witness - the child.. then the elders proceeded to inform families in the congregation so that they can be on their guard.

I've been taught NEVER to be alone with a child in school and always to leave the doors open.
Innocent or guilty of the abuse claims, the man was definitely in the wrong for being in the position that an accusation COULD be made.
some people in this place think that jws break up families.
they say that since jws df unrepentant baptized members and insist on jw family members restricting association with df members that jws try to break up families.

I can't understand it either. We had the "Truth" book, then we had the "Live Forever" and "United in Worship" books, and the "Knowledge" book was supposed to supercede both of them; i.e. the fast track to baptism. Are we gonna slow it down again?

The Nirvana thing has never been mentioned in the UK. I know of lots of brothers and sisters that are Kurt-obsessed! I saw Nirvana in Reading in '92, and I have been a fan ever since.

dmouse, it's a nightmare isn't it? But if you are a young man like myself, you should accept the reality of the world you are living in, and not get into situations where something like this can happen.
For instance if I am walking down a quiet street at night and I see a lone woman ahead of me, I will always cross the street to avoid making the lady nervous. You have to apply the same logic to children; don’t be insulted about it, just recognize that there is a problem in society, and it isn’t gonna change in a hurry
So, for my own protection, just as much as anyone else’s, I would not do any babysitting for anyone, or make special friends of children. It’s very sad, because I love children, but I have to accept the reality. Men have to realise that they should not get themselves into situations like this in the first place.

...However going to a regular pub with no music, or going on an organised "Line dancing" or "Barn Dancing" 'do, is okay.

The outlines at this years Circuit Program have clearly pointed out that any kind of night club or disco, even a restaurant with a small dancing area are disapproved, and any JW seen going to such places would face disciplinary action in the congregation.
Christian disco or whatever, it doesn’t matter.

What a terrible situation, how tragic for all parties involved.
I think I can read PANIC in the behaviour of the elders here. It just goes to show, these men are simply not qualified to handle such a situation.

i used to be in barry congregtion but my parents were so well known and 'in' it, we went to tons of different congregations around there.

Oddly enough I have been told more than once that because of a lifetime of being a witness, and all that entails, and due to my current circumstances, that now is not the best time to up and leave. I need a few more friends outside the org, which I'm just starting to get now. I don't need to convince anyone here on how tough it is.

Don't apologise, I was just being a prat as usual. I know exactly what you mean, my family are very well known too - in fact so am I - which makes what I do here very dangerous, because I'm still "in".
