Lindsay Forfa, a private from Fort Lauderdale, Fla., said she recently got married, ``so personally I'm not looking forward to the possibility of being deployed to Iraq.''
``But I think the United States has to take control of the situation,'' she said. ``Saddam is a terrorist in every way.''
Sgt. Alex Meek of Red Oak, Iowa, said he was ``impartial'' about whether war should start, but added, ``If the president tells me to do my job, I'm going to be one of the first ones to jump up and say, 'Ready!'''
In nearby Watertown, N.Y., Jehovah's Witness preacher Armand DeBardelaben suspects war is inevitable, but hopes he is wrong.
``Any time you have war, people die,'' he said. ``I don't want anyone to die.''
DeAnna Tonak, 18, of Centerline, Mich., is a student at the University of Michigan's Dearborn campus and worries that some fellow students might have to fight if war breaks out. She also fears war would raise the danger of terrorist attacks in the United States.

JW comparison
by messenger inthe tory mantra was (and still is), oppositions dont win elections; governments lose them.
that may have been true for much of the postwar period, when britain was a nation clearly in relative decline, when the economy was regularly subject to wild oscillations and when the spirit of the nation was one of pessimistic fatalism, verging on despair.
but in an era of prosperity and economic stability, when britain is gaining ground on the rest of europe (partly, though not exclusively, because of economic reforms introduced in the tory years), this attitude will not do.

MOVIE REVIEW
Plenty of room for laughs in 'The Chateau'
By Wesley Morris, Globe Staff, 10/4/2002
n director Jesse Peretz's light comedy ''The Chateau,'' Graham, a white hipster-doofus (Paul Rudd), and Rex, a cool black businessman (Romany Malco), inherit a big house. The men are brothers, the house is in France. And the semi-improvised movie, as it clashes cultures like kids whacking on pots and pans, is funny, even after it has run out of ideas.
Graham and Rex (ne Alan) Grandville arrive at the estate with papers explaining to the confused, reluctant four-person staff that they are now the rightful owners and intend to stay on the premises until they can unload the property. The groundskeeper Pierre (Philippe Nahon) is mystified and annoyed by Graham's Franglish (''I recevu this letter.'') and tells his boss Jean (Didier Flamand) that the brothers Grandville must be Jehovah's Witnesses. Not quite. But they are unwittingly playful saboteurs of the French language.
Rudd's Graham is a particularly hilarious assailant. He runs around the movie in an overcoat and galoshes inciting communication breakdowns with his prep-school drawl. Rudd's comedy is remarkable because it's mostly verbal. If small American movies have a more charming, intelligently self-pitying clown, where is he?

Not only will the Tories look as silly as Jehovahs Witnesses, constantly postponing the effective date for their prophecies of doom. They will also find themselves out of touch with the spirit of the times. The trouble with Mr Blairs earlier attacks on the forces of conservatism was that an optimistic and self-confident nation tends also to be attached to its present institutions and to its past history and traditions. An optimistic country does not accept the status quo (just look at America), but equally it does not want a Maoist permanent revolution. What a confident country wants is permanent revisionism, as one of Mr Blairs Cabinet colleagues puts it.

