Well, here's another reason to not love this new site. I posted my comment on my Kindle which I use 75% of the time about 10 minutes ago. It is still showing a circle going round and round saying it is Queued for processing?? I get on my desk top, where I had to sign in again after having signed in about 1 hour ago, and see my comment has been posted, but I am looking at my Kindle going round and round and round. WTF? -

I guess I am in the minority when I say I really do not like the new site. Before it was easy to see the latest topics and a list of active topics which I always checked first. This site was one of the first I became acquainted with after so long out of being a JW, partly because it was so easy to navigate. Guess maybe I just don't get it, but I think this new format is not user friendly at. Shame too, I am not so eager to check in here several times a day as before, mostly because I can't find anything. -

Jehovah's Trumpet - Dangers of Superstition
by cofty inthe latest blast of "jehovah's trumpet" warns us about the irrational nature of common superstitions.... the article then goes on to provide counsel on the dangers of the domonic attacks that often result from unwisely purchasing second-hand objects.
the risk is demonstrated by recounting the real-life story of poor sister lemming and her new ministry bag.. genius satire as always!
please take some time to read the community comments.. .

Geez, this is funny stuff. Never heard of this site so read the About Us page. Nearly spit out my coffee laughing so hard. The writers are really very good, sound like they have gotten more than that "university education" you get from reading the literature. I remember all too well hearing that over and over when I was growing up. Never thought to ask who says so, that seems so laughable now. And loved the name Sister Lemming. Genius! Definitely going to investigate that site further.

wanted: irreligious old fart with a brain, who likes road trips and coffee
by Hortensia ini find they don't have a category for that on eharmony or match.com.

The eHarmony guy is super creepy. I get a lot of exercise because of my little senior moments. My larger pantry is in my basement and I can't tell you how many times I go boppin down there to get something, forget what I went down for, then immediately remember it when I go back upstairs. So...another trip down and back up the stairs.

2 Faced JWs and Thanksgiving
by minimus inmany jws enjoy turkey on thanksgiving day and are often discreet about their indulgences.
why be two faced?
why try to excuse it?.

So how is Colossions 2:16 explained by them? If you were to throw that at them, I know they would bring up pagan connections with Christmas and Easter, but what would be the argument about Thanksgiving or Mother's Day or Father's Day...days that don't have a religious celebration connected with them.

My prophecy about the tight pants comments
by stillin inok, so, brother morris seems to have gone out on a limb with his comments about tight pants.
yup, he's an opinionated man.
but, i fully expect that there will be some reference to the scientific wisdom behind his words.

Ok, so the "boys" should have freedom of movement, but it's better for the youthfulness of the "girls" to be firmly supported. Speaking of tight pants, guess I am out of the loop here, not up on latest men's fashions and didn't really connect with what he meant...till I saw the Volkswagon commercial. The guy really does have on a close fitting suit with tight pants, but I think it looks quite snazzy on him. He is on the lean side though, and I don't think a guy with too much meat on his bones would look good it that style. Maybe that is why Bro Morris is against it, too much meat on his disgusting bones.

theres going to be an explosion of under 23 yr old newly weds
by sowhatnow inin order to not be subject to such a foolish idea that guys should be a ministerial servant by the time they are 23, [which is entirely not up to them btw].
even though jesus wasnt even baptized till he was 30 and he was way more knowledgeble, .
[god i wish i could spell check on here] were going to have a whole lot of young people getting married before the guy turns 23 i suppose.. or a lot more 'worldy' people getting jw mates.. because using my logic, which is usually questionalble, lol, id be the girl who would hury and date someone right out of high school.

Boy, I can relate to this. I was married at 21 in 1972. All of my peers in the congregation and the circuit, within a few years of each other all were getting married. I would have to agree with designs that probably 70% are divorced. Many remarried JWs, I was one of the really, really, really fortunate ones who remarried a nonJW and found my freedom.

Changed: Head coverings for sisters, w15 2/15 QFR
by wifibandit indoes a female kingdom publisher need to wear a head covering if she conducts a bible study in the presence of a male publisher?.
in a questions from readers item published in the watchtower of july 15, 2002, it was stated that a sister should cover her head if she conducts a bible study in the presence of a male publisher, whether he is baptized or not.
further consideration of the matter suggests that a modification to this direction is appropriate.. if the male publisher who accompanies the sister while she conducts an established bible study is baptized, the sister would certainly want to wear a head covering.

And with child baptism so common now with JWs, of course a woman who has been a JW for 50 some years would want to show the proper submission to a 9 year old boy!
