while i was an active jw, i remember so often that whenever we had a question that couldn't be answered, we would hear: "just wait a little bit and you can be sure it will be brought out in an article soon.

" and sure enough, it happened just like that, time and time again.. my topic title question has been rolling around in my head ever since hearing the talks and the drama dialogue as i posted earlier on the topic "dc subtle propaganda".. the wts obviously knows many of its members are lurking here and other sites, and their lies are getting more exposure than ever before, and i feel as though the org is keeping tabs on these sites.

many here have been telling their experiences and life stories revealing many skeletons from the wts closet, openly criticizing the attitudes and harsh actions of the org.. these are just a few of the phrases hammered at repeatedly as reminders at the dc this past weekend:.

Moxy's on target. Another point is that the things we say openly here about inconsistencies and doctrinal matters are the very concerns many pubs--and traveling men--are whispering about as well. This does filter up the line. When such considerable discontent is noted, it's easy to blame it on that infernal Internet and those apostates. Always got to be an Enemy out there. The high control reaction is predictable.

While the GB or others have no need to browse around the Internet to find out what's going on, there is certain monitoring ... and telephone calls are now recorded at Bethel.

I'm waiting for somone to develop the relationship between the old Service committee, Teaching, the new Branch committee, and the like. Some significant changes ...

i was just thinking about this.

having been raised "in the truth" post-1975, i didn't grow up with any specific year in mind.

yes, there was the notion of "this generation will by no means pass away," but by the time i was old enough to think about that concept, the people who were born in 1914 (to stretch it out as far as possible, as the society ultimately did) were still only in their 60's.

Pearl Harbor in 1942, of course. Having a parent read all those horror stories of Nazi German persecution--weeping, frightened.

In those days there was not just a Watchtower reader but also someone who stood up and asked the questions (rather than the conductor). Older brothers would pat me on the head, tell me it was too bad that I would never have this service privilege, because you had to be 10 years old--and the end would come before that. That's waaaaay over half a century ago.

Ah but Jehovah held back the cataclysm to spare recalcitrant ones. "You'll never have to register for the draft." (Had to be 18.) Had an enormous fight with my draft board, evening getting classified as 1-A, although in full-time service.

Fast forward to 1966, when Fred Franz released the "Life Everlasting" book. We had gone back to date-setting yet one more time! The crowd was electrified, I cringed, talked to older men in Writing, who shrugged it off that Freddie had gone off the deep end, wanting to see it so badly, and thinking it to be a stimulus even if it were wrong. After all, Paul had thought that way.

I knew that 1975 would be an enormous problem. Older folks, wiser, took me aside and pounced on my lack of faith. Family members gasped at my disbelief, were stumbled. Watched peers in traveling work do the countdown in months and even in DAYS from the platform. (Funny, in around 1980 I would never get any of them to own up to that. "WEH-ull! I never really believed that. I was just loyal.")

This is not the place to describe the surgeries I watched postponed, the homes sold, the lives completely disrupted ...

Wonder why I become unglued when someone who brags about being "in the truth" for 20 years (!) tells me the 1975 fiasco was all made up by apostates? About like when I'm told the Society does not discourage college.

Let me make a point: A few hardliners on the governing body are wild-eyed true believers who feel the Day is going to come any minute, and that's what drives them to make sure all the hardline stuff is shoveled out at the conventions such as at this summer. In their not feeling such certaintude, the progressives have a hard time of it. Were it simply only money!

Those of you who in their Journey have come across Eric Hoffer's "The True Believer" will understand.

Can't help but comment on something very ironic. For years the two Bible dramas at conventions were written by Ulysses V. Glass and Ed Dunlap. The Korah drama was Ed's. (Someone posted he was in the bindery when this brilliant Gilead instructor and writer was banished to a machine, saying, "Well, the doctor said exercise would be good for my health." Lord, I weep for Ed, who was as decent as he was brilliant.)

Anyway, Ed's old drama was just coarsened to an in-your-face diatribe this year, coming off much like the days of the Inquisition. "Yes, these are imperfect men, but they are INFALLIBLE when they speak as the governing body." Yessireee. Not much of a distinction when you are in a back room with the Torquemada bullies.

Can anyone confirm the figure I hear that 22,000 elders resigned during the last three years? (That's twenty-two thousand.)

she did so alone until she remarried in the early 80s.

my stepfather was a dyed in the wool dub who never varied from the party line.

as some of you know, cole wrote this book under the pretence that he was only interested in writing about the jws, and didn't identify himself as a jw.

I readily admit to dropping a few gems just to keep the boys on their toes and to let them know that there are a few of us around who do know the facts ... (((Hey! You guys monitoring! How'd you like the premature release of the pedophile policy letter in Great Britain? How you gonna deal with that in the US?)))

He really is an outstanding writer. I'll try to write him. He certainly is no stooge, and you sure put it well when you described his Roswell predicament. Tell him he still has lots of friends from a kinder time, when it was okay to doubt, to kick some things around. Not today ...

Ply him with good Scotch and ask the old sweetheart how it feels to have written an excellent book on "the greatest man who ever lived," have it worked over by the boy (singular) in Writing years later, and published by the Society?

I respect his privacy too but am curious about that one.
