ok everyone i am going to canada soon, vancouver to be exact, i was wondering if anyone can recommend places to go??
i love sight seeing and i want to take advantage of my time there (almost a week)... so what would u recommend?.
also i am planning a 1-2 week trip to the uk in october or maybe december, i know they are many uk posters here.... also, i want to take advantage to the max of my time there.. i want to go to those hidden treasures in the country side... maybe 1 day or 2 in london, but i want to see the wonderful uk country side... want to stop by scotland and ireland if possible... .
Go to Edinbugh in Scotland and visit the Royal Mile and have th best fun in the castle there. Also visit Glasgow which is a den of iniquity in some spots and visit the pubs or bars as they are called here in the US.
You will have great fun in Glasgow, the people are great and friendly and always have fun. (dont mention George Bush) but Clinton/Gore and Obama are fine.
The old lady and I had great fun there and princess street in Edinburgh has a beautiful Hotel on it which is expensive but when we stayed there we though we were extra special. All the security guards with dark glasses and Limo's were infront until we discovered Madeline Albright was staying there.
Just have fun fun fun.
she attended a local club for her company's celebration party.. they were saluting her for doing an outstanding job.. she wore a pretty little black dress and those heels again.

if i decide to get myself df'd (by telling the next elder who visits me to "go and do one") is it likely they'll send a letter to my old congregation to tell them the news?

The UK congregation would have to inform you that they were informing another congregation of your status.
They are forbidden under the Data Protection Act of releasing information about you without your consent, that doesn't mean they wont sneak around it.
Case at the moment in the UK which could go to court is a branch office informing a congregation in the US ( an non entitled country under the act) of a Brothers status which is forbidden in law.
Not sure of all the details but supposedly and Elder informed the Brother that his status was confirmed through a phone call from the UK or Ireland and by simply saying that the Elder had notified the Brother that the data protection act had been breached.
So I would check the act to see if there is a way of stopping any information going out about you.
if there is not pressure being put on you at the moment by the Elders just let the situation be as at this time they have nothing on you to df you or anything else.

Skeeter, believe me the bottom line is despite their being a law WBTS will find a way around it.
When speaking with them I asked a while ago if they always thought that the introduction of new laws limiting the control over religion was "satan at it again" they believe it is.
However show them Luke 12 verse 2 and ask them if it could be Jehovah telling them to stop hurting His people and they flatly deny it.
Take the data protection act I asked if that was a direct result of satan or if it was a direct result of them hurting Jehovahs people. Or could it be that Jehovah is saying what you are doing is wrong stop it?
To quote JR Brown "yes we obey the law but we will find a way around it" No matter what law is put in place they will find a serpent like way of running round it.
It is illegal for them to hold information without explicit consent about people in Europe but they do. Then when found out destroy it. It is illegal for them to write anything to other congregations so they call from pay phones to back stab people and amke sure the dirt is out on anyone, even those who want to return to the religion.
I am sure the new law will put restrictions on them but you can bet they will have lobbyist up there pushing for freedom of religion and claim it is an attack of their freedoms.

To all i cannot openly say which congregation he is in as one never knows who is reading this board but I will say this.
There is something brewing don't know what, but this time last year his congregation was 86 in attendance and now it is down to low 70's and young people are non existent. He was surprised at the reaction as I think on balance it should have been left alone period instead of people busily sitting calculating how much longer they want.
I don't know about the numbers growing as I am not in the UK but up north the numbers are way down as no one seems to be interested in anything being said, we shall see.
i think that more and more people are fed up.
My brother is a questioner believe me and they dont like it. Heres a clanger he threw, " if when disfellowshipped a person ceases t be one of Jehovahs Witnesses is his relationship and title as a witness voided?" Answer "Yes' "then why does that person have to go through a judicial committee if he is not a witness as the congregation doesnt see him as one to get reinstated" Answer " its the way it is".

Um ok if my kid was missing for five minutes I would have every breathing person on the planet looking for her. i wouldnt be out getting tattoos dancing drinking and only crying when i was found not guilty. she will never walk the streets safely guilty or not God knows her life is over!

I guess geography may have some impact on things as the british are a stoic lot and tough minded but he mentioned last time we spoke several weeks ago that a brother was disfellowshipped and then re-instated a week later and no one knows what it was for.
Then two elders stepped aside and one ministerial servant quit. so not sure what is going on.
