Dateline---That was It?
by Lindy inwell, i am bucking the general consensus here that everything went well on dateline.
i thought it was fine as far as it went but looking at it through the local jw eyes it will not get what you all and i hoped for.
the show didn't put proof on all the cases we all know about.

One half hour is all it got and on top of everything the last thing said was that all these ones involved were looking at a possible disfellowshipping.
Good for you for wanting to "buck the concensus". But bear in mind that 30 minutes of airtime on what is currently the network that's #1 in the ratings, in PRIMETIME is quite a coup. And, the last thing said by Stone Phillips was that those facing expulsion (or who already have been expelled) were suing the WT and the local congregation elders. It was very well done, for mainstream media. Considering the tremendous amount of information that had to sifted through in order to get this story done in a timely fashion, the producers at Dateline did an admirable job. Whatever satifaction you're seeking concerning this issue isn't just going to fall in your lap - but this show was a great start!

i can't believe that she had the nerve to actually stand up for the fellow in the legal department at headquarters regarding the advice he give to bill bowen.
she told me that he's just an imperfect human.

I can't believe I am sitting here in front of my tv crying. I know I am a sissy but this hits home for me.
LILACS: Don't feel bad - you weren't the only one with tears in their eyes while watching Dateline! Whle not a victim myself, I was close to some who were (including one neice & 2 nephews), and am familiar with the type of coverup & secrecy surrounding pedophiles and their victims. The story was done with no Fox News-type sensationalism, just a straight report with clear FACTS, presented very well by the reporter.

DATELINE - WHY THE CONFUSION ?

why is this being done when the dateline website shows 10 pm.

The NBA Division Championships are on NBC.
On May 28, ON THE EAST COAST, Dateline WILL air from 8:00pm to 9:00pm (eastern standard time). At 9:00, it's the Los Angeles Lakers vs. the Sacramento Kings.
Dateline Tuesday USUALLY comes on at 10:00 pm (EST), but got switched due to the basketball game.
