  It is amazing how much more freedom to think most other christians/religions have compared to JW's.

  Most religions do not dictate what you can and can't believe at all.

  William Lane Craig is a christian teacher at a christian university. He accepts evolution for example and modern physics and is himself a philosopher. He has ridiculous views on gid in my opinion, but he certainly has freedom to think.

  If Watchtower say aluminium is bad, then aluminium is bad! If they say rape without a scream is consent, you don't get a say in the matter. If they say child abuse is best resolved by bringing the abused and abuser together before the elders, you can't argue.... You are simply NOT ALLOWED to question the governing body. This is totally the opposite mindset to education, knowledge is gained and developed by doubting EVERYTHING.

  Such freedom of thought simply would not work with JW's, they are the only ones with a body who dictate their perspective on everything from science, to how tight your jeans are.

  Probably the most dangerous thing to a WT mindset, is the first skill needed in sll higher education, critical appraisal. It simply is unworkable as a JW and brave is the person who tries it on as a JW. I attempted it.....

  Not many subjects they could teach...... the REAL information outisde of Watchtower proves them all liars.

  Chemistry

  Psychology

  Philosophy

  Religious Studies

  Politics

  Medicine

  Besides, what is their motive? They don't care if you pay your bills. JW's are the poorest religious denomination. They have plenty of cash, and the money is rolling in. They need workers, not thinkers.

  They need free labor for the ministry and bethel work and lots of builders for the construction work. Apprenticeships with builders still require 3 years of college, yet the WT condone courses they need... Plumbing, joiner, painter etc.

  I always thought it was odd that they could dictate so specifically what career was acceptable, until we had a letter read from bethel, with the same list of professions being asked for, to help build the mill hill facility.... Hmmmmm.

  Buzy bee, no the hospital could only do what they did with the law behind them and the law was CLEARLY refering to a living pregnant women.

  from my very first post, I have said they have missaplied the law, therefore it is illegal. The law they used did not apply, so they illegally overode a legal document, an advanced directive and the legal authority of the next of kin when capacity has been removed. it went to court because it was a LEGAL matter and the hospital had took action based on a LAW, but they missaplied it, making those actions not legal .... Illegal.

  "Hospital officials have said they were bound by the Texas Advance Directives Act, which prohibits withdrawal of life-sustaining treatment from a pregnant patient. But in his brief ruling, Wallace said that "Mrs. Munoz is dead," meaning that the hospital was misapplying the law."

  It isn't complicated. I said exactly as the judge did, several pages ago, several days ago.

  I have no idea what you are arguing about. You want me to quote a law ....for what? You don't seem to grasp that to act illegally, includes misintepreting a law and denying someone their legal rights. There is no SPECIFIC law about giving an injection to someone against their will, but if I do, I'll be charged with assault.

  They quoted a LAW to defend their actions, that should tell you enough to recognise how intricate the line of legal and illegal is in medicine. The hospital TOOK AUTONOMY AND CAPACITY from the mother and the surviving father, that can only be done with a law to back you as a person's autonomy is utmost. They didn't have it, denying the mother and father their legal rights.

  It was illegal.

  did a simple search in the wt library for words like, "question," "questioning," "doubts/ing,"obey," "understand.".

  these are listed in order of occurence oldest to newest (up to 2012 as my library is 2012 version).

  "if we have love for jehovah and for the organization of his people we shall not be suspicious, but shall, as the bible says, 'believe all things,' all the things that the watchtower brings out"qualified to be ministers (1955) p.156.

  A 3000 year old book is unknowable unless 8 retired window cleaners in Brooklyn explain it to you.

  Lets start with the name Jehovah, first said only 700 years ago by a monk who wrongly decided to combine YHWH, or in latin JHVH and the vowels from the hebrew word for LORD... adonai. By mashing the two he make JaHoVaH.

  Having called themselves Jehovah's Witnesses, it is too embarassing to admit their poorly researched mistake.

  So if they can't get that right....

  The Pastor of my Old Church Tried to Re-Convert Me Yesterday

  yesterday evening my wife and i were invited to friends house for new year's eve.

  we met them when i was a christian and we have kept in touch.

  they had a few other friends there as well, including the new church pastor and his wife.

  The argument 'we don't know what is going on with our god' doesnt work, because we cant be judged and thrown into a lake of fire forever, for making desicions based on not knowing what the hell is going on. I could simply say 'it appeared you were negligent, because you did not explain yourself.'

  For me personally, the christian religion as founded in the bible, is clear, god IS SUPPOSED to answer your prayers, is supposed to help you. It is not for reasons of scripture that people claim god no longer intervenes or peforms mirscles, it is an argument born in realisation that we dont see these things happen....

  The claims of miracles and interventions are written on scrolls 3000 years old, which were based on stories passed by word of mouth.

  When I was a JW kid and I woke up on december 25th and Santa had not come, I did not conclude that Santa's ways were higher than mine and I was not to understand them, I grew up and realised he didn't exist. It hurt, but it was real.

  Anthony Morris and Disneyland "the Magic Kingdom"

  in his talk the turd said disneland is ok cause he took his kids there.

  isn't disneyland known as "the magic kingdom" why in the world is it ok to go to a magic kingdom of fantasy and make believe with wizards but a kid playing with a stupid wizard toy makes jehovah sad.

  how can the turd be ok with thousands of magical toys and rides but at the exact same time tell them to throw those same toys in the trash.

  Data dog, this answer makes you more moral than god OR more able than god, which by definition denounces your god as less than a god, as a human would have done more.

  as for the hope in the bible, which bible, which books, the jews didnt share your hope, the christians were expecting a returning jesus, the hope in the bible depends who you are and in what century. Why even subscribe to THIS bible as prepare for political reasons in Rome.

  Lastly, the bible does not belong to christians, the jews hold it as their holy book, the muslims do also, even the mormons subscribe to the bible. It is a jewish book, 3000 yesrs old. It reslly doesn't 'belong' to any of these evangelical american churches today, nor is it owned by a roman, pope led movement, nor does it belong to jews alone. It is a historical book intertwined with older myth.

  I see the bible as a historical insight into how peoole thought a long time ago. I find the bible quite hopeless, the judgemnet, the immoral acts using a deity to excuse them, the segregation by race, nobody stops and thinks 'wait a minute god chose ONE nation... That doesn't make sense!'. Data you may believe you are going toheaven, but the bibke says that is only because the jews screwed up.... Does that make sense to you?

  i appreciate this is folly, you have your beleifs and I wont change them. I just find it disingenuous to see 99 pages of people pretending to have answers to all these contradictions in the bible and in its god.

  one for mit last month, and one for princeton tonight.. if i told this to people at my old hall, i am sure the reaction would be the same as if i broke a big, noisy windblast in front of them.. but i have to brag about it to someone, so, i will do it here.. .

  we will not know anything about whether he is going to be accepted for a couple of months yet, but, as they say, this $%^# just got real!.

  By themway, just so he has options.. Have you told him that the UK bethel plans to be 'like a university campus but nicer!'

  It is only fair game that he knows his options, MIT or working in a factory as a janitor for a year, then progress to the shipping department!
