No, really, I'm in this club for over 20 years now and did the revelation book about half a dozen times. I can't remember that this topic was brought up just once. I mean, this heavenly kingdom is one of the most important things in history of mankind, it reigns for 98 years and we know nothing about it?
Beside the comical answers (which I appreciate very much), is there anyone who can explain seriously what I - as a good JW sheep - have to believe?

What are their duties? How is the daily schedule? Whom do their governmental acts affect?

i was raised as a jw and i haven't been to a meeting in about 8 years..
Only 22 little years. But I'm afraid there are many more to come. Yikes.
Luckily I always did just the minimum and from teenage years on what I wanted to do (e.g. College, wordly friends). Plus I found good friends an - best of all - my beloved wife. So it was not that bad.
Nevertheless it's a HUGE waste of precious lifetime and listening to the mindless drivel again and again and again and ag...will someday let my head explode.

In business world you would speak of an "output gap" (e.g. defective goods, theft, etc.). But as we speak of people, that wouldn't fit.
Maybe you could call it "number of missing publishers".
The optimal equation would be:
2011 total new publishers - (2011 average publishers - 2010 average publishers) = number of missing publishers during 2011
But as the number of new publishers is impossible to get, the number of baptized is the next best thing you could take and perfectly sufficient for your purpose.

If you add some other elements, like average death rates, you can get useful info about defection numbers.
As an "semi-pro-statician" I have to say, you got the terminology completely wrong. Of course you can name the things the way you like, but there is an established nomenclature in statistics. slimboyfat, 00DAD and sir82 said 100% correct what net increase/decrease means. Thats a fact.
Like you said, your not an statician and therefore using the wrong wording is no problem at all. But if people suggest you made a mistake, you should maybe be less defending and more open to adjust your information.

after the little skit at the last assembly where one brother was asking another for understanding about the generation teaching i thought, "wow, these people will believe anything the watchtower tells them.

Got a sheperding visit from two elders. Told them the generation thing makes no sense at all to me.
One of them stared just blankly at me. The other, our CO, repeatet the current teaching (an got it only slightly wrong). He said it makes perfect sense for him. If I couldn't believe it, there's nothing one could do about it.

Satan must be the most stupid individual in the whole universe. Beside the things already said, he actively does everything God needs him to do to fulfill the allmightys prophecys.
e.g.:

he will crush your head,
and you will strike his heel.
What does Satan Superdumb? He strikes his heel (JW explanation: kills Jesus).
If he were clever, he would have done anything to protect Jesus. He's the ruler of the world, so he had had the power to do it. Prophecy failed.
Satan 1, Jehova the Ex-Almighty 0
Thats only one of many examples in the bible. How would a JW explain that?
