as many of you know my brother an elder was called on to sit in a "judicial committee" re-instatement.. the brother has in the past done all he can to prove he is repentant but this time the co was here and apparently had a few things to say to the cobe when they were discussing the process.

the co asked why the poor guy had four re-instatement hearings and why the co had received a letter from him detailing that he "did not think he could do anymore".. anyway, long story short, the co sat in the hearing and hey presto the brother was re-instated.

my brother and the co spoke with the brother and the co said that he had done well and was sorry that the process has taken so long and shook his hand.. now he mentioned the latest letter about confidentiality and said that the society is being hit left right and center with civil lawsuits and are scared as the have no way of defending them.

Jeffro that is so true and it is something that they are now realizing does not fly with the rank and file.

Case in point a brother put before a judicial committee reminded them that if they made a phone call or even as much as took a note on matters and read it before a body of elders then the "privilege" is out the window, with the window washer.

Here in the US a British brother who had not been at meetings for 25 years started going back and within a week they had his records and file which infuriated him and he reported it to the ICO in the UK but of course they denied it. The Elder told him they could circumvent the problem by e-mailing the branch office so he admitted breaking the law is routine.

They are now hopefully realizing that they Stalinist grip they want is no longer there and that people are seeing them as a business who wants your money but does nothing but shove those who need onto the congregation.

They only ever issue letters when they are in trouble and the fact they ask for older letters to be destroyed is proof enough that they cover their butts so that any inspection would show nothing in the past but compliance with current law or attempt to be in compliance.

What I have further heard is that in the UK the law prohibits the passing on of information about any individual without that persons consent. They have broken this numerous times and it is now coming out. Unlike the US the british government has no written constitution and religion is not held high and that is where the comment about "not keeping account came in".

From what I have heard brothers are no longer scared to go head to head with the WBTs and Elders. My brother who will discuss things but never names of people period is getting fed up. My sister in law said he has twice broken down at things and she is worried about his health.

Hopefully something will come out of it all. They have used the law to get their freedom but dont want anyone else to use the law to guarantee their freedom.

The CO asked why the poor guy had four re-instatement hearings and why the CO had received a letter from him detailing that he "did not think he could do anymore".

Anyway, long story short, the CO sat in the hearing and hey presto the brother was re-instated. My brother and the CO spoke with the brother and the CO said that he had done well and was sorry that the process has taken so long and shook his hand.

Now he mentioned the latest letter about confidentiality and said that the society is being hit left right and center with civil lawsuits and are scared as the have no way of defending them. Terms such as "agents" "representatives" or "volunteers of" are not to be used and they are to code phone calls when calling the society as the whole clergy penitent thing is going up the whazoo.

Apparently, they are being sued by a sister in bethel who slipped and fell and injured her back seriously while in service and who asked the society to foot the bill. They refused stating the she is a "volunteer" and they have no responsibility for her period. The case is heading to court, when and where I do not know but they will not budge.

There are also civil suits about breaches in confidentiality and they are facing real trouble there. They may have to end the paper work relating to people being sent to Bethel as there are people issuing subpoena's for their files.

If I find out any more I will pass it on, but it is interesting that they have abused peoples rights for so long and now they are getting closed in on.

One interesting comment he heard in response to a talk about Caesers law and how the GB law makes it difficult to keep records was " how do you know that Jehovah is not allowing this to show you how wrong it is to "keep account". Of course the reply would be that they do no wrong.

Ill keep you updated on anything I hear.

State of Victoria has announced that they will investigate ALL religions... including the Watchtower

a friend just showed me a message from steven unthank on facebook where he mentioned (about 4 hours ago) that the state of victoria will be launching an investigation into all religions, including the jehovah's witnesses... he also mentioned that he will likely testify.. i don't know anything else about this because the message was brief, but i assume it has something to do with the protection of pedophiles.... has anyone else heard this yet?.

It seems that the real issue is protecting the society and for elders to take the heat in everything.

I have no doubt that since they mention laws encated by secular authorities they are seeing that they are powerless to control all that they want to control and that now people no longer fear them.

It is sad that they have spun so many lies that they are catching up to them and so they have to lie even more and cover themselves in every avenue they can think of.

Clergy penitent privelege does not and will never be something they can hide behind as it always takes third party reporting of the issue and boom it is gone and they have no legal standing at all.

My favorite quote " we are trained to deal with things" my reply was "no you are trained to lie" no response back!

WTBTS and government money

from what i understand is, that the wtbts isn't funded by (any?

) government(s).. this would be very understandable, in order to get money from a government, they would probably need to open their books,.

what i would like know is: has the wtbts appealed for government money?

I do know in Britain they are given 15 pence about 25 cents for every pound (dollar) they take in.

So for a million pounds they get 150000 pounds in help.

If that lasts under current government change remains to be seen.

If they are no part of the world they hould not take it.

why was there no official arrangement before 1952 to disfellowship people?

was there a different procedure with a different name?

was no one committing disfellowshipping offenses?

Blondie I think that there was an awake in 1947 that mentioned how excommunication as carried out by the cathiolic church was steeped in pagan ritual. It is on Marvin Shilmers website, good reading I will try and find it.

on another thread, one poster shared a humiliating experience they had in a judicial committee hearing.

the poster was asked, as it typical of such hearings, a series of highly personal and extremely intrusive questions regarding their sexual activities.

Simply stating that "they are not entitled to the information" irks them.

Follow it up by asking them if they believe they control your relationship with Jehovah and they hate it even more. Asking them this makes them see that they are powerless when it comes to your personal relationship with God.

Back it further up by telling them that you do not want to hear anything said to you that does not have scriptural backing and they are left floundering.

There is NO spirit in the JC arrangement! It is plain and simple ABUSE of the freedoms they are given.

as many of you are aware my brother who is an elder, shared with me another "shut this down moment" in a jc.

a brother who was to go before another body of elders told them that since they had contacted his former congregation they had lost their ecclesiastical privelege and that information they had is now subject to the data protection law including records etc.

when he was told he could not take notes he told the elders the same that they had to abide by the same non scriptural mandate.. apparently it was enough to shut the proceedings down until they called the "mother ship" for instructions.. they were told not to proceed with anything at this time until they got back to the elders.. my brother who hates jc totally said that more and more they are finding people quoting the law to them and the elders are backing off, not sure about the us where they can do anything they please but in the uk the dpa has really messed things up for the society.

really just know the basics but he said that they have so many protections in the Uk regarding there data on people. All I know is that the JC are not deemed illegal just that they have to be real careful what they say.

He said that they are meeting resistance from the bethel in England (branch office) and have to be very careful what they say but he knows they break the law all the time by keeping records which is against the DPA without consent, trying to have publishers signs records cards more or less saying that they can do as they please with the information they have etc

He said he has heard of a few cases that ended up with warnings to the society that they had breached the privacy of members but nothing came of them, and that the government is well aware of the society and how they oppose the act as it seriously restricts what they can do with information

This was a re-instatement hearing of a brother from England who move to another part of the country and warned them that they violated his rights.

Nothing has been done yet so I am wondering if they will go ahead and re-instate him anyway. He also asked where in the bible reinstatement hearings are even mentioned and they sat stone silent.
