I think this bullshit is healthy, the JWs will go there thinking... "This is it, this is it, this is it!" And once more it is NOT an announcement about when they want everyone to get on a bus and head to a shelter secretly built by bethel....awwww all the babies and women and children and men won't die after all YET....It's just brother boring telling us verses we showed people on the ministry 2 days ago... Yawn... I best most JWs see through the special meetings bullshit nowadays anyway. 20 years they have been playing that card from my experience alone!

Also, let them ramp it up, let them tell all JWs it's here, in 5 yrs time they will remember the memorial that had the special talk that didn't mean jack shit.

Keep playing the Armageddon card boys, desensitisation is what our bodies do best, before long the boy will realise there never was a wolf. By the end of the 80s the world was changing so fast with technology and globalisation, the change caused a lot of fear. Most JWs aren't afraid of life today, they may be tired and stressed because of the religion, but most recognise the world around us as striving for good things. The more the internet/communication/knowledge grows and becomes so easily accessible the less people will even want to live in Wolverhampton forever, in jeans and a tucked in plaited shirt, driving a tractor running on chicken shit.

Is the Watchtower shy about repeating their new "generation" teaching?

as i recall in the 1980s talks and watchtower literature, magazines and books were always talking about the "generation" teaching and how it proved armageddon was going to come any day now.. but am i correct in thinking they have only actually mentioned the new "overlapping generations" teaching once or twice in the literature?

why are they so shy about talking about their great new interpretation?

it's almost enough to make you suspect they are a embarrassed about it.. mention it once or twice, don't dwell on it, hope everyone just accepts it, and don't bring it up again.

Also, speaking to JWs in the UK most have no idea when I ask them about the new generation teaching. They dropped it into the letter talks of the Sunday and obviously didn't emphasise it that much, everyone I spoke to missed it completely. The clay feet on the other hand..... Wow lol lol lol.

Lol.....

Those quotes above are the first time in ages I have read Watchtower 'language'. It's sooo....embarrassing and strange. It evokes feelings of creepyness and also WTF are they going on about? Its such a convoluted, synthetic-zeal driven syntax that feels so lacking in substance. When you pick up a Dawkins or Hawking book (hawking especially) the density of information in every sentence is nourishing to the mind and where appropriate, to the deepest emotions too. When Prof Brian Cox described the universe altering around a man exciting the molecules in a diamond by simply touching it, it doesn't just nourish the intellect, but touches the sentiments of being a human in our universe, the knowledge we have come to know. Compare this to the Watchtower, it's like drinking sand when you are thirsting for water. Sand that tells you it IS refreshing, and to deny it would be mentally diseased or satanic.

No other literature I have read,be it fiction or non, textbook or journal or even commentaries, not one have the strange 'us against them'/ defence lawyer/ this is why we are right, approach to writing. The Watchtower starts so many sentences with 'surely..' or 'let us...' unique in being so determined to steer the reader not inform them. Have they learned nothing from their past? They were MORE confident than this with their older Generation teachings, aka false teachings, false prophecy.

Strange. Again it just goes to show how normal something seems if you are brought up in it or if everyone else is doing it. Though to be fair MOST JWs don't read the mags at all. Utter shallow garbage, the best section being Watching the world, stolen from the national geographic, science, nature, new York times and for some strange reason quite often La Monde?.

Is there any religion that has so much anti-apostate focus as JWs

i'm surprised at how much is in the watchtower lately and at assemblies warning of apostates.

is it my imagination or is this ramping up a lot lately.

i am a born-in and stopped attending only a few years ago (now in my 40's) but don't remember so much anti-apostate warning as we see now.. the watchtower seems extra obsessed with apostates and the need to warn about them lately.

I have Muslim friends, you won't believe how IDENTICAL their thinking and policy is.

If I get them with a good question the first thing they ask is if I got the question from an anti Muslim website, full of ex Muslims, Jews and Christians in their mind. One guy recently told me the encyclopaedia brittanica was Zionist because the history of crucifiction disagrees with the Quaran.

I have had them tell me to be weary of opposing views to Islam from bias bitter ex Muslims, who in Islam under sharia law face death, as in actual death not JW pretend death. It happens, here, in the west. A film maker in Europe was stabbed through the heart, the female Muslim in his film was flown to USA to protect her. My Muslim pals talk of her as if she was the devil, despite the fact she was abused, her genitalia was circumcised (awful practice) and her leaving Islam stemmed from escaping a forced marriage to ger cousin. Muslims call her a liar because she lied to the European country she fled to in order to escape her family. She is HATED by Muslims because she airs the dirty linen of real Muslim life for a female.

Muslim apostasy and anti-apostasy is akin to JW's only not as pre leant and you have to be very vocal to get noted.

I spoke to a famous ex Muslim atheist, she is quite famous and I hope to invite her to my university for a talk next year.

How Will The Governing Body Endure?

forget about witness kids.

ignore the concerns of 'old-timers' (well, the society pretty much has, anyway).

my question is: how can the governing body endure it all?.

People are being told to pack a bag to keep by the door for when the great tribulation begins. Seriously! That kind of fear mongering will backfire, when the clothes in that bag need a wash after 5 years and zero prophecy has taken place and 2014 passes, what then? I think 2014 will see apathy sky rocket and the number plummet. I have noticed with my family that the WT are trying to ramp up the "Its coming, its coming" 80's style, but it really, really isnt working. They realy dont have the same control as they did over people even 5 years ago.

The only issue is, these guys have no money, no homes, no life, no family, no car, no savings and nowhere to go. So what will they decide? Continue feeding people looking for answers animal terd, or put their hands up and at an age when they should be retiring and walk out with nothing? I can see why so many die at that factory.

Prehaps our tactics should alter. Maybe we should get the message to the GB that if they do the right thing, we will ensure they have somewhere to go. They wont be judged, for they are just human and that we are all in it together. These guys have got caught up in the power and the expectation same as we once did. I was in bethel, I could have easily gone up the ladder had I not been so fond of porn and war games. They must sleep very poorly ! Their intentions were initially good. If we give them an out, they may just take it. ( If i ever become a billionaire, I may just offer them all homes in exchange for honesty...)

They are but men, you never know..... they may just read it and I am sure they started off in this thing with the best intentions. Deep down somwhere they want to do this. Maybe we need to help them.

Seriously, pack your bags, take your wife by the hand and go live out the remaining days of your precious life. The clock has sadly ticked away your life, and you know it has all been for nothing. I am sorry that is the case, I truly am. But the animal is now being fed by you , every day you say nothing, everyday you stay too scared to walk or talk, everyday you ignore your conscience you allow it to breathe, to continuning to eat other peoples lives as it once ate yours. You have the power to stop the machine from grinding up more lives earlier than it needs to go on for.

Stop it all now. Walk away. Dont die in the walls of a factory, or in a cold clinical room donated to you from other peoples money. Die with a clean conscience in a home of your own, knowing that in one action you may just make a difference to 7 million lives. We all know this mislead business is a house of cards waiting for a gust of wind to blow it all down. Will your name be amongst the men that attempted to hold it up or will you be remembered for shining a light on where darkness has lived for too long? Think about it, at best how long will this religion last? 10 years? 50 years? 100? Your name will forever be attached.... but will it be for strength, or for weakness ?

Those verses in Matthew never mentioned the slave accidently feeding the animals harmful foods, foods that could lead the animals to wander astray, it didnt mention the slave being a poor quality farmer, that got better.....
