i ask because over the last few weeks i've noticed a marked 'cooling off' from my brother and sisters.
i don't think i'm being paranoid - has anything specific been printed lately?
bloody faith!.
Yes, Jean-luc, I've heard people mentioning the storms as well. And when I've said "things are no worse now than they've been before" and remind people of the plague, Black Death, smallpox, just about anything, I'm told, no, greater numbers of people are affected now and it's all coming at once!
There is no reasoning with them.

A Witness friend is attending the district convention in Long Beach, California this weekend and is all a-quiver about the talk on the image featured in Daniel Chapter 2 and its "ten toes". He is under the impression that something new and exciting will be revealed.
This is exactly what I was told on the phone last night, our convention being in a few weeks time. My informant was very excited, reminding me that the end is very near now, so near....you can feel it!
I've heard several witnesses recently discussing where they're going to choose to live after Armageddon.
Quendi, you wrote
I did tell him that I already had seen the convention program online (right here at JWN) and was aware of the talk and its contents.
Do you remember which thread that was in, please? Can you, or anyone, post a link to it?
reading the posts about the 2011-7-15 watchtower about mentally retarded apostates i foresee the following scenario:.
1. congregational elders trying to get grip on non regular publishers and inactive witnesses.. 2. the good ones read in the watchtower that apostates are to find in the local congregation.
3. inactives like me (i hate this name, but i use their language), and liberal witness like me, will be hunted, .

the latin fathers of the church has never described jesus carrying a "patibulum".
indeed, the early christians to represent jesus carrying the "crux", not the "patibulum".
it's a fact.
I was interested to discover recently that Darius, King of Persia, used crucifixion, more than 500 years before Jesus was born. That a cross was used is clear, and it's widely attested to.

"Definition: The Persians, Seleucids, Carthaginians, and Romans all used crucifixion as a method of execution. In crucifixion, the condemned was affixed to two crossed wooden beams, one of which was stuck in the ground. The arms were either nailed or tied to the crossbeam about 9-12 feet above ground. Death was sometimes quickened by breaking the legs. Jesus was killed using crucifixion, but he was hardly the only victim of it. The 6000 captured at the end of the revolt of Spartacus were all crucified by the Romans along the Appian Way, and in 519 B.C. Darius of Persia crucified 3000 political opponents. The Carthaginians sometimes crucified their own unsuccessful generals."
Finally, I'm interested in geology. When we got to the point in the Bible Teach book, I objected strongly to the so-called "proofs" that a stake was used and that stauros did not mean cross, because immediately I connected the word with staurolite. I had always been taught that staurolite was named after stauros because the crystals form at right-angles to each other, forming a cross. Not a stake!

There's a nice picture of staurolite on that page. It leaves no room for doubt!
without specifics being mentioned as to what it is......(to avoid tipping off certain lurkers).. how many people know about the upcoming summer long campaign?

Invite received and understood, and thanks for sending it. I won't go to more than one daay, but if I do go to that day, I'm in!

Since my teenage years over 40 years ago, inactive jws (inactive means not turning in time, not meeting attendance) were viewed as weak spiritually and a danger to active jws.
"Melanie was drawn to a fellow believer who was not faring well spiritually. “I was told she needed some encouragement, so I started to associate with her,” Melanie explained. Of course, the Bible encourages Christians to “support the weak.” (1 Thessalonians 5:14) Melanie explained. Of course, the Bible encourages Christians to “support the weak.” (1 Thessalonians 5:14) But Melanie began joining her new friend at bars, where further associations led her into reproachful conduct."
This is a good example of the way the WT twists the thinking powers of its faithful followers. "Weak spiritually", "not faring well spiritually". What can it mean? Oohhh!....it means people thinking for themselves! They're a "danger to active jw's.
Sheer brainwashing, cult mind control. And as for Melanie, look what happened to her! The misguided girl ended up going to bars!
it's from the jwtalk.net (the jdub forum).
the name of the topic is "bethel volunteers?":.
dub1: it was announced at our meeting last night volunteers for bethel in nyc.
Is this an opportunity for an undercover mission for someone?
there are 3 really basic releases for the dc this year.
revised vol 1 of young people ask.................hmmm lot of work in that one.
new brochure.
I had a phone call from an elderly sister last night. She's very old, and very sincere, and there's no way I'm going to cause her distress by disputing with her, so she talks to me a lot.
She told me authoritatively that there's a special new announcement coming at the DC, a new light on something important. I kind of glazed over during some of the call, but I have a feeling...95% sure...she said it was to do with Nebuchadnezzar's feet.
Now, on any other forum in this big wide web that statement would sound so surreal people would wonder what I've just been smoking, but here, it might give someone a clue.
Have I shed new light on the DC? Can anyone filluminate further?
