i know that the watchtower is notorious for misquoting authorities in an effort to disprove evolution and give support to their version of creation.

Looks like the scientist that talked of suing them was Professeur Meinesz. Not sure if he did or not, he wanted hard copies of the brochure.

Are YOU a Thinker?
by alamb inthe recovering thinker.
hi, my name is bob, and i am a recovering thinker..... it started out innocently enough: i began thinking at meetings now and then to loosen up.
inevitably though, one thought led to another and soon i was more than just a theocratic thinker.

So they couldnt decide..... YHWH (to be) or Adonai (lord) as the scrolls from the desert used both...
Soooooo some bright spark decided we should add the consonants of Adonai to YHWH... and the bullshit name JEHOVAH was formed.
Since i learned this little nugget of interest, that non-name, non-word means zilcho... nadda.... frak all..... to me and to reality.
Ps the letter J is one of the newewst letters of the alphabet in the whole flipping world... if you know one thig for sure, that is not his name.

Ps. also.... "his" adonai-ship does not bloody exist.

When I think of these stories and cases I think of the people stood atop barns in 1914, waiting to be scooped up by Jesus....... It did not happen, but they didnt all leave. This says much about the NEED for these beliefs... much more powerful than the belief in these beliefs.
This 'need' is harder to break, for it is not based on reason or logic and therefore contrary facts and figures are diluted in value. This need is founded for many by the emotional and psychological want for something more.
Answers are available, it is 2012. But it takes effort to find them. You cant fit astro physics, abiogenesis, evolution, string theory and the multitude of other beautiful answers into a pamphlet or a 6 month, one hour a week study. However you can fit a heap of magic and superstition, mixed in with some uneducated deciphering of ancient texts from a desert people. In reality BOTH of these options provide a plug for the gap, the need for answers. It is nothing more than conveniance and comfort. Would the old me go to the library to see when Babylon was destroyed in a history book, or simply accept 607 as correct? Would someone still a JW now take their family to visit the neanderthals remains and human ancestor remains in a museum to seek their authenticity and place in world history.... OR avoid that area of the museum on a trip? (By the way, how creepy is it.. the JW's are ready waiting for other JW's at our museum entrances. THAT is how policed we once were!)
For as long as people will be content to consume what they are told.... such transmitters of fluff will exist and survive. Saying all this, the WT are different in my mind. Most religions shrug their shoulders about the future, especially the very near future. The WT have laid all their cards out on the table... its a cheap trick to get more people around the table in less time, but with higher risk of being caught out. It takes real quick handy work, adjusting the cards into a 'new light'.. but they have promised too much, too soon and in the next few decades it will either be once again unrecognisable to how it is now, or diminished.
Then again, what the bollocks do I know. Long live Zeus.

I had another visit from a JW
by KristiKay insome of you may remember my story, i studied with a women for 6 months, after about 3' i realized what a corrupt organization it was and spent the rest of the time trying to get her to see what was going on with the watchtower org.
she has been a jw fo 50 years, completly brainwashed so i ended the study.
a few days ago a nice gentelman rang our doorbell (woke us up) and i heard my husband sayin "you might be interested in talking to my wife, but she is not here" i ran down the stairs with sleep in my eyes, tried to get myself together as best as i could, and told him that he really needs to look into his organisation, mentioned how the greek nwt is changed, told him he needs to "make sure of all things" read coc, i told him it was a shame to devote his life to a dishonest org, and he has to look into it.

"God is not going to kill everone, so stop waiting for that."
I love it ! Great work. When I left, one of the big personal motivators was not wanting people on behalf of my ideal house in the country, with lions on my porch. My nephew was debating with a crazy partaker of the emblems today and he roasted him alive on this exact point... he even said "you pray and await my death!...but claim to be christian." He asked him how he could sleep at night, hating mankind so much when my nephew thought humanity was amazing, beautiful etc. I wish I had been there for both of these convo's.
The Jws are right we plant seeds in their minds with such comments..... seeds of truth and doubt. Both are lifesaving from the borg.

Ps well done, you saved your family, children, marriage years of heartache! Smart lady x

if so, what to you think?.

Looks like an evil, apostate website. Made by a disgruntled individual, with little to say.
No offence but you are playing on all the JW brainwashing. A professional, thorough website is the only way, with nothing but scriptural and literature reference. Opinion is just that... opinon.
However, good on you for taking the effort. If you put some serious time into it, I am sure you can achieve a little enlightenment. In regard to the website itself may i suggest you look at some free JOOMLA templates. As for the content, an encyclopedia of WT issues to the standard of JW facts and better, needs to be the starting point. Otherwise, no offence but JW facts does the job.
Finally, if you really want to scare JW's away and not inform them... keep preaching another god to them.

Do you think theres such a thing as a "normal person"
by londonlady ini was trying to think of all the many many people i've ever met and conculded that none of them could be termed "normal".
some of them might have seemed normal to start with but on further inspection most definatly not!.
in answer to the obvious question no i do not think i'm normal neither, i don't think i would want to be either.

Dont want to get all scientific... but no there is not. There is no blueprint for a human, no perfect DNA or "normal DNA" ..... so in that regard we are all unique and thats the best way for it gives us genetic diversity.
