if we imagined for one moment that the majority of youths get baptized, then the july 1, 2006 wt paints a very different picture.

there must be a serious problem in the organization for the society to write so strong an article.

It seems to me that a person should be 30 before they get baptized. Jesus was. Since the WT is so very fond of comparing everything they do to "types" and "antitypes", then they should be consistent here also. My daughter was raped by a JW around the age of ten. She is now 21. She is in NO way prepared mentally or emotionally to make such a decision. A decision that could cost her any sanity she has left, since ten years of therapy haven't helped as much as I hoped. My wife left me years ago because I quit this slut corporation and took my child. I haven't seen her in ages. I am shunned now by both of them. If my daughter got baptized now and then five years from now decided it was a mistake, or asked too many questions, or whatever, she would be DF'd and shunned. The strain would put her in the psych ward for the rest of her life. The minimum age should be 21, even if I don't compare what Jesus did. In all truth, the best age to get baptized is NEVER. You don't get "baptized", you make a legal contract with unethical businessmen who should be executed for child abuse, tax evasion, and a host of other crimes.

I brought this point up to an elder once about Jesus being 30 years old. He had no answer. I know why. The elders are just WT stooges who have the emotional need to feel superior to others since their secular jobs/lives are usually at a high school level. I know what I'm saying, I have a degree in Psychology.

To all you JW's lurking on this site: Wake up and smell the coffee!! You are wasting your lives. The sad irony is that you are too damn ignorant to even realize that you are ignorant. A vicious cycle that you will never break until you use your brains for the FIRST time in your lives.

I just went to the "official" WT web site. Unless I'm very mistaken, they have no provisions for emailing them. There is a "Contact US" link, but all it does is to let you enter your name, address, and best time to reach you. Why no email? Are they afraid of the flood of criticism or questions that would come streaming into NYC?? It makes you wonder. I also think it reinforces what others have said about the WT only wanting to conduct their "ministry" in a one-to-one basis because they have control. I mean, how would they answer all the emails if they offered that option? This way, they send a publisher to whoever filled out the "Contact Us" link and it's still in their control. Any thoughts? Thank you.

Another reason the WTS doesn't want JWs on the net?

we all pretty well understand that the wts tells jws that bing on the internet is dangerous to their spiritual standing because people on the net are controlled by satan

but... maybe there is a second reason.we also know that the wts believes if people read the wt literature they will come to the wrong conclusions.

people require someone to sit with them and read every paragraph of a wt book to make sure they understand the book in the right way.we know the website for the wts is pretty sanitized so people don't run off too quicklywe know there is no place on the wts' website for discussion.

I think many good points have been made here regarding the internet and college (knowledge). Look what happened to "SickofLies" when he asked questions that the elders knew he had them dead to rights on. His "education" and "IQ" were attacked. If the WT is really a Bible-based organization, why can't it defend it's beliefs from JUST the Bible?? Why all the publications? And why would an elder say, "If the Watchtower says it, that's good enough for me!"??

Very sad that so many people who might mean well are so very ignorant of their OWN ignorance. What an irony!!

I am SO glad to be out of this cult! I cannot believe they have the nerve to say the things they do. "Family oriented" and "pro-education"??? I knew 3 JW's who had a college degree out of hundreds. Care for the family? My wife left me because I objected to the WT's handling of my daughter's rape at the age of nine. Pro-education? I had three years toward a teaching degree and when I became a JW and wanted to go back after a 5 year break to finish the degree, they told me I wouldn't have any privileges or would be pleasing Jehovah if I did. So I didn't, and my wife bitterly resented having to work also all those years because I couldn't get a "real" job. Now she's gone, along with my daughter, and I'm the biggest apostate in two states.

Sunnygal, you smell a twist coming. I smell something else. I hope I don't step in it.

Elsewhere, I loved your point about "technically accurate but misleading". I wonder who invented THAT concept??!! Talk about the pot calling the kettle black.

Virgochik, I saw the same thing in every congregation I ever visited. Hey, WT, can you spell "hypocrisy"??

Fullofdoubtnow, they will not only mention the donation arrangement, but there will be those tall cardboard boxes at every entrance.

I know one thing about "Mary", who works in healthcare and squeals on other JW's. If she or any real JW divulges my personal medical information, that JW is going to need hospital care as a patient. It's a good thing face transplants are now being done.

Article re New Members of The Governing Body

this weeks study mag, march 15th has on page 26 an article re.

the new members, anthony morris and geoffrey w jackson .

both are men believed to be in their fifties who joined bethel in 2002 or 2006. they both came from the the "nethanim class" of helpers to the gb .. * w92 4/15 p. 31 announcement ***therefore it has been decided to invite several helpers, mainly from among the great crowd, to share in the meetings of each of the governing body committees, that is, the personnel, publishing, service, teaching, and writing committees.

I had just a few points to make. First, why are they listing all these committees?? Who cares? I don't care how many fiction writers they have, does anyone else? They wouldn't list the translators of the New World Bible, so why list the members of these committees? Where is the modesty, humility, and anonymity?