Boyds son: Reopen stepfather's case
Bimla Boyd
He suspects foul play in the death of Charles Boyd. http://news.statesmanjournal.com/article.cfm?i=49258
ALAN GUSTAFSON
Statesman Journal October 3, 2002 James Boyd, the oldest son of Bimla Boyd, a woman accused of Sundays fatal shooting in Polk County, called Wednesday for reopening the investigation into the death of his stepfather earlier this year.
Absolutely. Theres no doubt in my mind. Even without what happened this past Sunday, theres still reason for a new investigation, James Boyd said.
His mother, Bimla Boyd, was arrested Sunday in connection with the fatal shooting of Robert Daniel Spencer, a caretaker at the rural property.
Spencer was the fifth person to die there since 1998. Three people were gunned down at a trailer on the property on . And Charles Boyd, Bimlas former husband, died of an undetermined cause inside the five-bedroom, hillside home on . James Boyd, 28, a computer software engineer who lives in , suspects foul play resulted in Charles Boyds death. He declined to discuss possible motives or evidence but said hes willing to share his information with police investigators. Lt. Richard Manning of the Polk County Sheriffs Office said the agency conducted a thorough investigation into Charles Boyds death earlier this year, including interviews with James Boyd, and found insufficient evidence for criminal charges. He said county investigators would consider any new information.
If he can give us information that we havent already checked out and it warrants it, I have no objection to reopening any type of a case, no matter how old it is, Manning said. But it depends on the information.
James Boyd said investigators failed to dig deep enough into the tips he provided.
I dont want to say it fell on deaf ears, but they were just so overwhelmed with the details of the case that they just didnt really take into consideration everything, he said.
Charles Boyd was deeply depressed in the weeks leading up to his death because he and his former wife were thrown out of the Jehovahs Witnesses church in December 2001, according to reports compiled by Polk County investigators who looked into his death.
The reports indicated that elders of the church accused Charles and Bimla of living in sin because they continued to reside at the same house at after they were divorced in October 2001. Bimla Boyd, 46, told detectives that her husband killed himself by taking an overdose of prescription pills. She blamed the church for his death, saying that their banishment drove him to commit suicide.
But Charles and Bimla attended a church meeting the night before he died, part of a process they hoped would lead to a reconciliation with the church, investigators reports show.
The next morning, Charles was found dead in his bed at the Orchard Heights home discovered by Spencer, the caretaker who was found slain in the same home Sunday.
Officially, the cause of Charles Boyds death was classified as undetermined, according to a medical examiner report. Toxicology reports indicated that he had two prescribed drugs in his system but not a lethal dose. However, he was a fairly large man 6 foot 3 inches tall, 220 pounds with heart problems, and the combination of factors may have resulted in his death, the report said.
It was a combination of health condition and overdose on prescription medication, Manning said.
James Boyd questioned the notion that his 44-year-old father, a veteran Postal Service employee, was in poor physical health.
He wasnt going to be doing any Ironman triathlons, but lets think about it: He had a walking postal route, carrying 40-, 50- to 80-pound mail bags. So Id say he was in better shape than the average person Dad had a few pounds on him but that didnt kill him.
For the son, lingering questions about his stepfathers death have taken on renewed urgency since Bimla Boyds arrest Sunday.
Spencer, 54, had worked for Boyd for several years. He died of a single gunshot wound.
Spencer, who lived in a trailer near the main house, took care of Boyds 30 acres and tended to her medical and family needs. He took her to doctors appointments, helped her shower and transported her two children to a school bus stop, according to investigative records and interviews.
No motive for Sundays shooting has been made public. The two teenage children are being cared for by James Boyd, who wants to be granted permanent custody.
The trailer where Spencer lived was the scene about four years ago of a triple homicide. A man, Philip Scott Cannon, was convicted of shooting to death three young adults. He is serving a life sentence at the Oregon State Penitentiary. Bimla Boyd was a key witness in the case against Cannon.
James Boyd said Wednesday hes confident that his mother had no involvement in the triple slaying.
I really dont see any link, he said. That was very much of a bad decision that they let those people on the land. Beyond that, he said, the three murders had nothing to do with my parents.
Bimla Boyd has been involved in other legal problems, court records show.
As a civil lawsuit against them and their church gained momentum early this year, the Boyds became concerned about protecting their property and other assets from a possible future financial judgment against them, records show. In late January, less than three weeks before Charles Boyd died, they signed their property over to Spencer.
Title to the land recently switched back to Bimla Boyd, records show.
James Boyd remembered better days, before five people turned up dead on the property. He helped his parents buy the land and secure a loan to build the house.
They got a really good deal on the property. It was very inexpensive. he said. They bought it. They wanted to build a house. I thought: How idyllic, thats awesome. I wanted to help them out as much as I could.
James Boyd said his mother did show flashes of goodness at times.
She has helped people in the past. She means to do well but shes her own worst enemy.

