Put it this way cold steel.... if you think that photo is literal.... it isn't..... it is neither science or fact. It is a bing search result!
That picture is not what any scientist from Darwin on has EVER said, funny how christians believe it and have seen that phoyo everywhere.
Why are you so lazy about checking facts? Do you not want to know the answers? I don't comprehend someone who goesno further than typing into a search engine and assuming that is enough....
These are specialist topics, they require scientific literacy and significant understanding.... results from a search engine, produced by everyone and anyone is meaningless.
I think you are a troll, so I am tapping my tag team buddy, the ultimate warrior and hopping over the ropes....

An important difference between atheists and true believers
by Hortensia intrue believers, whether christian, muslim or whatever, want to convert you, they want you to believe what they do, and they're willing to go to extremes to make it happen.
atheists don't really care what you believe, and don't go out of their way to convert someone.. http://ow.ly/vn1jz an example of what believers in power do to suppress any difference in thought.
http://ow.ly/vraeo an example of why believers want to suppress different ideas (because they can't win in a fair fight, that's why).

Prologos:
Beleivers sacrifice the desire for evidence for the desire for comfort.
Atheists sacrifice the desire for comfort for the desire for evidence.
So believers believe they have a moral monopoly, the holy texts tell them so, that must be and I remember myself was comforting. They also believe they have a purpose, they believe they will live on after they die. They believe they will see dead loved ones again. Many believe they will be young and healthy again. For all these things there is no evidence. They choose comfort over evidence. There is no right or wrong here, I am just replying to the opening post. Likewise, going on, with the atheists, they chase evidence and sacrifice any idea of after life, ressurections, returning to youth or cures. They make their own purpose in life. It is a heavy loss when leaving religion, alkin to being told all your youth that when you turn 45 you will inherit several million, only to find out that this promise was a lie. The money was never there, it was never true, but still you feel a loss.
I wouldn't believe any atheist who said said they did not sacrifice some comfort in becoming an atheist & due to the restrictions of observing and testing the supernatural, every believer has had to sacrifice a need for evidence, hence they have faith.

Cold steel, when you can define evolution THEN you can crowbar it into your belief systems.
Add to that "Atheism has not made society more intelligent, more tolerant, more humane, nor has it improved science or even the way people vote."
What on earth do any of these things have to do with the TRUTH of whether there is a god or not?
I certainly hope you are not claiming your religion has done these things? You need to show proof... because I have never seen evidence of it. Quite the opposite.
"There is evidence that within the U.S. strong disparities in religious belief versus acceptance of evolution are correlated with similarly varying rates of societal dysfunction, the strongly theistic, anti-evolution south and mid-west having markedly worse homicide, mortality, STD, youth pregnancy, marital and related problems than the northeast where societal conditions, secularization, and acceptance of evolution approach European norms."
"Indeed, the data examined in this study demonstrates that only the more secular, pro-evolution democracies have, for the first time in history, come closest to achieving practical “cultures of life” that feature low rates of lethal crime, juvenile-adult mortality, sex related dysfunction, and even abortion. The least theistic secular developed democracies such as Japan, France, and Scandinavia have been most successful in these regards. The non-religious, pro-evolution democracies contradict the dictum that a society cannot enjoy good conditions unless most citizens ardently believe in a moral creator. The widely held fear that a Godless citizenry must experience societal disaster is therefore refuted. Contradicting these conclusions requires demonstrating a positive link between theism and societal conditions in the first world with a similarly large body of data – a doubtful possibility in view of the observable trends."
2005, the Kripke Center Study “Cross-National Correlations of Quantifiable Societal Health with Popular Religiosity and Secularism in the Prosperous Democracies"
Why did you bring it up? Will you ignore evidence and facts again? Now YOU have brought it up...LOOK the evidence says you have been lied to AGAIN!
Willing to research it? Hopefully a little more seriously than your examination of evolution?
Or...after seeing the evidence above....will you claim everyone is out to get you and your belief system, just like the JW's said... it is persecution, it is satan the devil... it is the demons, it is the atheists...it is the muslims? It is a conspiracy by people who dont want to serve or worship your god?
Really?
How about letting one go to the evidence.... your belief system CAN harm socierty, remember the dark ages? That was the same bible, same jesus, same god!
What about retracting your comments about atheism as it seems to be evidently untrue?
Refuse to do that.......ask yourself....why ?????

by objectivetruth inthere have been a few posts in the past about watchtower inc. at 100 henry street, but i do not see the answer i'm hoping for.. can anyone confirm or provide details linking watchtower inc. to the wbts?
they are across the street, and one can easily assume that they are connected, but i don't see any definite links.. the closest i have come is this link: http://www.insideview.com/directory/watchtower-inc which lists watchtower.org as the website.
this could have been posted like this in error however.. according to 2014 sec filings watchtower inc. has a ceo named sholom drizin ( a man worth possibly 2 billion.).

