  the tory mantra was (and still is), oppositions dont win elections; governments lose them.

  that may have been true for much of the postwar period, when britain was a nation clearly in relative decline, when the economy was regularly subject to wild oscillations and when the spirit of the nation was one of pessimistic fatalism, verging on despair.

  but in an era of prosperity and economic stability, when britain is gaining ground on the rest of europe (partly, though not exclusively, because of economic reforms introduced in the tory years), this attitude will not do.

  i got a call today from bruce baker (venice's daddy) telling me he was going to be on the news tonight.

  he wanted me to tape the interview.

  my vcr hasn't been able to tape anything since the last time i kicked it so it's unplugged with a new dvd player in it's place.

  in another thread i was chatting with dave (sevenof 6) and he brought out an awesome point.

  i said my problem with the bible was if it contains life for people.....then all those without the word and christ are doomed.

  i have heard that the wt are offering other excuses other than wanting a libary czard.

  does anyone know of any, and where if so can i get the information.

  has there been any changes as of late in the way the judical committe operates?

  i was just in email with a dub that assured me that the elders no longer make decision to disfellowship but instead it's made at the society.

  the elders only recommend.

  what is it about this meeting that makes people come out of the woodwork?

  is it like going to church on easter and christmas or something?
