What the Fox News Network thinks of the BBC
by Sneaky Russian inhttp://blugg.com/stuff/foxs_view_of_the_bbc_player.htm
my friends have shown me this link here in england showing the fox network pillaring the bbc in this news report.. but here the people and press are behind the bbc and call the government report a complete whitewash.
the bbc is shown in russian and i have felt they have always reported the war very well, a lot better than fox news.. i think this reporter is a little harsh, how do you feel as americans?

The difference is not unembellished truth, but more what agrees with your preconceived ideas. If you believe something, you are more inclined to want to listen to a source that agrees with your beliefs. It?s disturbing to hear any dissenting voice, you like to be reassured that your view is correct. I don?t have any particular hard and fast political stance, either left or right, but I know propaganda when I see it. After reading Watchtower propaganda most of my life, I now like to hear all sides and make my own mind up objectively. It?s difficult to do, I know, but watching nothing but Murdoch sourced news is certainly not conducive to learning what is really going on in this world.

Of course people are entitled to watch whatever they want. I guess I'm old-fashioned. I tend to like truth a lot more than what a news channel owner or a government thinks I need to know, and what is supposedly "good for me".

Since I came over here I am totally astounded by the propaganda channel called Fox News. How people can believe that the stuff they spew out as balanced journalism is totally beyond me. It's very clear that the owner of the channel has a very clear agenda, and forces it within the programming. You can't run a news channel like this, Murdoch clearly stifles any dissenting ideas from his own beliefs - it reminds me of the Watchtower Society!

What's Your Favourite Font?
by dh inmaybe some of you write, or work in publishing, design etc, are there any fonts that you choose to use because they feel better, do you change the font before you begin writing a document, or at the end?
for writing i love to use tahoma, i type pretty quick and the way the letters appear on the screen in tahoma is very much more fluid than other fonts out there, and if you're writing a lot, or creatively, i think it makes an enormous difference... was tahoma designed to be easy on the eyes?
for bold stuff i love the font rockwell, dunno why, i just like it.

Trebuchet MS is a rather nice font. It doesn?t get used very often!

Yes, I'm really nervous about it! I passed my test in the UK when I was 20, and I'm sure I've picked up lots of bad habits since then!

I already have a UK driving licence, but in order for me to get a Florida Driving License I have to go through another driving test, both written and a road test. That's gonna be in another months time. You can drive over here with a UK licence of course, but insurance is then very expensive - it's much better to drive with a state license.
I've done quite a bit of driving over here now and I'm getting used to driving a left hand drive car, so hopefully I'll do ok!
Well done on your success in your path to being mobile Brummie! -

There ARE Times When ..
by Englishman in..only a pot noodle will do.. but afterwards, i always feel so... .
thing is, we're really good about about eating healthy stuff.
black pudding, hedgehog baked in mud, steak & kidney pie..but what is it that gets the old taste buds going, then afterwards it leaves your mouth feeling like the bottom of a parrots cage?.

They don't have it over here - there are other instant noodle snacks in the US, but they aren't half as yummy.
I'm suffering from Pot Noodle withdrawal!!! -

Troublemakers
by Xena ini'm curious were any of you ever labeled troublemakers?
lol i never was....i was the shy retiring type, pretty much kept to myself.
a loner.

As a Witness, you are so fearful of confronting problems or issues face on, you just keep them to yourself for fear of being branded a troublemaker. One thing that I?ve noticed since leaving the Witnesses is that you are allowed to disagree with your friends, and you are allowed to speak up for yourself in the real world! A good friend will not abandon you, will not be ?stumbled?, will not ?mark? you if you have a difference with them and you needn?t be condemned to Gehenna if you speak your mind. Pretty basic stuff for most people, but tough for ex-Jws.

I find Alias difficult to understand. I think I should see it from the beginning. Its a well acted show, and has a very "cinematic" feel to it, if you know what I mean!
Me and Spice have just ordered the complete BlackAdder box set on DVD. We both love Rowan Atkinson, and are looking forward to seeing the shows again. My favourite series was the second one, set in the Elizabethan times...
