i totally understand those who choose to stay single, as i was single for 6 years before i got married again !
as experts say, next to death it's one of the hardest experiences you'll go through !

Big fan of the book.
Chris McCandless was an educated, well-liked young man from a well-to-do family who ended up starving to death on an abandoned bus in the Alaskan wilderness. How he got there and what happened is a fascinating story. Before he died, he wrote a goodbye note and photographed himself waving goodbye.
The book was written by Jon Krakauer who did a superb job of writing it called "Into the Wild." He also wrote the original article about Chris McCandless in Outside Magazine which was later expanded into the book. It's really good writing. http://outside.away.com/magazine/0193/9301fdea.html

OK back to fluff for a change...has anyone had success making icecream?
by restrangled ini bought one of those new fangled devices, by cuisenart...pour the stuff into a prefrozen container and watch it turn into your dream homemade icecream....not!.
it comes out soft and soupy.
if you put it into the freezer it hardens into 1000 year old glacier like material.. it tastes good, but the texture is never where you want it.

Your problem is your ingredients, not your ice cream maker. If you want ice cream that tastes like Hagen Daz or Ben & Jerry's you have to use skim milk powder.

It seems I have my JW brother back
by MegaDude inwith the shit going down on this board as of late i'd like to post something really good that happened to me lately.
i got my brother jw brother back.
back in 2001 of this same month i posted about letting jw relatives go because i got tired of the pain of hoping those relationships would be restored when it seemed impossible.

My sister approached my JW brother privately and said, ok, what's the deal. I'm not going to let my kids be around you if you're going to be friendly one day and shun them the next. He told her he wasn't shunning any of us anymore. Further, he informed my uber-JW pioneer mother (who is so hardcore she claims to be one of the 144k) that he and his wife aren't shunning us anymore. It would be like my mother to report all this to the elders and instigate emergency shepherding calls and DFing threats but so far she hasn't. Maybe she feels like if she does that will push her last remaining JW child ALL the way out. We'll see.
Hopefully we can all sit down together and chomp down on some turkey in November. The Holy Grail will be getting together at Christmas. LOL. One step at a time.