I'm almost 60 years old. Maybe I think I'm now one of the anointed. Can I apply? Or does the fact that I'm the biggest "apostate" in my state mean I might not get in? Not fair. I think they need a "balanced" viewpoint on life. You know, they're insane and I'm not. Any thoughts?

Blues, good point about imputing motives. I mean, we don't do that, right? We don't tell the world that SIX BILLION people are goats are will die because they don't want to live in Rutherford's "Third Reich". But it's okay for them to do. Well, fair is fair, I always say.

To Stillajwelder: That new light you see down the road will no doubt change color or even go out when you get there. Better bring a flashlight.

Oh, I get it now. I'm a Psych graduate. I'm stained with "worldly wisdom". Far be it for me to understand the reasoning/logic/whatever of the WT. Just when I think I can figure them out by taking proper logic, turning it around 180 degrees, and going with that, they throw a wrench in the works. I'll have to go and read my books again. (I want to be number 143,997. I heard of the WT before these guys did. No fair.)

it is a well known fact that most of the work that takes place within the watchtower society contributing to its success, is due to the backbone of the watchtower which can be described as the women in the congregation.

To Lovelylil: I'm surprised that the sister who was conducting Bible studies with men wasn't counseled about the propriety of possibly being in their homes alone, unless she always took another person (probably a sister) with her.

You can't win. After all, the entire game is rigged, so we all know the outcome.

or maybe its my dad in particular?????.

they things he accused me off was unbelievable, we were never allowed to do anything to ruin his standing as an elder.

I only became a JW when 27 years old, so I don't have your backgrounds. I'm sorry about the skateboard sawn in half, reading diaries, and checking to see if girls were pregnant. Any Psych major in his first week of class will tell you how damaging all this control is. No wonder kids who leave the WT when 18 years old have so many troubles. Rest assured that the problem is NOT the JW kids, it's the parents. Any parent who would rip apart a kid's bedroom is mentally deranged. And the more you squeeze kids, the more they slip out of your hand. That's why so many quit when they reach the legal age. Then the parent says, "I don't know why, we brought them up right." Like hell you did, morons.

Paul speaks of solid food and getting off of milk. He also mentions making your own decisions. How can young people learn to do that if everything they do is watched? This sounds like a strip search in prison. The kind of family atmosphere that this rigid upbringing produces is exactly the reason why JW kids end up doing the things they do when grown up, like date non-JW's, smoke, sex, and using make-up without a hall pass from Ted Jaracz. (If you're reading this, Ted, I know you. You do have a nice voice when you give talks, but you need years of psychiatric treatment. And don't bother with the crap about me being an evil slave. I've heard it all and YOU are the insane one. Why don't you walk across the New Jersey Turnpike at night?? Thank you.)

My book is going to include the damage done to young people, not just in the area of child abuse sexually, but in other areas. JW parents are responsible for so much of the mental illness that their children have because of the strict manner in which they raise them. Teenagers need privacy, trust, and independence. Tearing apart a teenager's bedroom is so uncalled for. Why don't you let your kids tear apart YOUR bedroom?? How many sex items might they find? How many fathers would NOT want that being done?? Or mothers too for that matter?? You HYPOCRITES!! What if your kid found that pistol (only for protection against burglars, right?, but they're not allowed) and shot himself by mistake? What if the teenager found love letters to the father from a mistress on the side? Then maybe the mother would shoot the father instead of the teenager.

How about "do unto others as you would have them do unto you"? Oh, yeah, the baby boomers are now elders. How much pot do some "elders" have or MS's or just plain fathers?? I'd love to see some kid find pot in his parent's room and call the cops. I'd laugh my ass off for weeks.

Well, I think that's enough for one post. Again, my sympathies to those who have been hurt emotionally or had property taken or destroyed. Your day will come when you have kids and raise them properly by NOT using Gestapo tactics. And to you parents breaking the rules by being here and reading this right now, I'll say this. When your daughter gets pregnant or your son gets the cops into your life, it will be YOUR fault, not theirs. And again I'll remind you, don't argue with me. Steve Hassan wrote an excellent book on cults, Randy has posted dozens of articles, and I have a degree in Psych. Don't even try to pit your window washing brains against the common sense that we "apostates" possess.

Anyone here thinking of seperating or other major life change?

right now i am in a bit of a turning point in my world and was wondering if anyone else is there or had been there and would like to chit chat.

i guess i am feeling that if these difficult decision and transitions are shared with others that understand they might be a bit easier to live through.

Dear Cabin: My wife came to me in 2001 and said, "We're thinking of separating from you." No explanation, wouldn't discuss it. Three days later she and my 16 year old daughter came home from the Service Meeting and said, "We just came home to say goodbye. Our bags are at my sister's house and we're moving out. During the next week, she came back and took her clothes and personal things. That was it. I've seen my daughter once in the last 3 years and that was last June when they both had dinner with me to say goodbye because I was moving to Florida to stay with family while I got back on my feet.