Disfellowshipping Procedure Changes
by WTLies inhas there been any changes as of late in the way the judical committe operates?
i was just in email with a dub that assured me that the elders no longer make decision to disfellowship but instead it's made at the society.
the elders only recommend.

There is no change in procedure, this is typical "theocratic warefare" in trying tomake the WT look good in some twisted way. The committee has always made the decision. It is pure stupidity to think that the JC woudl send a report to WT in which men who know nothing about the case would make a decision. You have to use your head, which JW's are not used to doing.
There has been no changes in this area, it is just some dub trying to spin things in a good light.

There is a difference between active and inactive records. When you da your cards and information go into the sealed envelope where your df/da papers reside. Your records do not exist in the active file and unless someone goes into the sealed envelopes you do not exist. The inactive records will remain and they will keep it until you die. Due to sloppy record keeping most keep them after that. The publisher record card remains with them even keeping old cards from the day you first started field ministry. They do not have to destroy them it is there practice of religion to do it this way and you have not right or freedom that superceeds their rights. Our founding father would throw up if they knew how their constitution was being abused to destroy human rights.

Why the Memorial?
by professor inwhy is it that everyone and his cousin shows up for the memorial?
what is it about this meeting that makes people come out of the woodwork?
is it like going to church on easter and christmas or something?

The 15,000,000 plus that attend the Memorial are doing one thing, admitting WT is right. To attend you are agreeing with the ideology and allowing them to put you down just one more time. It is evidence of WT programming in that when they leave they never really leave the feeling that all JWs are right and they better make a showing to stay in their good graces. The Memorial is the greatest salute to cult mind control and provides evidence of how it works.

Stupid alert!
According to JW theology it took Jesus FIVE YEARS to rassel ole Satan out of heaven, FIVE YEARS??? Now if Jesus backed by Jehovah cannot even get Satan to move in five years how is he going to throw him into an abyss for one thousand years in a matter of minutes at armageddon??? Don't you think Satan would fight a lot harder to keep that from happening? I mean getting thrown to earth is like playing in a sandbox for Satan, but locked in an abyss?? I think he might put up a bigger fight. Now has Jesus been working out for the last 100 years and is all buff now and can kick some of Satan's butt? or is just some more JW bullshxt theoelogy that does not add up?

Women. Periods, and how to cope with them .....
by Celtic inputs plugs in his ears from the start.. now, it don't seem to be my imagination, but many ladies for some inexplicable reason seem a tad unreasonable at least once a month where anything i do seems to be wrong in their eyes.
most ruddy irksome it is from a guys point of view i can tell ee.
here we are, quite happy in our own right, say something to this here balmpot, and wowwwwww irritable utterances just tumble forth with such degrees of unreasonableness tis almost funny to observe, but dare i laugh in their presence whilst she be in this most unpredictable of states?

It is good to let the little lady take a break for a week no wood splitting, car washing or lawn mowing. Just don't let her give you any lip. If she gets grumpy, just say, "Are you on the rag again??" That is usually enough to remind her to be submissive. If she tries to give you a dirty look, just call a couple of elders over to discuss her untheocratic attitude toward submission to proper authority.
When properly trained all you should have to do is raise your finger as a reminder and she will quickly apologize for not respecting your headship. Just make sure the little woman never forgets a period is never an excuse not to honor and respect those she is authorized by God to obey.
Any other questions?

I think the answer is simple,
A person who condemns others for not living up to the ideals of a certain religion when in practice they do likewise, is a Hypocrite. Therefore Friday, You Know and Bleep show themselves to be the lowest form of Christainity in the opinion of Jesus Christ. They are low life hypocrites who fellowship with those they condemn in order to try and feel superior. In the congregations they have been or are now associated with, they are looked down on as nothings, so they come here to try and grab some superiority by attacking those who could care less. Little men with large hyprocrisy wasting their lives pretending to be something they are not. You wouldn't really qualify to be a Pharisee as you never even made to their level, you are more like a "white trash" Pharisee whose peers do not even acknowledge you exist. You get more tolerance on this forum than you would ever get in the congregation, therefore this is the only "spiritual paradise" you know and you twits take a dump in it every chance you get. And you call us screwed up?
