65! Looking and feeling fine! As someone here said recently, when they run into Witnesses they knew from long ago, those who grew up with the 1975 thing hanging over them, they look and project an old tiredness. I saw this recently at a gathering where I saw people I hadn't seen in 20 or more years. They were spouting the same old mantra....we really need the Kingdom, blah blah blah. They have become old, not preparing for an adequate retirement. I can't even imagine their mindset all these years being told it is so close, just around the corner.

Hey, just got back from a baseball game. I have been out since early 1985, was in since my parents came in when I was about 10, so was a good little JW for 25 years. All family on my dad's side were in. Started to fade when I got divorced. Ended up being the best thing to ever happen to me! Married a non-JW and began a new life. Haven't been shunned per se, but definitely been excluded from some family gatherings. This site keeps me up on the latest so I know what's going on with my still in relatives. All the older ones, parents, aunts, uncles are gone now. Remember, they weren't supposed to grow old in this system, but here I am with siblings and cousins growing old. We were the 1975 generation who were told we wouldn't even graduate from high school! How does this crazy cult still exist and suck people in?

Maybe your avatar is just too creepy! I will say you have an interesting background, sorry your wife is not on the same page though. Happy your daughter is out too. It can't be easy with so many JW relatives to deal with. Hang in there, at least when we need it, we have great support here on this forum.

Anyone in the UK know about this?
by punkofnice inone of my jw spies told me that a us jw speaker was visiting the uk.
some bigwig, on a tv screen, i believe.
sorry, that's all i have.. anecdotal i admit, but i was told he said, "you british think you are superior.".

The British are superior....most think Donald Trump is an idiot, as opposed to the nearly 50% of Americans who support him.😝

Your words express exactly how I felt 32 years ago when my (ex) husband came home one night and said he didn't want to be married anymore. Of course, he just didn't want to be married to me anymore. I was thrown into such sadness, confusion and despair, as your words describe. Of course, life moves on, thankfully, and I am in a much better place now. No denying though, sometimes love stinks.💔

This is just so wrong and sick. So now grandma has to wear a head covering if she says their night-night prayers with them! Of course 7 &9 year olds can make life choices, they just can't decide their own bedtimes yet.

Did others experience this on the ministry or among JWs generally?
by slimboyfat insometimes it's hard to know if our own experience of jws was typical and what features were peculiar to our own area or the individual jws we knew personally.
i was wondering if others experienced this among jws:.
a few times on the ministry, when we were working wealthy areas with large houses, some brothers and sisters would make the comment that they look forward to taking ownership of one of these big houses after armageddon, when the worldly people have vacated them.

Yes, been out for 32 years and remember often hearing this. Our territory ranged from older city neighbourhoods to a beautiful area with lakefront cottages and large century homes. Guess which ones the JWs were putting dibs on!
