  R&F JWs Eager for Dateline?!

  had an interesting talk while visiting my jw son-in-law this past weekend.

  out of the blue he tells me that there are some brothers and sisters in his congregation who know about the dateline program, and who have called or written dateline urging them to run the show!!

  these are active jws.

  I never really thought about it before you mentioned it
  but I notice it too - congregations with far more elders
  than MS's.

  Wow, what an evidence that the next generation is going,

  Disturbing trend in WT magazines...

  this may be obvious to some but has anybody noticed the lack of doctrinal based watchtower study articles in wts for the last 2 years?.

  lately we've been just getting either "pep talk" articles or articles that are only based on subjects.. the only new light lately is mainly the daniel and isaiah books.

  and any new light in wt's is mainly just clarification (usually in the q's from readers page).. from ak

  Ye Gods! I've been saying this for years!

  Pick up any WT bound volume from the 60's at random and
  examine the articles therein. It's all gotten dumbed
  down since then. They fill study articles with platitudes
  and filler because they don't know what to say.

  It doesn't matter if they write new books on Ezekiel
  or Revelation. They'll just be full of cut and paste
  filler.

  otherwise, people will catch on and leave.. with this truth in mind, i listened to the special talk.. it's so amusing to hear how self referenced the organization.

  It's so amusing to hear how self referenced the organization
  is. Whenever proof of some outrageous assertion is needed,
  a Watchtower publication is quickly quoted by the speaker.
  I don't think circular reasoning needs any better example.

  What really strikes me as funny is the way Watchtower quotations
  of scriptures are so badly ripped out of context, that the
  resulting interpretation is created out of pure fantasy.
  Considering that poor confused brothers like Aulicino write
  this stuff, I guess I shouldn't be surprized.

  Example: the brother quotes from 2 Peter 3 about how the
  "heavens and earth" are reserved for fire and how they will
  pass "away with a hissing noise".

  He then quotes from the Watchtower that this hissing sound may
  be the present system being quickly 'whisked away' (whoosh!).

  Even a child could understand the immediate context of
  being "intensely hot" causing sizzling sounds like frying.

  Not a major point, but you have to marvel at how sloppy
  and careless these old men are when you teach them how to
  use a 'cut and paste' function on a PC. Why bother actually
  reading what Peter said?

  On a related note, over at freeminds.org, they have some old
  internal letters (1979) from Bethel detailing the need to
  change printing methods. One reason noted is "turnover" and
  "inexperienced brothers" reducing productivity - imagine
  how this situation has gotten worse over twenty years!

  Yes, the Society is testing the validity of the saying:

  "too stupid to live"

  New Meeting attendance policy??

  i couldn't believe it when my daughter came home from a weekend at her cousins.

  she had gone to the meeting with them on sunday and had been approached by an elder (an uncle by marriage)..he was of course joking when he said this....he had the nerve to tell her that because i was not attending the meetings (haven't been for 7 months) that they were going to have to come to my home with a shotgun and make me go.

  i have heard of shotgun weddings before not shotgun meeting attendance.

  I think they are pushing more 'shepherding' (i.e. harassment).

  Dumping subscriptions was supposed to help meeting attendance,
  since you have to go to pick them up.

  Even with the WTC tragedy, they can't stop the slide
  downward. However, they did show a large increase in
  publishers - which proves how phoney these statistics
  can be - 15 minute publishers and anybody can write
  down an hour on a field service slip. Pioneering
  requires a bit more fakery, that may be more bothersome,
  hence, its decline.

  Another point: The April KM says "Youths, Put Full-Time
  Service First" - it encourages applying for Bethel
  service and so forth.

  Does anybody tell the idiots in the Service Dept.,
  that downsizing will be taking place?

  Mavman's comments are typical Watchtower deception.

  "Selling" in common language refers to vigorous persuasion
  of any kind. If I come up with a new marketing concept, I first
  have to "sell" it to the boss. If he's "sold" on the idea,
  action will be taken.

