  Islam brought to the world, right from the beginning, much genuine learning, scholarship, science, medical knowledge and skills, and the Islamic countries have many greatly civilised, educated and humane people.

  Much like any body of Christians, Buddhists, Hindus, or any other religion that isn't bigoted.

  I haven't got time now to write more but I am VERY disappointed to find on this board prejudice of this sort.

  among the ammenities are a sand volley ball court, two tennis courts and a full basketball court.... there's also parking garages and picnic areas for visitors.... by the way, not sure exactly what this is but you'll notice a shaded area labelled "undergound chamber"... interesting.... (i wonder if moving out to the middle of nowhere was intended to keep bethelites from sneaking out at night and going to the liquor store... just saying).

  If my own recent experience is anything to go by, I'd say avoid them like the plague. What good could possibly come of it?

  Don't let your curiosity as to why now get the better of you. Stay clear. Say you're not interested, and walk right away.

  Somewhere in his huge body of writings, CS Lewis wrote about the misuse of the word "really".

  It's become a weasel word, and is widely used manipulatively, just as in the title of this wreched little book. It hints at truth, lulls the critical senses, and may, in context, give lies.

  Note the title of a propaganda site purporting to give the truth of what is "really" the truth of world events.

  More "Elders" Doubt They Are Appointed By The "Holy Spirit"!

  the study edition of the watchtower says the elders are appointed by jehovah's holy spirit.

  it's confounding the society does not realize that more and more elders, do not accept this claim.

  i have racked my brain, wondering how many brothers and sisters actually believe this, fall hook and sinker.

  Unfortunately the elders of my experience, admittedly very limited, see themselves as truly God's gift to all. They can do no wrong. Outwardly nice, fairly but not very intelligent men who become self-satisfied bullies.

  Blondie and 3rdgen, this question was discussed locally a couple of weeks ago, in JW-land. Once a man, always a man, was the JW verdict.

  Having been forcefully shepherded this week (how very unique and non-caring is the JW brand of shpherding) I suspect that the official JW view would be that being born a man is such a gift of God that no-one should ever give it up. And anyway, they'd think, we need as many brothers as possible to keep any uppity sisters in their place.
