Both meetings are cancelled here. There is a video online that's supposed to be watched before the memorial along with the Bible reading...or something like that, I don't really pay close enough attention anymore. 😂

He went to the meeting today!
by HappyBlessedFree inso after almost 5 months of not attending meeting, today my husband decided to attend the special talk.
i am sad, frustrated, nervous, but also hopeful that he will see something that he never did before .
lies and manipulation.

Fedup hit the nail on the head. I was sitting their baffled how anyone can't see through this. I can't wait to see Lloyd rip this one apart. It's all about organization control, it's not about Jah/Jesus anymore.

Funeral Fashion
by ThinkerBelle ini have a funeral to attend for a non jw family member and the jdub family member reminded me that i should not wear black.
for the life of me, i can't recall where this belief came from in jw teachings and i'm born in.
is there something in print or is that just a personal opinion belief?

I love how they spew off details but never a citation.
It is a non JW funeral and nobody there will be a JW which us why said family thinks we should properly represent the Big Guy. They didn't want to even go at first because of it being a church, but I mentioned that I'm not concerned and they changed the mind.
I just think it's so ridiculous how it's ok to wear black any other time, but, nope, not at a funeral because it may give the wrong impression. Kinda like when said family said I can't eat turkey on Thanksgiving....like what? If I only eat turkey sandwiches every other day of the year, why should it matter...the unreasonableness is real with this group.

Thank you, Atlantis! I assumed there had to be something in print for this particular person to run with it. I always thought it was meant a sign of respect and I have been to funerals where certain colors or types of clothes were requested also to honor the passed one.
I think pretty much everything the jdubs preach now is because of paganism, without realizing they accept many things that have the same roots. Ugh, I'm so done, fading can be a drag sometimes!
Scully, yes, I wear a lot of black....why would I go out of my way to not, LOL!

For the record, I am going to wear black just to be spiteful (PIMO).

Anti vaccines
by blisterfeet ini personally feel that vaccinations are beneficial.
there has been a modern movement that vaccinations are more harmful than beneficial to which i disagree.
what is your stance as an ex jw on vaccinating your children?
-
ThinkerBelle
my research I did over the years when I compared vaxxers to anti-vaxxers the anti-vaxxers were for the most part more healthy and were requiring less doctors visits for illnesses/diseases than their counterparts.
Um, Stonewall, I've had every vaccine as have my children and we are rarely ever sick and I don't have a doctor either because well, I've been healthy; no ADD or Autism or SIDS by anyone in my family or close friends for that matter either (all vaccinated). By contrast, there are people at the KH that are antivax and into homeopathy and they are constantly sick. So based on your standards of research, anti-vaxxing isn't a good thing.
As Orphan Crow said, you misrepresent your personal experience for actual scientifically, peer reviewed research (I'm guessing you don't hold a doctorate)...which is a mistake. Having had my 4 month old cousin contract whooping cough, I wouldn't wish that on anybody and why anyone would want to take the risk of their child experiencing any of those diseases is beyond me.

Baptised 52 years today!
by Phoebe injanuary 29th - my baptism date.
can you remember how you felt at your baptism?.
i got baptised because my dad kept frightening me.
-
ThinkerBelle
It was the 90s. I was born-in, elder's kid, 16 at the time and constantly questioned when I was going to get baptized because I was obviously old enough and all my other elder's kid friends had taken the dunk - what was wrong with me? I did it so people would stop bugging me about it. I had no feeling or emotional connection to it nor felt any different afterwards. It was simply a step you took in JWland...that I now fully regret having come to the actual "truth" several years ago.

Was disfellowshipping really sanctioned by God? Please share your honest views according to your Bible views
by Strugglingrsa inwhat were the writers of the bible telling christians when they wrote : “stop keeping company with anyone called a brother who is sexually immoral or a greedy person or an idolater or a reviler or a drunkard or an extortioner, not even eating with such a man.” (1 corinthians 5:11) regarding everyone who “does not remain in the teaching of the christ,” we read: “do not receive him into your homes or say a greeting to him.
for the one who says a greeting to him is a sharer in his wicked works.” (2 john 9-11.

Do you celebrate Christmas?
by LovingLifeNow indo you celebrate and how long have you been out?
.

ThinkerBelle
Yes, we do secularly for the fun and being with family. We keep gift giving to a reasonable amount. I love Christmas songs; they've been on my radio for 3 weeks now! This will be our 3rd time celebrating (actually, my 4th if you add in that one time I did when away from home) and technically, I'm still "in", but with family that aren't.
