Has a critical mass of exJWs been reached?

it took the better part of 15 years but i believe we have finally arrived at that point where there is now a critical mass of former witnesses.. thousands of exjws come together on forums like this one and discuss findings, ideas and research.

there have been documentaries and even a movie made about life in the jehovah's witnesses.. ex jw websites, online forums, and discussion boards that set the wheels in motion in the early to late 90s have matured into powerful tools of social change within the organization.. the lies and false doctines taught by the watchtower bible & tract society are plainly accessible with just a cursory google search.. active elders leak boe letters, often weeks before they hit the notice board in a kingdom hall.. social media has allowed exjws to connect with those still in as well as those who have left.. the society have no game plan because information is power and they have lost the information war.

all they can do is cry wolf and warn the rank and file not to listen to apostates.. i don't know what future the society will face in the next ten years, but changing world events, social trends, and reactionary change from headquarters based on their own faulty biblical chronology has got them cornered like a raging animal.. it doesn't look good..

Will they be Jehovah's Witnesses OR "Jehovah's Witnesses"?

Since my point is overlooked, I'll be more explicit. The Witness of today is NOT the Witness of yesterday. Pioneering has been derated. Contributions are often pathetic. Men aren't reaching out - like they used to do. Witnesses are widely dependent on anti-depressants ( and soon, marijuana). The WTS CAN'T come down hard on downloading porn or they would decapitate the organization.

There will be "Jehovah's Witnesses" in the future. And more and more, they will be similar to Catholics ( or should I say "Catholics"?)

This is the Governing Bodies dilemma. More "Witnesses" that are worth less and less in every respect.

according to wt tamud, if a jw does in-vitro fertilization, carries a surrogate child, uses a surrogate, and so forth then it is "por-neia".. the bible says that mary was a virgin when implanted with the embryo of jesus christ.

under the mosaic law adultery was punishable by death.

since mary was already engaged to joseph, if she was to sleep with another man it was the same as adultery in the eyes of the law.

I'd make several observations here.

First, in honesty, many of us never expected that this fraud would continue this long. The only thing I can say in defense is that it is difficult to judge irrationality - and that's exactly what we're doing! How do you put an 'end date' on an organization that should have given up after their first of 130 years worth of false prophecy?

Second, the hopeful thing is that the organization is stuck with ever deepening facade maintenance - there is outright rot everywhere but as long as pubs and bible studies increase, all is well for them. If they ever started losing publishers globally, it would be the meme that killed them.

It is hard to believe that the GB never asks themselves, "What's the point of gathering ever weaker, ever more dependent, ever 'never open their wallet' publishers?"

I would sooner tell a Witness something like, "i don't believe in God" before I ever said "the organization is dying". They cannot stomach the thought of their Organizational Idol being anything less then invunerable and invincible. It can't just decline in absolute numbers even if everything else decays notably.

Finally, has anyone ever considered how cheap Witnesses really are compared to other religions? A new roof for a tall church or cathedral, reworked stained glass, some missions to support, paying the pastor a wage, etc. OMG, Witnesses are a joke! I've never seen a "true religion" that keeps cutting back so much!

A Better World - Can it be achieved?

the hope of a better world is what attracted me (and likely many of you other loiterers (grin) on this site) into the mental mindtrap of christian thought.

i guess its understandable, re-reading the words that the author of the matthew gospel that we know as the sermon on the mount, its easy to think, that if jesus ruled the world, everything would be ok.. i'm still interested in a better world.

so have many other thinkers (and revolutionaries).

Free energy - or at least a different and universal alternative energy source

Life span extension

At least, a much better battery (AKA "the bettery"). This alone would radically reshape the world politically and economically.

CO's & DO's age 70+ to be laid off on 9/1/14

in a private conversation with a c.o.

friend from north carolina, he told me yesterday that they just got a letter that all traveling overseers (do's & co's) age 70 & up are going to be laid off on 09/01/2014.

they will be asssigned to local congregations and further details are pending.. .

What a disgrace for "true religion" to offer such an inferior retirement plan ! Which would be better, to retire from government service or retire from WTS service? This - like dumping long term Bethelites - is about cutting financial liability.

I'm not sure that the WTS can count on 30-ish CO subs to go fulltime as such. Any wife who agrees with such an awful fate is kidding herself. This Organization has always been "blessed" with sycophants aplenty but they don't always pan out or last. It would be difficult to imagine that much eagerness for this roving KGB position exists in an overall environment of 'no thanks' as to getting new elders and MS's.

Beyond all this, how far can they go with eliminating middle management? If you can pop up the GB on the Jumbotron to give talks, who needs much more?

or to put a sattelite at the right time at the right speed in the right direction in the right place to have it orbit another body, so :.

what ingenious natural & process is it, than can get 9+ zillions bodies to get into the right orbit simultaniously or sequentially and have them remain there for billions of years?

I continue to hope for alternatives to the Big Bang theory that involve the cosmos always having been in existence. There have been anomalies reported but not enough to overthrow the existing astrophysics narrative.

I keep saying that there is a trap here of the Fallacy of the Excluded Middle. Our culture throws us a choice between theism -and usually all that goes with it such as Jesus/ Bible and so on OR rejection of all of it in atheism. I see a middle position.

It's kind of Hegelian to me - a synthesis of the two which gives us an interconnected, lawful universe but without a personal creator.

I also see no morality whatsoever in creation. It's all predation and blood n' guts. Ethics are ( and should be ) part of the human realm, not nature.

I just see this as simpler but each to his own.

Stop seeing God as separate from the universe. Seeing "God" as the universe makes things much simpler.

I stopped asking ,'who or what created everything' and instead ask, 'who or what maintains everything?'
