Reminds me of the thread a while back about JWs approaching ones standing at gravesites in cemeteries. Thank goodness many cemeteries have the sense to ban such solicitations. With all the security that no doubt was in place at the 911 site, it is a wonder they were allowed. Who knows what they could have been concealing in those carts, if they were not "real" JWs. They couldnt have been too close?

The insensitivity and opportunistic nature of witness at the 9/11 site !
by stuckinarut2 ini saw an online post with pictures of all the witnessing carts all around the 9/11 site during the anniversary of the tragedy.... im appalled at how opportunistic they are, and how they prey on people in a mourning and vulnerable state!.
apparantly they boast of: "there are 65 carts, with 200 witnesses manning the area... and so far 15 new studies started!".

giving honor to an individual question (wt style)
by carla inobliette posted a thread about gb worship in the july 15 issue which got me thinking-.
in other smaller books which i have only seen skimmed quickly (i think the yearbooks (?
)) they often have articles about various jw's and their struggles and now the articles about the gb members and so on, my question is; why don't they see these articles as giving too much honor to one individual as they do with birthdays?.

I agree with DATA-DOG. And, with a birthday, the individual is honored just for being himself, for being born, whereas these articles extol the virtues of an individual who is honoring the organization and the GB. But I see carla's point, we were always told we shouldn't be praised for doing something we should be doing anyway! (And Just Kidding, if you are going to be snarky about someone's question, please change your icon from a sweet kitty to a pit bull.)

PART TWO of AN IMPORTANT MESSAGE BY A PRACTICING JEHOVAH'S WITNESS
by Sparks inwhile you are sitting there reading this, there are literally hundreds of thousands of young males and females all over the world [ mostly in america / canada and england] sitting in their grotty little smelly bedrooms or flats, designing computer viruses that they will up-load onto web-sites to cause anonymous innocent peoples computers to malfunction.
these creeps spend literally weeks, months or even years hoping to make a computer viruses that will get into peoples computer bios to completely destroy their computers.
they never see the peoples anger, frustration and distress.... the damage can cost each person about 1,000 [ $1,660.74 ] or more to replace a basic new laptop or tower.

This is making me crazy...isn't anyone going to point out that he kept spelling "discreet" incorrectly? I am sure that made Jehovah very sad. Evidently, he doesn't use spell check.

I hear it but I can't believe it
by Sour Grapes inmy elder friend told me that his kh is in need of upgrading their electronic system so that they can be ready for the big zone meeting in november and they need the flat screen televisions mounted to also enjoy all future special meetings put on by the branch.
the branch has given them the exact specifications and he mentioned the branch wants to use apple products.
they passed a resolution for a one time donation by the publishers to pay for the $6,000.00 system.

Geez, what about the elderly who think an IPad is a personal hygiene product? This is unbelievable, must be their effort to retain the young ones who leave asap when they are of legal age. I hope the KHs have a good security system, unfortunately you hear of churches being ripped off all the time of their computers, tvs, etc.

Why did they use a guy with a mustache? How happifying it will be when he learns the truth and shaves it off. Evidently he does not yet know that facial hair makes Jehovah sad.

Wonder if the congregation will support his family while he is in prison. Oh wait, all the surplus funds have been sent to Brooklyn. So sad for the victims family.

My JW friend turned down the "privilege" of working the literature table at the park. Why?
by MissFit ini have written before about my jw friend that plays hookie with me on sundays.
we skip the meeting and go straight to lunch and margaritas.
she converted later in life and has been a jw for over 25 years.. she is in her late 70's and has had heart problems.

I'm not sure how I am following that she has a magazine route, placing 51 magazines but hasnt been to a meeting in over a year? I know I have been gone a long time, but?? And if she doesnt agree with so much of it anymore, how can she in good conscience be a part of distributing this crap? Just asking. Like, if someone would ask me to pass along a magazine or tract, no way could I do it!

Wow, sounds like he doesn't deserve that job! I don't think anyone has a right to take a job that they expect so many accomodations to be made for their religion. If you cant do what the job requires, dont even apply! I'm sure the company has to tread lightly so as not to be slapped with a lawsuit (something I also dont agree with, a lawsuit for religious grounds) and it sounds like they have gone out of their way for him. Of course then if he is let go, it will make a great "I was persecuted for the Truth" story at an ASSembly.

My husband loves to garden but our property is mostly shaded, so he rents a plot at a nearby community garden. Most every time he goes over, another gardner is there and they usually end up sharing the bounty, whatever the other doesn't have in their own garden. Yesterday he gave a lady a basket of green beans, she gave him some beautiful red bell peppers.
My daughter is a pet sitter. One of her clients is a teacher, so she just started back for the school year to care for her 2 adorable Pugs. The lady teaches 2nd grade and often takes treats to her students, and she always leaves one for my daughter. My daughter is 28, but getting that little treat, a packet of gummie fruits, a tootsie roll pop, etc, always makes her day! Many here mentioned pet stories...yes they fill our lives with so much joy as they each have their own little personalities. They love us even when we are not at our best.
