  The annointed remnant figure rising - a question

  having been out of the loop for a while on here, it dawned on me that the figure of memorial partakers has risen substantially from when i was a jw.. i think i bowed out at around 8500 in 2006.. can anyone briefly explain what the main reasons for this increase are and if it is ever discussed among jw's because if i remember correctly, the figure should be going down, not up.. thanks.. j.

  A WT magazine was printed on this subject last summer. They blame the increase mainly on mentally unbalanced ones. Then they go on to say that they don't know nor do they have any way of knowing how many true anointed there really are on the earth. They close be saying that it isn't important that they know either.

  Funny.....while the number was falling.....it was "proof" of how close the end was. Now that the number is sky-rocketing upward....the number no longer matters.

  My guess is that soon they will stop printing the number alltogether. The higher it goes, the more of a black eye it is

  while still a believer, ray's books helped me to see that the idea of there being two classes of christians was a 'unique interpretation' of the watchtower society with no basis in scripture.

  around here they are becoming popular.

  basically it is a congregational effort to get as many people as possible to make a full day of "field service".

  Basically it is a congregational effort to get as many people as possible to make a full day of "field service". They'll meet at 7:00 am at the KH and eat breakfast there at the hall. The breakfast will be huge (pancakes, eggs, sausage etc) and will be coordinated by some of the sisters. Then they'll go in service til noon. Then they'll meet back at the KH for lunch. Same thing. (chicken, potatoes, beans etc). Then they go back out in service til 4:00 or so. Then they meet back at the KH for some sort of dessert. They try to make it as "fun" as possible to get people to want to participate.

  So what do your Jehovah's Witness friends and loved ones think of the generation teaching?

  after the little skit at the last assembly where one brother was asking another for understanding about the generation teaching i thought, "wow, these people will believe anything the watchtower tells them.

  " the 'more mature brother' practically said verbatim everything the watchtower said as his explanation.

  evidently, this is one of the sources of the increased 'murmuring' that the talked warned against.. so, has anyone brought this up to their witness friends and/or family?

  My wife won't even talk about it. She can't explain it logically. I am not even fully convinced that she understands it. But above all else....she was raised to believe that the GB is God's mouthpiece. Whatever they say is coming from God. Even if what they say should prove to be wrong.....God chose THEM.....and it is her duty to obey. You don't have to understand....you just have to obey

  It is thinking like that.....that scares me to death. I dont think it would ever happen, but if the GB decided that all witnesses should drink poisoned kool-aid.....there would be tens of thousands if not hundreds of thousands of people that would die.

  This is what happens when you are taught to believe that obeying the GB is the equivalent of doing God's will

  For me it was when I decided to actually sit down and do the research on 607 BC. When I was finished and there was a heaping pile of evidence for 587 and not a single shred for 607.....I was shocked.

  That and I recall sitting at a meeting and hearing a sister say "if the faithful slave tells us to do something.....then we do it! No questions asked. We do it and that's that!"

  This was followed by the conductor saying "Exactly......very fine comment".

  At that point I had actually begun to think critically. Normally that comment would have gone in one ear and out the other....but THIS time it resonated within me. I started actually paying attention at meetings and the cult control and governing body worship was absolutely amazing

  "Do you still feel Jehovah is directing the Organization?"

  for those of you with experience being asked this question.....or those of you that are/were elders........ what would happen if you responded to that question by saying "i don't know"?.

  what would happen if you responded with "i choose not to answer that question."?

  and then when they ask why, you say "because i wish to invoke my 5th amendment rights".

  Thank you everyone for your replies.

  In no way did I mean to implicate that there was truly a 5th amendment plea that they would accept. I meant to simply ask if they had grounds to DF me for apostasy for simply refusing to answer their question.

  So is it safe to say that my refusal to answer that question will be interpreted as a "no" by the 3 elders and then the DF process starts? (similar to a person's accepting a blood transfusion as "voluntarily disassociating themselves"

  What would happen if you responded with "I choose not to answer that question."? And then when they ask why, you say "because I wish to invoke my 5th amendment rights". They could continue to ask why.....but I could easily keep giving them non-answers. They would get the point....they would know how I feel but without me officially incriminating myself. Would such a tactic work due to the fact that they didn't get the answer they were seeking from me, or would they still have grounds to DF me?

  C.O. Is coming this week

  so i had the elders come to my house about two months at the time i told my wife and family that i was having doubts.

  they came by i explained my position and they basically told me i needed to be more humble and just tow the line like many others have before me.

  well i have not gone preaching or to any meeting for two months after that and did not recieve any phone call from the elders, which was fine by me .

  "Altough my trump card is that I have not shared my thoughts with anyone including my wife, and my father who has been an elder for many years says a comittee can only be formed if i begin spreading my ideas."

  After reading countless testimonies and seeing how several different congregations work myself, I can confidently say.....it all depends on where you live and who your elders are. Some have said they've been asked "the question" (do you believe that the FDS is directed by Jehovah). And when they answered "no" that was all that was needed to DF them. Others, such as my father, verbally and abusively tore into the elders and the CO about the crap that they spread....and yet never got DFd.

  So....it depends on their agenda. Do the local elders like you? If they do....I honestly think that unless you start spreading your doubts around....they may not DF you if you are honest with them. If they don't like you....they may be looking for ANYTHING at all they can dig up against you.

  The safest bet is to say nothing