Old thread...
It's a hotel, Hotel St George, a college residence.

Hey, I found it all odd too due to the name. But Jews in Brooklyn with business connections, suspicious? It is a start up company that has never kicked off. It looks like it is odd or dodgy, maybe either ready to be used illegally or it is a front. But so far no links to WT and what do we know about this stuff?
It may be perfectly normal.

I tried and failed to find any links abour 5 years ago..... I eventually felt it was all too sloppy for WT especially considering all the lawyers in HQ, but keep looking.
I think it was just a few conmen with a coincidence to us, they chose Watchtower Inc as a name. I truly didn't feel it was WT after looking into it. If you have the time dig, dig, dig :D x

Shark Evolution
by metatron inhttp://descrier.co.uk/science/fossil-discovery-shows-model-evolution-sharks/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=fossil-discovery-shows-model-evolution-sharks.
i used to consider sharks to be evidence for creation - and against evolution because it was stated that they are largely unchanged after millions of years ( hence, 'what evolution?')..
that's not the case, however.
-
snare&racket
Because google doesn't work like that..... it found all the articles with sharks and evolved and more in them.
Did you bother to look at or read the results? "Sharks are more evolved than we thought"... i.e. the changes in nature were more influential than expected
"Scientists have previously theorised that the structure of sharks gills had remained unchanged since the emergence of the creatures 400m years ago, long before the arrival of dinosaurs."
"“This challenges the longstanding view that modern sharks have preserved an unchanged ancestral condition, and indicates that modern sharks have acquired features stemming from evolutionary innovation."
Maybe next time tbe arsed to read what you link and post !! This proves you even more wrong about evolution.... you are posting evidence for it now.

Band....that was almost comical
"You are discussing a fragment....Broad statements need proof.....it is a stereotype."
and then lol....
"Atheists on this forum are relentless in their bid to shame believers and win converts."
Ignoring your description of a moral high ground then ironically jumping right off it, what exactly are atheists converting people to? I agree they when first become atheists often want to tell everyone the proof they have seen, but convert? To non belief? It doesn't make sense.
Seth Andrews an evangelical minister and radio host for a christian radio show, became an atheist alone in his family and surroundings and called it a de-conversion. I would agree that atheists have a motive to deconvert......but not to convert ! They DON'T have beliefs in any movement, god, religion..... unless you want to make broad statments and stereotype....based on an ignorant external view.

607 vs 587 BC - Cyrus Cylinder
by objectivetruth inhi everyone,.
i'm researching 587 vs 607 for the date of the destruction of jerusalem... i'm not doing the research to prove or disprove anything about 1914, rather i'm looking at these dates in comparison to 1948 & 1967.. what is your view on relying on the cyrus cylinder, to accept 607 as the correct date of destruction... i know that there are many other factors.. but i'm trying to keep this portion of my research as simple as possible, so i'm primarily interested in the appropriateness of using the cylinders date of 537 + 70 = 607. one other question.. is it likely that both dates 587 & 607 have their own significance?.
-
snare&racket
There is only one group of people that believe it..... I suggest you read Franz's chapter on looking for 607 evidence.
Also I remember the Brithish Museul had the Babylonian Tablets, one labeled ABC5 had reference to its destruction.

Some atheists do want to convert people too, Ithink many ex christians go through an evangelical atheist stage.
It is ironically human evolution, xenephobia has us all wanting to be in the same tribe, all safely doing, thinking and acting in the same way.
Human behaviour is NO guidance on truth or even what is arguably right or wrong. All we have is evidence.
I truly believe the one and only difference between atheists and believers is which side of the fence they fall on....
Comfort or Evidence
Anyone saying they have both is lying.