  As for Witnesses selling for a corporation, you'll find many
  older Witnesses refer to the organization's leadership as
  "the Society" - as I often do. The Society hates this exposure
  but refuses to adopt the reality of the 1st century Christian
  congregation - they never used the word "organization" - a
  term derived from worldly companies in the 20th century.

  They were an "association of brothers", as the Bible says.
  Can you understand why this is different from "organization"?

  and solidified by the door to door work. Since all Witness
  meetings were related to the field ministry, they had relevance.
  Going out in service kept the organization strong.

  Not any more.

  Field service - and the unrelenting emphasis to participate
  in it - is destroying the organization. How so?

  Aside from third world countries, most of the door to door
  ministry is imaginary. Homes are empty, people won't come to
  the door, and actually quoting the Bible at doors has become
  a rare event for countless Witnesses. The 'ministry' therefore
  quickly declines into attempted magazine selling - in between
  coffee breaks - and long waits in the car.

  The result is PRETENSE!

  The current generation of Witness kids has no experience with
  a door to door that actually generated converts. Because of this,
  both field service and the 5 meetings that are linked to them,
  TEACH PRETENSE AND A SHALLOW HYPOCRISY THAT DRIVE WITNESS KIDS
  INTO THE PRACTISE OF A 'DOUBLE LIFE'.

  If any of you loyal defenders out there will meditate on this
  just a little, you'll begin to see how foolish this structure
  of meetings and field service looks to Witness kids. ("Mommy,
  why does the emperor have no clothes?")

  MORE IMPORTANTLY, you will begin to understand why the behavior
  of Witness youth is becoming such a crisis.

  After years of this empty practise, A TERRIBLE THING HAPPENS
  IN PRIVATE TO WITNESS KIDS. They say in their minds:

  "My parents are idiots. They are religious fanatics"

  And THEN THEY THINK THIS DEVASTATING THOUGHT!

  "So, why should I listen to anything they say?"

  KA-BOOM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  In this one moment, you have amplified the naturally rebellious
  tendencies of a teenager a HUNDRED FOLD!!!!!!! ALL OF THE WISDOM
  YOU HAVE GATHERED AS AN ADULT that they need to become happy,
  productive adults IS DESTROYED BECAUSE YOU HAVE LOST ALL
  CREDIBILITY BY INSISTING ON ATTENDANCE IN DEAD MEETINGS
  AND DOOR TO DOOR SALES!!!!

  THIS IS WHY Witness kids are becoming WORSE than 'worldly
  children'. This is why they throw off restraint THAT THEIR
  WORLDLY PEERS MAY GRASP THE VALUE OF.

  This is why the Watchtower is destroying itself and wiping out
  its future - its children - by fanatical insistence on meetings
  and a dead ministry - that ruin the credibilty of parents
  in the context of morals and spirituality.

  If you want to ruin your kids, obey the Watchtower.

  If you want good kids, teach them compassion and love
  and devote your time and attention only to activities
  that actually promote charity and kindness.

  Don't let them wreck your family.

  a large number of x-jws have agreed that the watchtower is a cult or cult-like.

  our reading over the years after our exit gives us some appreciation for how cults work, even political type, like hitler's nazi party.

  having lived in a cult environment, we were willing to die for that religon if necessary - to please jehovah - so as we once thought it would.. now, the arafat cult is booming in our faces: with all the peace accords presented and some accepted, such as the oslo accords, etc.

  There is a way out - possibly!

  The US needs to produce a detailed plan to transform the port
  of Gaza into a thriving city-state plainly modeled on HongKong
  and Singapore. The government will be international with UN
  help.

  Creating a poor, wretched theocracy ruled by corrupt thugs
  will not bring peace. The Arabs as a culture are not capable
  of democracy or economic prosperity, apart from being handed
  oil revenues.

  The US would then stick to the plan and keep repeating it
  until all other fantasies are exhausted.
